"Green Light" by Cory Daye -- Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Cory
Daye is known for her classic performances with Dr. Buzzard's Original
Savannah Band -- "Cherchez La Femme" and "I'll Play The Fool" from 1976
-- during the creative growth of disco music. Along with producers Sandy
Linzer and August Darnell (Machine) the stage was set for Cory to
record her own solo album in 1979 -- " Cory and Me".
The first
big disco hit "Pow Wow" was followed appropriately by the flip side of
the big 12" single, "Green Light". It is the sound of a lighter edge of
big-band along with the familiar theme of making the man come to momma.
I
have taken "Green Light" and blended it with the 1984 film, "Swing
Shift" with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell -- and although the theme of
the film is much different from the disco hit -- I used parts of the
big-band era and the heroine's dilemma to match the disco beats and
drama
The film was directed by Jonathan Demme
