"All Through Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Laura Taylor

"All Through Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Laura Taylor

Laura Taylor had her first big disco hit in 1978 with "Dancin' In My Feet (Theme from 'Disco Magic')" on TK Records. Her album which was release in 1979 contained her single hit along with her follow up single, "All Through Me" - produced by Steve Wittmack.

I have taken the sensual track "All Through Me" and ReStructured the 12" version mixed by Cory Wade and Steve Thompson into a new breakdown and arrangement. The song has always been a wonderful early morning aural sound that also has a nice 70s pop quality.

"Moon-boots" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Orlando Riva Sound (ORS)

"Moon-boots" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Orlando Riva Sound (ORS)

Orlando Riva Sound is a German disco project formed in 1976 by Anthony Monn (Amanda Lear, Magnifique) and Rainer Pietsch. The band later added Wolfgang Emperhoff, Sophia Renay.

"Body To Body" is their 1978 LP which featured the track "Moonboots" - a funky and space age-feel track with some great elements that make the project a memorable ensemble. It is a great piece of dance music with the feel of the late 70s outer-space feel.

I have ReStructured the song giving it a few samples from the Apollo landing to complete the fantasy of letting loose on the surface of the moon. It is a chopped and looped edit that gives the guitars and keyboards an opportunity to display their groove.

"Girl, Don't Make Me Wait Too Long" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pattie Brooks

"Girl, Don't Make Me Wait Too Long" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pattie Brooks

Pattie Brooks released her first LP titled "Love Shook" which featured The Simon Orchestra in 1977 - produced by Simon Soussan. It was one of the early disco projects on Casablanca Records which outlined the full disco orchestra along with a featured disco artist as proved formula.

"Girl, Don't Make Me Wait Too Long" was the single from the LP which received immediate play and soon after became one of Pattie's first hits. The track was originally recorded in 1966 by Bunny Sigler, in 1968 by Timebox and again in 1974 by Bo Donaldson and The Heywoods.

In 1978 Pattie's second LP featured her biggest hit, "After Dark" which was that years biggest disco hits of all time.

I have taken the song and given it a new face lift in the ReStructure Mix vein - a new intro, break and synths along the new arrangement.

Watch for Pattie's new release from Nu & Improved Records titled, "It's All About The Music" - produced by disco genius, Rick Gianatos - http://www.nuandimprovedrecords.com - release is set for February 2011

"Mandatory Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lisa

"Mandatory Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lisa

Lisa (Lisa R. Fredenthal-Lee) hit the disco scene in 1982 with the club classic "Jump Shout" - making waves in the new sound of dance music: high energy. Produced by John Hedges and Barry Blum - with a remix by Bill Motley and Craig Morley. The song was one of the first release on San Francisco based disco label Moby Dick Records.

Lisa's album "Lisa" was released in 1983 and contained a few more singles that made it to dance floors. "Mandatory Love" was released in Germany as single and did quite well.

I have ReStructured the song giving it some new funky beats and arrangement to give it an underground feel. It has that killer synth track that is pumped with an extensive loop.

"Tragedy" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bee Gees

"Tragedy" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bee Gees

Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb and the late Maurice Gibb are the Bee Gees - their music of the 70s is an essential part of music history. It has paved a direct connection to pop, dance and soul music in both production and influence.

Their 1979 LP "Spirits Having Flowing" is one of the most awaited of the time as their stardom approached the next hit. "Tragedy" is the single from the album and displays a great tone of feeling and drama with the theme of heartbreak.

I have taken the 12" version and ReStructured the track for a new extended synth-movement feel - it was a project that came as it was created.

"Don't Give Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Simon Orchestra

Simon Soussan who brought up the first Shalamar project "Uptown Festival", Arpeggio, Romance and French Kiss gives his sir-name as the front to this disco studio project, The Simon Orchestra. It features some outstanding vocalists including Jessica Williams, Alex Brown and Lamarr Stevens - who sings "Don't Give Up" from the album.

I have taken the song - which is a favorite of mine and reintroduced the track with a new intro and a few edits and loops to give it a new version. It is one of those Soussan productions that gives a disco symphony-like layered feel. One of the great projects from the end of the disco era of the late 70s.

“Magic Fly” by Kebekelektrik – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Kebekelektrik was originally thought of as “Quebec Electric” – a studio concept from Gino Soccio and Pat Deserio in 1977. The track “Magic Fly” being one of the first releases from the LP – written by Ecama and being one of the innovative instrumentals of the late 70s.

I have taken the track and paired it up with the 1958 science fiction/horror flick, “The Fly” starring David Hedison, Patricia Owens and Vincent Price. It is one of the most terrifying films of the 50s. The “magic” of Kebekelektrik and the film speak for themselves.

"Don't Stop Keep On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Kat Mandu

Kat Mandu is a studio concept group created by Denis Lepage and Joe La Greca - their big hit "The Break" was a disco sensation. The album was released shortly after the singles success and included the single "Don't Stop Keep On" which features backup vocals including Cissy Houston (Whitney's mother).

"Don't Stop Keep On" was later remixed and released as a 12" Canadian import single - I have ReStructured the LP version and created a fast paced mix with enough conga-kick to tame a tiger. This one is quite the cooker. Vocals on the album are provided by Jimmy Ray.

“Love Is The Ultimate” by Ultimate – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Love Is The Ultimate” by Ultimate – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Ultimate is a studio concept band from Juliano Salerni and Casablanca Records from 1978 – the fusion of the Euro-disco sound with a touch of the magic of Philly. This project was a big part of the disco surge in the late 70s and is a favorite hardcore classic.

“Love Is The Ultimate” is a side-long medley featuring three parts which are neatly rolled into a 12” remix by Howard Merritt.

I have taken the 1987 film “Dirty Dancing” starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze and transformed the dance sequences and love scenes into a disco extravaganza. The film works quite well with the romantic edge of Euro-disco. There is a bit or eroticism and the sensual aura that disco has always expressed well.

“Trippin’ On The Moon” by Cerrone – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Trippin’ On The Moon” by Cerrone – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Cerrone’s transition from 70s disco to 80s high energy was flawless. The movement into electronic music which became the dance floor medium for the time was displayed in Cerrone’s style and flavor.

From his 1982 LP “Back Track 8”, the single “Trippin’ On The Moon” became one of the icon disco tracks of the 80s. It featured the vocals of Kay Garner – who also recorded vocals with Love and Kisses and the group The Ladybirds.

I have taken the sci-fi film from 1953 “Cat Women of The Moon” starring Sonny Tufts, Victor Jory and Marie Windsor and placed scenes along with Cerrone’s classic to create a cheesy adventure into the world of human-like felines on the moon. It is quite a campy chapter in 50s adventure flicks.

"True Love Is My Destiny" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - James Wells

"True Love Is My Destiny" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - James Wells

James Wells created a disco treasure with his disco LP "My Claim To Fame" - the underground feel of disco music infused with full orchestral feel. This was the sound that made disco music the sound that even today is looked back as the most innovative. Producers and artists took the sound and gave an interpretation of their own - creating a new style.

"True Love Is My Destiny" is a track from the album that has always caught the attention of dance floors thanks to the infectious lead and bass guitar riffs. The positive feel of the song itself is a wonderful air itself.

I have taken the album version and ReStructured it adding a new intro with beats and percussion to brighten the already exuberant song. It is one of the most adventurous sounds in disco and one that should be kept alive.

Dedicated to the master, Mr. Ian Levine and Mr. Rick Gianatos who created the mix that moved many. (Check out Rick's new productions with Pattie Brooks at http://www.rickgianatos.com)

"Everybody Get Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ren Woods

"Everybody Get Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ren Woods

Ren Woods appeared on television at the age of 10 singing - and then later formed a pre-teen vocal group titled Soul Five. She then starred in the National Tour of "The Wiz". Her career had begun early. She also was in the film "Car Wash".

In 1979 Maurice White (Earth, Wind and Fire) produced her first solo LP titled, "Out Of The Woods" - although Ren did not get a break from this or second LP the single "Everybody Get Up" was a pick-hit for may disc jockeys and disco collectors of the time. The track had the soulful flavor and flow of a then-current disco track.

I have taken "Everybody Get Up" and ReStructured the track with a new intro layered with break elements and also broke the song into a new arrangement. It was a song I would play out early in the evening with success in starting the dance for my evening.

"Don't Stop I Feel Good" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Queen Samantha

Queen Samantha is a studio concept group from Harry Chalkitis and Charles Ibgui - their first LP "The Letter" features George Rodi (from Voyage) on synthesizer. One of TK Disco/Marlin's domestic releases for 2 projects, Queen Samantha created a couple of disco classics, "Take A Chance" and also their cover of "The Letter".

"Don't Stop I Feel Good" is a cut from the album which I always loved thanks to the erotic vocal segments and those killer breaks with the horns and flute solos. The track builds nicely on the album version - but I decided to play with the killer breaks and intro to create a whole new version.

Queen Samantha is one of my favorite studio bands thanks to the very talented Harry Chalkitis. His style and essence is felt throughout this track. The ReStructure Mix is dedicated to his talent.

"Blow My Mind" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Celi Bee

Celi Bee (Celina Ines Camacho) began recording in 1977 and had a big disco hit with "Superman" - later to be covered by Herbie Mann. Her next few albums made her a unique addition to the disco roster. She continued recording onto the late 80s.

Her four LP featured the titled track, "Blow My Mind" - the song had a hard hitting disco edge with the funky riffs to make it a dance floor hit. This track was one of the finale of the disco period for Celi Bee until she recorded with Ray Martinez in 1983 on a cover of "I'm Free".

I have ReStructured "Blow My Mind" and pulled allot of synthesizer and beat tracks to create an extended and new arrangement. It is a slick track and still makes the ears and feet tap with that infectious disco groove.

"San Francisco" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Village People

Village People are another sign that disco music was a part of a generation and its history. Their stage appearance and fantasy-like appeal gave way to a part of the success - but also, the music was fantastic. With their first LP simply titled, "Village People" the side A featured a medley of West Coast cities, including "San Francisco".

I have ReStructured "San Francisco" added some pieces from a generation prior to the the disco era - the 60s who always emphasized the beauty of city who stands by freedom and individuality. The rest are new breaks and some added percussion.

"You Make Me Feel The Fire" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Claudja Barry

Claudja Barry has taken the dance floor many times with numerous disco hits that continue to bring us back to the sheer energy and passion of a true diva. Her stance began in 1976 with "Sweet Dynamite" under the production of her husband Jurgen S. Korduletsch.

In the late 70s her hits became infused with the electronic wizardry that disco music began to emerge with - "You Make Me Feel The Fire" is her 1979 follow up the the prior years big hit, "Boogie Woogie Dancin' Shoes".

"You Make Me Feel The Fire" brings a pop-rock edge to the rousing track that pushes and pushes under the climatic chorus becomes ominous. This is a true power hit for its time and utilizes the rock edge wonderfully with the sequencers right behind.

I have ReStructured the track using the original 12" single and made way to more breakdowns, new drum tracks and a few pieces added for some new energy.

"Up and Down" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Wonder

Wonder is a band that comes from Italy and brings high energy disco LP titled "Up and Down" to dance floors in 1980. At a time where disco music in US became scarce this project was one of the welcomed sights for club DJs.

The first single "Up And Down" was released out of Canada on Uniwave Records - it was an underground club hit for dancers still clamoring for beautiful and energetic material. The song emphasizes a pumping edge of positive affirmations about life - where it is full of "ups" and "downs" - and working with it and releasing it on the dance floor is all that its worth. Makes perfect sense to me.

It is a favorite of mine and all of that trickling percussion was great to ReStructure and create a new mix for old and new ears.

"Never Gonna Say Goodbye" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Poussez!

Poussez! is a studio concept group produced and conceived by Alphonse Mouzon - with the breathy vocals of Christine Wilshire (Musique), Holly Oas, Linda Ledesma, and Ruserial Blackwell. The project was co-produced by Marry Berry.

"Never Say Goodbye" is the finale cut of the four on this album - it was released in 1986 with a remix by Ben Liebrand - and also as a 12" single during the LP release. The music of Poussez! emphasizes the sensual eel of disco music with a funky groove. Much of it is simple but infectious and with the lush strings, quite beautiful.

“Summer Fever” by Donna Summer – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Summer Fever” by Donna Summer – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Donna Summer released her third US LP titled “Four Seasons Of Love” in 1976 – produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. This project gave Donna another chapter exploring the sensual sound of disco music during its experimental stages. It was a great success for both Donna and disco music.

I have taken the track “Summer Fever” and used it for a Disco Video Mix along with the Marilyn Monroe iconic film “Seven Year Itch” from 1955 – the film was a comedy and utilized Marilyn’s sexy image and persona to portray a fantasy within the mind of our questioning husband, Tom Ewell.

Donna Summer actually used the famous subway scene for the back of her “Four Seasons Of Love” LP cover which gave me the idea to combine the two in a dreamlike video.

The film was directed by Billy Wilder

"Let Your Body Run" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Francie Simone

"Let Your Body Run" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Francie Simone

Francie Simone's "Let Your Body Run" was released on BC Records in 1979 - produced by Began Cekic (Brooklyn Express, Sugar Daddy and Began Began). The record was buried under a slew of disco promo releases and missed the potential it was worthy of. But, at times the underground hit is more fitting.

I have taken "Let Your Body Run" and added a few elements to spice up the "hot" percussion riffs and Francie's sexy disco femme vocal. I extracted a few keyboard and piano pieces and made them a major part of the new mix. This track has always reminded me of Erotic Drum Band - and now with this new remix fits closer in the mold.

"Lady Of The Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ray Martinez and Friends

"Lady Of The Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ray Martinez and Friends

Ray Martinez blends the sound of bid band and sexy lounge beats to create "Lady Of The Night" from 1980. This track is a classic among dancers and collectors and for good reason. It brings to mind the sound of bands like Dr. Buzzard and The Original Savannah Band and Charlie Callelo.

Other projects from Ray Martinez include Amant, Passion, Foxy, George McCrae, Jill, Angie and Celi Bee

I have taken Ray's wonderful song and ReStructured it with a new intro and few breakdowns to give the song a new aim. It is still one of the sexiest tracks I know and will always be on my top 20 list.

Dedicated to Mr. Ray Martinez - and thank you Ray for your friendship!

"Fantastic" by Meccano - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Fantastic" by Meccano - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Meccano is an Italian duo: Nadia Bani and Walter Bassani. They began recording in 1984 and released several big high energy/Italo-disco tracks in the mid and late 80s. Their most notable are “Down, Down Romeo” and “Activate My Heart”.

“Fantastic” is a single released in 1988 on the Italian label Keepon Musik. The single has the sound of Italo-disco in its upbeat and carefree sound. This has always been one of my favorite songs in the genre.

I have taken the film 2003 Pixar film, “Finding Nemo” and placed the adventure below this energy – it was a thought that was brought on from the “happy” sound of “Fantastic” – and after all it really is. The combination is created to give a breath of life and the wonderful essence it brings.

The film was directed by Andrew Stanton
