"Vamos a La Playa" by Righeira - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Vamos a La Playa" by Righeira - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Righeira is Stefano Righi and Stefano Rita

Their 1983 self-titled LP was an electronic dance project produced by La Bionda - the big hit, "Vamos a La Playa" was an instant hit in clubs. The translation "We Go To The Beach" was a perfect opportunity for me to use one of the 1960's teen romp films - "Beach Blanket Bingo" was the one!

Since "Vamos a La Playa" has such a festive tone many of the dancers and excitement of these films were the exact element for the tone. The film was shot at Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu, California

The film stars Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello, Deborah Walley, Harvey Lembeck, John Ashley, Jody McCrea and Linda Evans. It was directed by William Asher (of television's "Bewitched")

"Keep On Holdin' On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Margaret Reynolds

"Keep On Holdin' On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Margaret Reynolds

Margaret Reynolds would serenade the Trocadero Transfer in San Francisco with "Keep On Holdin' On" - reminding everyone that better times are always there.

Singing back up for artists such as Gwen McCrae and George McCrae, Margaret found herself along side KC in "Take Me To The Moon" in 1980. Her dance tracks with Moby Dick Records in 1982 were an important segment of the disco revival.

"Keep On Holdin' On" is a classic disco anthem - with the positive energy and excitement that disco music "is". I have ReStructured the song giving it a new intro and breaks and also taking advantage of several riffs that I wanted to showcase.

Dedicated to the Trocadero Transfer and the disco revival!

"Die Hard Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Loverde

"Die Hard Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Loverde

Loverde is Frank Loverde, Linda Imperial ("Get Here", "Fire), Peggy Gibbons and Don Miley. A San Francisco high energy disco troupe that created a label - "Die Hard Lover" with their 1982 dance floor hit.

The song outlined the non-stop appeal of a hot lover who obviously is compared to a never ending support system. It is a track that is label as "gay" disco for it's success in the early disco revival of San Francisco in the early 80's.

This ReStructure is dedicated to the "die hard" DJ's and Promoters who keep the disco energy alive - Sergio F. of Go Bang in particular - see you in February 2010!

"Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paradise Express

"Dance" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paradise Express

Herb Jimmerson and Vi Ann created a moment in disco music that will never be forgotten. Many recorded tracks are often looked at as classic disco recordings.

Their first LP contained "Dance" - a cover of Paul Jabara's signature track. This version moves the song into the electronic fusion of disco music and it's innovative feel. Jimmerson created music with a dreamy essence and hardcore rhythm and along with the fantastic vocals of Vi Ann the tracks still move and influence.

I have ReStructured "Dance" with a whole new intro and arrangement - it is my homage to a place in disco music that will remain intact.

Dedicated to Vi Ann and her family :)

"Feelin' Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Hott City

Hott City! is a studio concept produced and created by Jeffrey Parsons and Jeffrey Steinberg - "Feelin' Love" being the initial release from the LP. The track features Sherry Fox on vocals.

This is a dreamy track and very much as early trance-like feel in disco music. Syn drums and percolating keyboards run traces of disco ecstasy throughout this number.

I have ReStructured the song using a new intro with thumping beat track along with a new clap loop to accentuate the already frenetic pace of the song.

"On And On And On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - ABBA

"On And On And On" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - ABBA

ABBA being Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Agnetha Faltskog and Annie-Frid Lyngstad are in the first area of the disco museum. Their music has been some of the most important pieces in music history.

Their return to dance floors in the early 80's gave the world an opportunity to experience the creative end and vocal power. "Super Trooper" was one of the most awaited LPs of the time. With "Lay All Your Love On Me" it was the first explosion - following were the LPs magic including "On And On And On".

I have take "On And On And On" and placed it in the ReStructure feel - which is directly on the dance floor - with all of it's original power with a few more angles added.

This remix is dedicated to Edward from YouTube - thank you your very kind words Edward. Now bring ABBA home with you :)

"Catch Me (I'm Falling In Love)" by Marsha Raven - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Catch Me (I'm Falling In Love)" by Marsha Raven - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

High energy classic "Catch Me (I'm Falling In Love)" is given the Disco Video Mix treatment along with one of my all-time favorite films, Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo".

Marsha Raven had a hit in 1982 with "I Like Plastic" - a bit of novelty track but maintained a wonderful feel with a production by Pierre Tubbs. In 1983, Marsha worked with Ian Anthony Stephens on Passion Records in the UK and began a series of great disco/high energy tracks.

The song is known by its dramatic drum rolls and high-end chorus - it works perfected with the drama and theme of the 1958 psychological thriller starring James Stewart and Kim Novak.

This idea came to me easily, as I am a big cinema fan and Hitchcock being a big influence on my film making interest as a child.

"Night Dancin'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Taka Boom

"Night Dancin'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Taka Boom

Chaka Khan's little sister has been quite an addition to dance floor both in the 70's and 80's - her vocal performance in "You + Me=Love" by Undisputed Truth and "Mr. DJ, You Know How To Make Me Dance" by Glass Family are bound to make your recognize the power and beauty behind this diva.

"Night Dancin'" comes from Taka's first solo project. A big disco hit at first release and lots of praise from DJ pools and critics. This one was produced by John Ryan.

I have taken "Night Dancin'" and have given it a chopped-up and drawn out mix with lots of use of that dynamite percussion!

"Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Marcia Hines

Marcia Hines starred in musicals "Hair" and "Jesus Christ Superstar" in the 70's - her disco fame came with "Your Love Still Brings Me To My Knees" in 1981. A beautiful love song set to a rock-disco tempo.

This track worked dance floors during a period where disco divas for some reason went into hiding. I have always thought this track was the "Never Knew Love This This" by Stephanie Mills with a strong dance beat.

My ReStructure pays homage to the song which worked many nights for me in my clubs and add a few breaks a loops of that fabulous and beautiful keyboard melody.

"Japanese Boy" by Aneka - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Japanese Boy" by Aneka - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Aneka hit the disco scene in 1981 with her big hit, "Japanese Boy". A Scottish traditional folk singer began a disco career - her real name Mary Sandeman.

This track had the mechanics of early high-energy music at a lower BPM - sharp keyboards and a pulsating bass synthesizer. And along with Aneka's unique style and delivery on the theme it was an inevitable hit!

I have taken the 1971 adventure film "Godzilla's Revenge" and placed scenes from the film to outline the story, which gives a brief tale of a young Japanese boy's lesson on how to stand up against bullies. It features Godzilla's own son, Minya.

The film was directed by Ishirô Honda

"Saturday Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - T-Connection

"Saturday Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - T-Connection

Funk and disco are the drive behind T-Connection - Theophilus Coakley, Kirkwood Coakley, David Mackey and Anthony Flowers.

Their 1976 track "Disco Magic" gave them a spot on the dance floor which brought together a soulful band approach with the lighter side of disco elegance. "Do What You Wanna Do" from 1977 is a classic embedded on mirror balls everywhere.

I have ReStructured their 1979 power track "Saturday Night" and planted a few pump beats here are there to break down the verse and chorus into a funky dance experience. The same LP titled "T-Connection" also contained the equally popular track "At Midnight".

"As Long As It's Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Theo Vaness

Theo Vaness is a Dutch singer with a great reputation on the dance floor - his initial solo project "Back To Music" in 1978 (produced by Michaele, Lana and Paul Sebastian) is one of the earliest successful medleys in the disco vein.

His follow up LP "Bad Bad Boy" in 1979 is still resonating from the contents: "Sentimentally It's You" and "No Romance/Keep on Dancing" - and this ReStructure take on the anthem, "As Long As It's Love".

The track has a great feel and purpose - exclaiming love and understanding. It is a classic in it's own right. This mix takes pieces and assembles the track into a new extended mix.

"Back To You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Crystal In The Pink

80's high energy took a turn back to the lyrical feel of classic disco with sharp edged synthesizers and pumping bass lines - "Back To You" by Crystal In The Pink from 1987 is a Vincent Degiorgio masterpiece of such a record. Emotion and intense dancing are a big piece of this Canadian disco track from Power Records.

I have ReStructured "Back To You" using the 1987 Remix version and extending portions of the wailing guitars and Downtown bass!

"I'll Fly With You (L'Amour Toujours)" by Gigi D'Agostino - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"I'll Fly With You (L'Amour Toujours)" by Gigi D'Agostino - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Gigi D’Agostino’s “I’ll Fly With You (L’Amour Tourjours)” is a fantasy-love track from 2000 that made some impact on dance music. His progressive style influenced both Italo dance and progressive Mediterranean themes.

“I’ll Fly With You’ haunted me with it’s driving keyboard riffs, bass pump and angelic-like vocals mixed with male-torch. It was the perfect track for a new style of dance music in the millennium.

I have taken the 1969 film “The Big Cube” starring Lana Turner, George Chakiris and Richard Egan and placed some trippy elements from the footage on the disco track. The film is a campy take on the dangers of LSD and hallucinogens drugs during the 60’s and of course the evil pusher verses the innocent victim. It is quite a farce - so it was perfect to miss-match the connection.

The film was directed by Tito Davison - quite groovy!

"That's The Meaning" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Beautiful Bend

An ominous track for Boris Midney from the project that joined the sweet vocals of Philadelphia, the soaring orchestral sound of the 70's and the technological genius of Midney's mind.

"That's The Meaning" is a celebratory track that gives goose bumps to any disco audiophile every time. It is sheer magic.

This ReStructure pieces the song into parts that I extracted and have given a mild work over to. It is intended to keep the song alive along with the wonderful legacy of Boris Midney.

"I'm No Angel" by Madleen Kane - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"I'm No Angel" by Madleen Kane - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Madleen Kane has given disco music the appeal and poise necessary to shape the elegant and sensual feel. Her 1978 LP "Rough Diamond" made dance floors convert easily to the Euro-disco sound and rhythm.

In 1985, her electronic dance project "Cover Girl" gave a new energy top Madleen's sensual style - produced by Ian Anthony Stephens and co-written by Paul Parker. "I'm No Angel" was the first single that blazed onto dance floors and gave the high-energy scene some new material.

I have placed the millennium release of "Charlie's Angels" starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu along the disco track. The take on the 70's action/adventure series add to the deep and haunting feel of Madleen's song.

“Paradise Bird” is Amii Stewart’s follow-up LP in 1978 – the following year her project “Knock On Wood” took discotheques by storm. Produced Barry Leng created a selection of dance tracks including “Jealousy”.

Featuring a deep synth-bass loop and high-end chorus this track takes over your emotions.

It was Ken’s concept to blend the drama of the 1992 comedy-fantasy film, “Death Becomes Her” starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis. The film has the elements of a love-hate relationship between the 2 heroines and soon it becomes a matter of life and death and death…

"Coming Out Of Hiding" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pamala Stanley

Pamala Stanely burst upon the disco scene in 1979 with her big hit, "This Is Hot" - this one made dance floors simmer with Pamala's sweet vocals with the power of delivering an anthem. It came again in 1983. "Coming Out Of Hiding" was a track that made an impact in more ways than one.

The high energy scene was beginning to place dance music back in front and liven up discotheques again. Pulsating synthesizers and electric drums were brighter and more eminent.

I have taken Pamala's wonderful disco hit and diverted the energy into a maze of the synthesizers and some additional play with a few lines. This one is the powerhouse moment where the "song is the thing!"

Dedicated to Pamala Stanley and a special thanks for sharing her talents with the world.

"San Francisco" by V.I.S.A. - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Another great Celso Valli studio group was V.I.S.A. - featuring the big track, "San Francisco". Very similar to his project Nuggets ("New York") with the same gusto and excitement.

The album was originally released in 1979 (Polydor - Italy) and later in 1980 (Unidisc - Canada) - produced by Angelo Piccarreta and Felix Music Production.

This Disco Video Mix takes V.I.S.A.'s track places it above scenes from the 1936 film, "San Francisco" starring Clark Gable and Jeanette MacDonald - focusing on the Barbary Coast before and after the big quake, which destroyed the city. I have used only the celebratory segments to keep the magic of the disco track on the right track.

"Jump Shout" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lisa

"Jump Shout" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lisa

Big high energy track produced by the legendary, John Hedges and Barry Blum - this one is the big floor packer of 1982.

Lisa took discotheques and feet hostage with this powerhouse number released on San Francisco's Moby Dick Record's. I have taken the Remix Version by Bill Motley and Craig Morley and given it a ReStructure Mix uplift for a faster and higher jumpin' mix.

Dedicated to Mr. John Hedges - The Man!

"Love Bug" by Bumblebee Unlimited - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Love Bug" by Bumblebee Unlimited - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Patrick Adams produced Bumblebee Unlimited in 1976 - the single "Love Bug" was the start of the novelty run for this groovy disco themed project. Assisted with Greg Carmichael, Joey Badlotto, Leroy Burgess, Michael Lewis and Richard Taninbaum the band placed sped up vocals over disco rhythms with a light hearted and somewhat sexy concept.

"Lady Bug" is the first single by Bumblebee Unlimited and is featured in this strange and somewhat dark Disco Video Mix along with the 1978 Irwin Allen's "The Swarm". Of course like all Allen productions (especially his big disaster flicks like "The Poseidon Adventure" and "The Towering Inferno") there is an all-star cast - including Michael Caine, Katherine Ross, Richard Widmark, Olivia de Havilland, Patty Duke, Henry Fonda and Fred MacMurray.

The film centers around a swarm of killer African bees who make their way into American cities.

This Disco Video Mix salutes the superlative production by Allen and treat the all-fun intended "Lady Bug" single as a darker side of those dirty little singers!

"Inch By Inch" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Persia

"Inch By Inch" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Persia

Persia is a disco band produced by Kenny Nolan ("I Like Dreamin'") and Juergen Koppers (Giorgio Moroder, Munich Machine) - an ensemble featuring Zell Black on lead vocals. Zell had a single released in 1974 on Motown titled, "I Been Had By The Devil".

"Inch By Inch" is one of the most slick disco tracks during the end of 1979 and unfortunately the tail end of the disco boom. The LP was an incredible production and is a gem to this day.

"Inch By Inch" is one of my Top 10 Disco favorites so ReStructuring it was a pleasure - I have divided the song into new segments and added more shake and rattle to work a new audience and the faithful!

"Body Contact" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Loi

"Body Contact" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Loi

Loi is a studio band produced by Joe Richards (Barrington Levy, Janet Kay) and features vocals by Lois Ramdeen. The track was a Canadian single released in 1980 on G Clef Records, Inc. Soon after it was chosen as a track for a double LP set titled "Prime Cuts 1" on Importe 12 Records - which featured a compilation of the greatest dance tracks.

"Body Contact" is a sensual and keyboard driven track - and now given a ReStructure Mix to extended the play and feel of the track. New drum beats and percussion are added to accentuate the movement.

This ReStructure is dedicated to Cesar L. - thanks for requesting!

"Get Up (Rock Your Body)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Machine 202

"Get Up (Rock Your Body)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Machine 202

The Machine 202 was produced by Billy Arnell and Steve Loeb - a duo which produced Jessica Bell's "Ode To Four" in 1977 and a heavy metal rock project by Riot titled "Narita" in 1979.

The pair may have dabbled this once in disco music using none-other than Jocelyn Brown on lead vocals. The 12' single was a huge success at the end of the disco era in late 1979 throughout 1980 for a track which emphasized and celebrated disco music to the form.

I have ReStructured the original 12" version and added the heavy claps along with some extracted percussion to give the flow of the new mix an extended energy. The song really cooks and make disco music the celebration it was intended for.

"San Salvador" by Azoto - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"San Salvador" by Azoto - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Celso Valli created Azoto in 1978 with their first LP "Music Makers Ltd." - it was Italo-disco of the late 70's. A formulation of synthesizers, strings, bass and heavy percussion.

The follow up LP "Disco Fizz" was released in 1979 featuring several dance floor classics: "Anytime Or Place", "Soft Emotion" and "San Salvador". All with the lyrical feel of pure Euro-disco and the edge, which Valli places in his compositions and productions.

"San Salvador" is featured in this Disco Video Mix along with scenes from the 1984 adventure film, "Romancing The Stone" starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito - a film about a romance novel caught in a dangerous adventure - and although the film takes place in Columbia, Ken and I agreed the festive nature belongs wonderfully with Azoto's Italo-disco classic.

The film was directed by Robert Zemeckis
