ReStructure Mix Update (6/28/15) “Stubborn Kind Of Fella” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Buffalo Smoke

ReStructure Mix Update (6/28/15) “Stubborn Kind Of Fella” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Buffalo Smoke

Buffalo Smoke is a disco project from 1976 produced by former Fifth Dimension member, Lou Courtney. Their cover of the 1962 Marvin Gaye soul-classic “Stubborn Kind Of Fellow” is pumped into a rousing disco number with a great lead vocal by Lou and a nice backing female duo (Christine Wright, Natalie Maryland) echoing throughout. The album was arranged by L. Leon Pendarvis and speaks the classic sound of the mid-70s where the disco tempo and beat are the added to discofy the production.

I have taken the double A-sided 12” single of “Stubborn Kind Of Fellow” and worked a ReStructure Mix to give the powerhouse sound a new edge. Lots of new percussion and drums accentuate the rhythmic flow of this all-together love song where this guy is not giving up soon. One of my favorite disco 12” underground classics and once I start to hear the chorus it takes a while to leave.

“Follow Me” by Amanda Lear – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Follow Me” by Amanda Lear – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Amanda Lear is on of disco music’s diamonds. Her music career began in 1977 and she became a voice and face which represented the chic nightlife and its pulsating and hypnotic music. “Follow Me” is from Amanda’s second album “Sweet Revenge” from 1978 and is a disco symphony in the Faust tale placing Amanda as the temptress in a beautiful twist. The track was a dance hall favorite and could always be heard at the wee hours of those dance floors that closed when the sun came up. A fantastic piece of art disco with Amanda’s unique style.

I have created a Disco Video Mix with scenes from the 200 fantasy-comedy film, “Bedazzled” (a remake of a 1967 film with Dudley Moore). The new version stars Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley. The outline follows the disco track with the sexy delivery from Amanda to the sexy shots of Hurley as the dark side.

The film was directed by Harold Ramis

“Wind Beneath My Wings” by Menage – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Wind Beneath My Wings” by Menage – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Menage is a studio disco group produced by Warren Schatz and features vocals by Ellen Bernfeld. This is one of their disco covers of pop and Broadway hits and is the cover of Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings” – done in the magic formula by Warren Schatz with the deep percussion and beautiful lilting vocals. A big hit for high energy dance floors and those who prefer the disco way.

I have taken scenes from its film. “Beaches” from 1988 starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey and created a medley of scenes offering a climax to the teary-eyed ballad done disco. It is merely a tribute to the song and also a remembrance for me of a dear friend passing who reminded me that friendship is dear – thank you, Roy!

The film was directed by Garry Marshall
