"Let Me Take You Dancing" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bryan Adams

• "Let Me Take You Dancing" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bryan Adams

Even though he never intended this track to sound like a disco number – thanks to fantastic mix by Jim Luongo and a pitch up on Bryan’s vocals this song became one of 1979’s well known dance cuts.

Even today, Mr. Adams hates to admit that he did it – but it remains a commodity of many disco connoisseurs top lists.

Produced by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance

"This Is Hot" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pamela Stanley

• "This Is Hot" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pamela Stanley

In 1979 Pamela Stanley was on top of the disco ball with "This Is Hot" - not only did the song display a polished arrangement, a fantastic Disco Mix by Rick Gianatos, and outstanding production by Joachim Heider but it also contained Pamela's wonderful vocals.

The LP "This Is Hot" was a playground for Pamela and her induction into the discotheques all over the world. Her success during the 80's with her own releases of hits like "I Don't Want To Talk About It" and "Coming Out Of Hiding" are tracks that most can identify with.

I have taken "This Is Hot" extended pieces of the track to create a ReStructure Mix for a return of this magical dance number.

NOTE: Stay tuned for an appearance by Pamela Stanley on Strictly Confidential with host, Peter Godbold

This gem from 1986 is a track that shines even now in the same light. Rose Lauren’s brought to life this beautiful love song brings art to life.

I have taken the 1690 film “The World Of Suzie Wong” starring William Holden and Nancy Kwan and paired the two in a new outline for a love from different corners of the world. And though the ideas and lives may differ, they find a way of discovering a feeling deeper below the surface.

“American Love” was produced by Jean-Pierre Goussaud.

Dedicated to Tony from London for requesting such a lovely disco track.

"Eaten Alive" by Diana Ross - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Eaten Alive" by Diana Ross - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

WATCH ON MULTIPLY

From the 1985 LP “Eaten Alive”, Diana Ross sounded comfortable taking dance floors by weaving street beats with 80’s synth pop. This production was a vibe of playfulness on Ross’ vocals and a team consisting of Barry Gibb and Michael Jackson as coordinators.

The track used a massive sound of pounding drum tracks and trickling percussion to outline a fantasy like uncontrollable love tale.

The 1975 Spielberg film, “Jaws” seemed more than appropriate than just a play on words. The terror that this film added to movie history still lingers on. And although we have seen films with more evil intent and gore the mysterious predator in this story seems a bit more of nightmare that would even keep “The Sandman” awake.

Dedicated to the hardcore Diana Ross fans, the master, Mr. Spielberg and his unlimited imagination and Roy Scheider who passed away this year in 2008.

"Ain't That Enough For You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - John Davis and The Monster Orchestra

• "Ain't That Enough For You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - John Davis and The Monster Orchestra

John Davis was involved in disco music for many years. His productions of Universe City in 1976 gave an example of his direction in dance music. His earlier affiliations were productions with artist, William DeVaughn and a project with Joey Travolta (John’s younger brother).

With his “Monster Orchestra” John brought to life a few classics that a synonymous to disco music: “Ain’t That Enough For You” and “Love Magic” as well as earlier projects, “The Magic Is You” and “Night and Day”. His true power was during the period where disco music was pieced together by mix and arrangements.

His classic track “Ain’t That Enough For You” is the ReStructure spotlight – re-arranged and re-ordered for a whole new feel.

"Beat The Street" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sharon Redd

• "Beat The Street" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sharon Redd

Classic disco music is recognized not only by name, but also by sound. It was 1982 when Sharon Redd, Eric Matthew and Darryl Payne introduced "Redd Hott" on Prelude Records. It was "Beat The Street" (released as the first single) which brought dance floors literally to their feet.

This track utilized the sound of synthesized tracks along with a simple orchestration to create a whole new breed of dance music for this period. Sharon was know to show up unexpectedly at New York clubs and pulled up to stage to perform this track along with others from her first LP simply titled "Sharon Redd" - with "Can You Handle It" being that hit track.

It was not long before Sharon proved to be not only a fantastic profile for disco, but also a fabulous entertainer. Her career moved throughout the mid 80's and slowly declined in the late 80's. Sadly, she passed in 1992 - but not without leaving us several dance numbers to keep her memory alive and respected.

My ReStructure Mix of "Beat The Street" is dedicated in Sharon's energy and also thanks to Galaxy558 for the request.

"Think It Over" by Cissy Houston - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

WATCH ON MULTIPLY

Cissy Houston (Whitney's mother) was a commodity in disco music during 1978 – her dance floor hit, “Think It Over” is a track that will be long remembered as one of the most powerful female defiance songs of the disco era. The best part is that is so hardcore and underground that most will never hear it, unless they have by some luck found it. In 2000 this track was covered by Jennifer Holiday, but the original with the Michael Zager production remains the best.

More of Michael Zager’s production magic of the disco era is displayed in both the orchestral arrangement and the dance mix. I have taken a close call here by combining Adrian Lyne film “Fatal Attraction” from 1987 with Houston’s track. It is a bit heavy and to the point – but that’s what Cissy brings out in her wonderful vocal.

I have attempted to keep away from the blood and gore of some scenes. Just a touch of the outline should keep any man monogamous. The film stars Michael Douglas, Glenn Close and Anne Archer.

A special thanks to all of you who make these videos work with your imagination and love for disco music. Keeping it alive is where it is.

"Magic Or Disco" - Incredible Italo Disco!

"Magic Or Disco" is a compilation of Italo-Disco tracks that bring into mind just this question.

A wonderful CD with some of the brightest and beautiful dance tracks ever released. Many have an anthem like quality with a touch of "fantasy" sprinkled on top.

"Seabiscuit In The Fifth" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Belinda West

• "Seabiscuit In The Fifth" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Belinda West

Released on Panorama Records in 1980 – Recorded by Belinda (Womack) West a well-respected jazz vocalist from Augusta, Ga. The track was produced by Bruce Dees and Rob Galbraith and was a savior during its release. It reached #14 on the Billboard Dance charts and was also one of the most original dance songs of its time. And along with Belinda’s outstanding performance this track has much to last with.

The wonderful lyrics played out a no-loser betting opportunity on love from the nightlife – obviously a woman wanting something with confidence.

I have taken the original 12” arrangement and made few changes with only a few new points of interest along the mix. This ReStructure is dedicated to the hardcore dance followers who can’t get enough of great dance music.

Italo-disco began an innovative journey from 1980 throughout the latter part of this dance era. Many musicians of this generation were heavily influenced by the beauty of Euro-disco, yet were obviously searching for a sound that was adventurous and fresh.

Bands such as Sun-La-Shan emphasized a feel for keyboards and arrangements that were just a phenomenal as the German work of Kraftwerk. In a time where experimental techniques were key their track “Catch” became a sound that even today perplexes and tweaks the mind.

In 1982 this single was released on their label Superradio and was produced by Franco Scopinich (Atmosphere, Camaro’s Gang, Dance Club) and featured strange but alluring vocals by Venise.

I asked Italo-disco specialist, Alex Nikitin (http://www.euro-flash.net/) a track from this genre which to apply with a Video Mix and “Catch” was it. Sounded great to me – but which film would work over the mysterious sound and flow of the song? After a few minutes of thought, the images of the 1977 horror film by Dario Argento were embedded in my mind. The two were made for each other.

And even though the spoken elements of the dance track “Catch” are quite a mystery the terror of “Suspiria” seem to answer the keyboards, which haunt the track.

“Suspiria” stars Jessica Harper, Stefania Casini and Flavio Bucci – my first time viewing this film as a teenager made me sleepless for several nights. Now I find the allure of “Suspiria” being the genius of Argento’s outline to brilliantly capture suspense and horror as art.

This Video Mix is a salute to Italo-disco and Dario Argento.
