"Video Games" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ronnie Jones

"Video Games" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ronnie Jones

Ronnie Jones released his 1980 album "Games" - produced by Jurgen S. Korduletsch with a very nice 12" single featuring the songs, "Video Games" and "Tonite".

"Video Games" became one of the favorites among electro-disco jocks - I know it made a permanent place on my clubs dance floor at the time. A funky electronic look at the world of then-video and pinball madness. It is a fun track which takes excepts and titles to create a robotic groove.

I have taken some of the pieces which I have loved and recreated a ReStructure Mix to keep the song alive and the 80s dance mode memorable.

"More" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Carol Williams

"More" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Carol Williams

Carol Williams is the first disco-diva of Salsoul Records - her 1976 LP "L'ectric Lady" is a Vincent Montana, Jr. extravaganza! The project contained two of the big Salsoul classics, "Love Is You" and Carol's cover of the Italian instrumental (from1962's "Mondo Cane") with the adapted English lyrics by Norman Newell, "More".

I have taken the 12" version of "More" and ReStructured the lovely orchestrations into a few segments while giving the band a few breaks with some new beats and drop outs. It is one of the disco classics here the diva makes the mood deeper than love itself and the band strikes up the energy like a power drink!

“Cerrone’s Paradise” by Cerrone – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Cerrone’s Paradise” by Cerrone – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Jean-Marc Cerrone is a moment in disco history that has to be heard. Cerrone gave Euro-disco the style and flavor which ignited dance floors into hours of non-stop dancing.

“Cerrone’s Paradise” is his second project from 1977 that is the full orchestra and funky guitars and percussion which drive the European flavor.

I have combined Cerrone’s masterpiece along with the 2001 musical-drama, “Moulin Rouge” starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. Pieces of the elaborate stage performances and romance outline the disco piece well.

The film was directed by Baz Luhrmann

“I Was Made For Loving You” by Kiss – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“I Was Made For Loving You” by Kiss – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Kiss is an American hard-rock band - Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. Their album “Dynasty” from 1979 contained one of the bands disco crossover hits, “I Was Made For Loving You” – produced by Vince Poncia.

I have taken the 12” disco single of the song and paired it with the 1985 teen-comedy, “Weird Science” starring Anthony Michael Hall, Ilan Mitchell-Smith and Kelly LeBrock. Two high school nerds create a virtual and perfect woman on their home computer – and turn their world upside down with her powers of memory manipulation and reality warping.

"Mama Rue (C'est Moi)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Queen Samantha

"Mama Rue (C'est Moi)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Queen Samantha

Queen Samantha is Charles Ibgui, Harry Chalkitis and Gloria Brooks

"The Letter" and "Take A Chance" are the first big hits from this disco ensemble - and like most of their tracks a mystical sound emerges from both the vocal arrangement and production. "Mama Rue" is from the third and finale self-titled album.

I have taken the 12" version of "Mama Rue" and created a whole new ReStructure Mix taking the syn-drum and clap pieces to a new high - and also extending some of the vocal pieces. The story of a new experience for our heroine is again enthralling as her confession.

"Cosmic Voyager" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Kano

"Cosmic Voyager" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Kano

Kano is Luciano Ninzatti, Stefano Pulga and Matteo Bonsanto - their first album from 1980 contained some of the progressive dance floor material with a heavy Italo-disco influence. "I'm Ready" from this LP is an icon for disco, electro and break-beats and continues as a powerful disco track.

"Cosmic Voyager" is an instrumental track from the album which closes the set. It is one of the genuine sounds of Italo-disco with an electronic approach to the coming of techno music - most likely influenced by producers like Giorgio Moroder.

I have taken the album version and created a new ReStructure Mix laying out an extended intro and giving segments an opportunity to feel more evident - and also add a special guest computer: "HAL" to the mix.

"Don't Turn Around" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Raes

"Don't Turn Around" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Raes

The Raes are a disco duo who released three albums under the production of Harry Hindle. Their first big disco hit was "A Little Lovin' (Keeps The Doctor Away)" from the album "Dancing Up A Storm". Following were two singles form the LP "I Only Wanna Get Up And Dance" and "Don't Turn Around".

The sound of The Raes is quite the pop-disco edge and creates a nice vocal arena for both vocalists.

I have taken the 12" version (same as album) and have given it a ReStructure Mix using the rolling bass and percussion as the framework and rearranging both vocals, strings and piano parts.

This ReStructure Mix goes out to Nick and Lindsay - and once again boys, isn't it exciting again! Thank you for your support.

"Magic Of You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cameron

"Magic Of You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cameron

Cameron is a soul/disco singer who was signed to Salsoul Records in 1980 Brass Construction's Randy Muller - he also performed with Muller's group Funk Deluxe in the early-80s.

"Magic Of You" is from the Cameron self-titled LP from 1980 and is the sound of Salsoul-funk ala Skyy - which Muller also produced. It is a lovely track with a nice flowing love note with electro-funk guiding it. Backing vocals are provided by the female part of Skyy.

I have taken the LP version of "Magic Of You" and extended the into from a pounding phase level-in and then played with some of my favorite parts of the mix. It is intended to give the song another opportunity to make it's way into new "spinning" minds.

“Designer Music” by Lipps, Inc. – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Designer Music” by Lipps, Inc. – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Lipps, Inc. is Steven Greenberg and Cynthia Johnson

After striking the disco gold mine with their first hit “Funkytown” they became a well-known act on dance floors. Their third LP titled “Designer Music” created a new sound for disco music as it grew into the 80s. The title track became a hit in clubs and helped to keep the band around for a few more years.

I have taken the LP version of “Designer Music” and paired it with the 1981 designer-comedy, “So Fine” starring Ryan O’ Neal and Jack Warden. The film is the story of a clothing designer who creates the ultimate bottomless jeans – and soon they become the hit of fashion.

"Keep It Hot" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix -

"Keep It Hot" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Cheryl Lynn

Cheryl Lynn became an overnight disco diva in a matter of notes. Her first album featured the disco classic, "Got To Be Real" and the disco cooker, "Star Love". This was an exciting time for dance floors and Cheryl's career. A turning point for disco history where a voice became a icon for the music.

"Keep It Hot" is from her second LP titled "In Love" produced by Barry Blue - and although it did not share the same success this project is a technical achievement for the pipes this woman possesses. Amazing when you listen to her delivery and range in many of the songs from the album.

I have taken the album version - since it has been untouched and also has the best elements of the session, in my opinion to create a new mix. This ReStructure has more of Cheryl's climatic chorus and also some of the vocal hooks that to this day make me stand and move all over again!

"African Queens" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Ritchie Family

"African Queens" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Ritchie Family

The Ritchie Family's third album "African Queens" from 1977 is one of the early disco-fantasies and wonderful Euro-disco feel project. Produced by the late, but forever fabulous Jacques Morali and features Ralph McDonald and Horace Ott on string and horn arrangements - the sound of Jacques' magic disco era.

"African Queens" is a side long medley and the disco romance of Nefertiti, Cleopatra and The Queen of Sheba - a dousing adventure and quite fun to feel the beat to.

I have ReStructured the medley and pulled out parts which accentuate the disco flavor of the late-70s. Swirling strings and pulsating rhythms. A new Intro and exit are featured to give the song a new feel.

"I'm Here Again" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Thelma Houston

"I'm Here Again" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Thelma Houston

Thelma Houston is a gift from the 70s. Her talent has given soul/R&B and disco music a lift for lasting emotion in many of her recordings. Her career in the industry began in 1969 with her LP "Sunshower". In 1976 she created a window for disco music with her Grammy award winning cover of "Don't Leave Me This Way" (originally recorded by Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes in 1975).

"I'm Here Again" revisits a similar sound and feel with more of Thelma's magic - it is from her 1977 album "The Devil In Me". Produced by Brenda and Michael B. Sutton. Although this track and her prior year hit are along the same sound - there is a wonderful sound here again.

I have taken the 12" version and have given it another spin with some ReStructure Mix elements including a new intro and exit. The original has a great build - even though my focus was to introduce the song with a wall of the beautiful strings and tambourines.

Requested from Nick and Lindsay - you wonderful boys make the music more than it is - that in itself is a gift! Thank you - and this is for you both.

"Bad Girl" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sphinx

"Bad Girl" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sphinx

Sphinx is an Italo-disco project from Luciano Ninzatti, Matteo Bonsanto and Stefano Pulga - the boy who created Kano. These musicians and producers formulated the Phil Spector sound for disco - a wall of synthesizers on a disco beat.

"Bad Girl" is from their 1983 self-titled album - many mistake for the Alec R. Costandinos symphonic-disco production. This track is one of the powerful vocal and keyboard wailing numbers - close to an electronic rock experience. It has always been one of the many on the album I admire.

I have ReStructured the album version (not the 12" remix) and recreated the energy with a few clips and samples from another "Bad Girl" to add to the powerful instrumental.

Dedicated to L. Ninzatti, M. Bonsanto and S. Pulga

"She Wants To (Get On Down)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bill Withers

"She Wants To (Get On Down)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bill Withers

Bill Withers (William Harrison Withers Jr.) was a mechanic for Lockheed Aircraft Corporation but after demos and his 1971 single "Ain't No Sunshine" he became a major soul artist. His 1977 album "Menagerie" contained his classic "Lovely Day" (later covered by C.C. Music Factory) and also a song featured in the film, "Looking For Mr. Goodbar".

"She Wants To (Get On Down)" has always been one of my favorite pre-disco boom tracks. It has the funky essence of the Stevie Wonder keyboard feel and a bumping bass track. It builds over and over with vocals riding on top of the groovy rhythm.

I have taken the 3:15 album track and ReStructured it into over 8 minutes adding a new intro and some breaks along the way - as well as some looping.

"No Regrets" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Quartzlock

"No Regrets" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Quartzlock

I like to think of Quartzlock's "No Regrets" as the crowning touch of high energy in 1988. This song is one of the most recognizable songs in the clubs of hardcore high energy and club music. It features Lonnie Gordon on vocals presenting an emotional and powerful delivery for a disco track. I would say the "I Will Survive" of the late 80's.

"No Regrets" is a disco cover of The Walker Brothers 1975 hit - written and performed originally by Tom Rush. The production by Marc Andrews is flawless - with a gentle yet effective pounding to present a stage for heartache.

I have taken the 12" Musclebound Mix and ReStructured the piece into a new journey for memory sake. I can remember hearing this track for the first time and thought I heard Bette Midler singing? What a night that must have been!

"Sexy Cream" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Slick

"Sexy Cream" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Slick

Slick is Barbara Ingram, Carla Benson, Evette Benton and Brandi Wells

Their LP "Slick" from 1979 is one of the memorable projects from the "disco boom era" - with two big dance floor hits, "Space Bass" and "Sexy Cream". It as the funk of Philly and the harmonies which made The Sweethearts of Sigma (Barbara Ingram, Carla Benson and Evette Benton) irresistible either backing up or leading the chorus.

"Sexy Cream" is an erotic disco trip which I have taken onto the ReStructure Mix block - using the LP version which has the full arrangement and pieces I was looking for verses the 12" which chops much of it out. This new ReStructure Mix pulls the sexy feel "in and out" several more times and adds some new elements to take disco again on sexy experience - which is what the sound was all about.

“Better Be Good To Me” by Tina Turner – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Better Be Good To Me” by Tina Turner – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Tina Turner is The Queen of Rock n’ Roll – her recording career began in 1961 with Ike Turner with the album “The Soul of Ike & Tina Turner”. An amazing career and life throughout the 60s, 70s and a sensational solo comeback in 1984 with her album “Private Dancer”.

“Better Be Good To Me” is from the project and was produced by Rupert Hine. I have taken the 12” single and blended it with the 1993 film based on Tina’s career and her courage to break free from an abusive husband.

The film stars Angela Bassett and Laurence Fishburne – it was directed by Brain Gibson.

"Dance, Dance, Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Supermax

"Dance, Dance, Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Supermax

Supermax is an Austrian disco/rock fusion band formed by Kurt Hauenstein in 1976. Their 1977 album "Supermax" contained several nice dance tracks including the underground classic, "Lovemachine".

"Dance, Dance, Dance: is also from the LP and one of my favorites - in an afro-cuban dark and deep tribal-rock sound. It is featured on the album as a 3:45 track and a closing 3:27 as Part II. I have ReStructured both album versions into a close to 10 minute remix featuring some new percussion tracks and intro.

This is a break through piece from the time and always reminded me of the 60s psychedelic rock scene with a touch of jungle rhythm. A fantastic recording!

"Native Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Divine

"Native Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Divine

Divine (Harris Glenn Milstead) is unmistakable in any sense. He began as a drag performer in cult classic films by John Waters - even more perfect is his role in disco/high energy music in the early-80s. Teamed with producers Danny Weiss and Bobby Orlando a camp-driven hardcore synthesized dance edge was created.

"Native Love" is from Divine's album "My First Album" from 1982 - an array of simple and fun dance tracks. It has become a classic among club goers and now work that identifies this drag-diva's style all together.

I have taken the 12" version and mixed and looped parts for a whole new experience. I have also added surprise vocals from Divine's early cult films "Pink Flamingos" to work the mood slowly, but surely.

"Rofo's Theme" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Rofo

"Rofo's Theme" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Rofo

Rofo is Ronny Verrept and Fonny De Wolf (Charity, Samantha Gilles, Michael Bow, Bianca). The first single from Rofo from 1983 "Flashlight On A Disco Night" egnited a new high energy sound in electronic music - followed by "I Want You" and "You Got To Move It On". A blend of rolling synthesizers and male/lounge-like vocals.

"Rofo's Theme" is an instrumental track from 1987 which brought dance floors to their feet with it's fast furious keyboards and rolling-rolling bass sequencers. This on has always reminded me of "a day at the horse races" - it has that much energy!

I have ReStructured the original 12" remix version and created an extended flowing intro and then had some fun chopping and re arranging much of the keyboard bridges and segues.

“Hot Shot” by Karen Young – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Hot Shot” by Karen Young – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Karen Young is one of the memorable disco artists of the late-70s. Her 1978 hit “Hot Shot” is one you cannot forget you have heard it. Produced by Andy Kahn and Kurt Borusiewicz (AKB) this track is one that hits the target more than once.

I have taken the 1991 comedy “Hot Shots!” starring Charlie Sheen, Valeria Golina and Lloyd Bridges and paired it with the disco blockbuster with the titles closely matching and a concept from Ken Emmons.

The comedy and club routine from our femme star flow quite well with the power of the disco cooker. The film is a spoof in the style of “Airplane!”

"Boys On Hollywood Blvd" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Elite

"Boys On Hollywood Blvd" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Elite

Elite is Jon Pickett, Michelle Wilson and David Vinson - a disco project arranged and conducted by the fabulous, Celso Valli (Passengers, Azoto, Tantra). Co-produced and keyboards from Tony Carrasco.

"Boys On Hollywood Blvd" is the title single and first release from the album - a story of dedication and hardships of the up and climbing stars in tinsel town. A great operetta-style vocal and club oriented track. Lots of sweeping strings and horns in the Italian-disco production style ala Revanche, Rudy and Macho.

I have ReStructured the track since it is one of my favorite from 1980 as the disco energy is one of the powerful and pleasing sounds of the time for high energy bound DJs.

Dedicated to Celso Valli and the magic Tony Carrasco!

"Op Oop Op Oop" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Esther Phillips

"Op Oop Op Oop" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Esther Phillips

Little Esther (alias Esther Phillips) is the queen of blues and soul. Her move to disco music in the late 70s was a treat to dance floors and now music history. The 1979 LP "Here's Esther...Are You Ready" produced by Harvey Mason is a gem.

The project contained a disco version of the standard "Our Day Will Come", a dance version of Elton John's "Philadelphia Freedom" and the disco-mover, "Op Oop Op Oop" - transforming the disco chant into a diva standard!

I have taken the 12" version of this smokin' track and transformed it into a ReStructure movement with lots of loops and rearranging to make you wonder where your feet will move next. A great fun time was had by my mind and soul on this one.

Special thanks and dedicated to Lindsay and Nick - you magic men! You make the music feel deeper and more exciting than ever!
