The 80's changed the face of disco music and created an electronic flair for the beat. Allot of the best were created by some one-hit group names. Even though their stand did not take on too long, they still made a lasting impression on dance floors for their time.
1) Big House (Special Razormaid Remix) - Fou Gorki.mp3
A great band for Joseph Watt of Razormaid - this is the best of that DOR (Dance Oriented Rock) edge dance sound. Great synthesized horns and percussion.
2) Cry Cry Cry - Two Minds Crack.mp3
POWERHOUSE! This is one of the best-overlooked dance cuts of the 80's. I simply played this out until it could not be played anymore. The instrumental is another great piece that joins this wonderful rock edged vocal - put on the dancing shoes and turn it up! Produced by Dave Hewson.
3) Dr Sex - Pleasure And The Beast.mp3
Released during a time where electric dance music was being classified as nu-wave dance - "whatever" - it was after-hours dance music - deeper and a bit sinister.
4) Hassan (Special Razormaid Remix) - Fatima.mp3
Another great Razormaid classic - best of George Kajanus who also produced Razormaid's headlining group Data ("In Blue", "D.J.") - great electronic mid-eastern strings and percolating keyboards - and that great vocal - one of my favorites of the time.
5) Living Inside Me (Special Razormaid Remix) - Data.mp3
George Kajanus strikes again - Data is another one of his bands.
Bonus 70's Dance Group - James Brown's own J.B.s with the Drive 12" from 1979
6) Just Wanna Make You Dance (12 Inch Remix) - The J.B.'s featuring MAXXI.mp3
7) Rock Groove Machine (12 Inch Remix) - The J.B.'s.mp3

On Such A Winter's Day - The Grand Tour
Label: Butterfly Records (US) Country: US Released: 1977 Genre: Electronic Style: Disco Credits: Producer - Ian Guenther , Willi Morrison
Tracklisting:A1 The Grand Tour A2 Let's Go Boating A3 Still I'm Sad B1 Flight From Versailles B2 Late November B3 California Dreamin'
I call this pretty disco - reminds me of the days when I was trying to figure out, "what this disco music was." Great arrangements - for "disco dollies" definetely. Bu the producers amazingly also produced,
* THP Orchestra - all 3 great projects: "Two Hot For Love", "Tender Is The Night" and "Good To Me" (1977 - 1979)
* The Duncan Sisters - the LP and the 12" "Too Damn Hot" (1979)
* Sticky Fingers (1979)
* Ramming Speed - "When You Walk In The Room" (1983)
* American Fade - "I'm Alive (Let's Move On)" (1981)
* Hazell Dean - "Evergreen"/"Jealous Love" (1983)
They had some incredible productions with great arrangements - and their crossover from pure disco in the late seventies to high energy in the early 80's was flawless. I believe these were a great pair of disco producers! Check out Grand Tour for disco's early formulation.
