"Automat" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Automat

• "Automat" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Automat

Automat is a electro-disco and ambient production from 1978. It was programmed by Mario Maggi and produced and composed by Claudio Gizzi.

The track has elements of Kraftwerk and a bit of sequencer bits similar to Giorgio Moroder. It has always been more of an underground record which makes it more appealing.

I have ReStructured pieces of the "Automat" medley and added new beats, percussion and rhythm tracks to enhance the flow.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Rene S. in Rotterdam - thanks Rene for all of your support and energy.

"Kung Fu Fighting" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Carl Douglas

"Kung Fu Fighting" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Carl Douglas

Jamaican born singer Carl Douglas began his career in the 60's with a group titled Carl Douglas and The Big Stampede - their hit "Crazy Feeling" was a chart entry.

"Kung Fu Fighting" was released in 1974 and became an instant hit on dance floors and radio everywhere. The LP "Kung Fu Fighter" was produced by Biddu and was the funkiest music around at the time.

This ReStructure takes the track back to the action-packed dance and adds a few more beat elements and loops some of the fantastic guitar and wah-wah effect riffs.

"Disco Choo Choo" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Nightlife Unlimited

"Disco Choo Choo" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Nightlife Unlimited

The Canadian disco explosion was a during the mid and late 70's when a formula had been extracted from years of dance floor action - it was obvious that the break was no longer added - it was essential.

Bands like Nightlife Unlimited created dance floor pieces that were with every aspect of disco in mind. It was then that scattered percussion and synthesizers were in song and not just the mix itself.

"Disco Choo Choo" is from the LP "Nightlife Unlimited" from 1979 - produced by George Cucuzzella and Peter Dimilo of Erotic Drum Band success.

I have taken "Disco Choo Choo" and given it some news "tracks" to ride on - adding a couple of snippets from the fantastic soundtrack of the 1976 adventure film, "Silver Streak" by Henry Mancini. It is a disco flowing trip!

"Happiness" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pointer Sisters

• "Happiness" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pointer Sisters

A warm up period for The Pointer Sisters was the early and late 70's before their pop-diva stature took effect with tracks like "Jump" and"I'm So Excited". It was easily understandable with tracks like "Happiness" from 1978. It was obvious their vocals were a stamp on any track the touched.

"Happiness" was a huge hit in clubs and maintained the feel of disco-funk along with soulful vocals. It was not long after that this track was featured as a forerunner in gay dance clubs as an anthem.

I have re-worked the gals with a many new breaks and extended some of the riffs that make this song funk, yet very disco elegance!

"Love Injection" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Trussel

"Love Injection" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Trussel

A big funk dance track from 1979, which is now considered one of the top disco songs of all time.

"Love Injection" comes from Trussel - a band whose talents and energy were to catapult them to fame. Unfortunately, their label did not take advantage of the promise.

Trussel consisted of Bill McGee, Ron Smith, Larry Tynes, Michael Gray, Herman Maclin, Hannon Lane, Lynwood Jones, Michael Spratley, Veronica Jones, Junius Dyson - we have much of their work to cement their talent and groove.

I have taken "Love Injection" and broken it up into parts and added some new rhythm tracks as well as constructed a few new breaks from original elements.

This ReStructure Mix dedicated to Paul from The Netherlands

“Move Over Darling” by Linda Taylor – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Move Over Darling” by Linda Taylor – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

High-energy music continued in the 80’s with the help of innovation and uplifting concepts – the genius of taking a theme from the 60’s romp, “Move Over Darling” originally performed by Doris Day and creating a disco sensation is one of the best.

Linda Taylor was one of the top session singers from the UK – recording with bands Gonzalez, The Art of Noise, and Shakatak. Her singles collection includes a dance floor hit, “You And Me Just Started” from 1982.

Her disco cover of “Move Over Darling” produced by Martyn Norris and Richard Cottle in a small gem – it captures the playful feel that the original intended.

I have taken the 1963 film, “Move Over Darling” and placed the images over the wonderful dance version to bring the light hearted comedy and the spirit of fun into a Disco Video Mix. The films stars Doris Day and James Garner and was directed by Michael Gordon.

This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to a fun-loving energy in my life, Dale Switzer.

“Savage Lover” by The Ring – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Savage Lover” by The Ring – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Producer Marcus Barone brought the studio band The Ring to life with their underground hit, “Savage Lover” – quite a mover and shaker. Long before a trance life feel was outlined in disco music “Savage Lover” brought the hypnotic and alluring feel of jungle percussion to life.

It has always been a dramatic moment for dance floors and even more so now with the accompanying of the 1976 film, “King Kong” with Jessica Lange and Jeff Bridges. The story always outlined a great love between beauty and the beast – or perhaps an understanding. But it is now more “savage” than ever.

The film was directed John Guillermin – the original version of “King Kong” was released in 1933 and starred Fay Wray.

"Fly Too High" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Janis Ian

"Fly Too High" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Janis Ian

Talented singer-songwriter, Janis Ian took a brief turn into disco along with the master himself - Giorgio Moroder in 1979 with "Fly Too High". The single is from her LP titled, "Night Rains" - the track was also featured on the soundtrack from the film, "Foxes" the same year.

The song's original laid back sound is challenged in this ReStructure Mix with a touch of a few new elements and a re-looping of the tracks magic. It is one of the most intriguing not only for the recording history but also the wonder of how Moroder's magic synthesizers and keyboards worked in many ways.

"I'll Be Yours" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lime

Denis and Denyse Lapage are Lime and took over dance floors in 1980 with their single "Your Love" - it was a return to a high energy dance arrangement with an innovative electronic twist (pardon the pun).

"I'll Be Yours" is from their LP released in 1981 - another big club hit which has every aspect of Lepage's style and efforts. Ominous bass and a dramatic string arrangement.

I have moved in on this song by piecing together the horns and strings with the percussion again, but in a new order and secession.

This ReStructure is dedicated to one of Lime's most dedicated fans, Dominique. Thank you, Dominique for keeping the essence of Lime fresh and alive!

“Lucky Tonight” by Sarah Dash – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Lucky Tonight” by Sarah Dash – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Sarah Dash began her career with LaBelle in 1971 – throughout time, her vocal talent always displayed the finest soul female notes – both power and energy. In 1978 her big disco hit, “Sinner Man” displayed Sarah well.

In 1983 Sarah paired up with disco producer, Patrick Cowley and released 2 singles on Megaton Records – “Low Down Dirty Rhythm” and “Lucky Tonight”. Both tracks were successful in clubs and gave the pairing a lasting resonance with collectors and dancers.

I have taken “Lucky Tonight” a gave it an edge with the 1995 Martin Scorsese film, “Casino” starring Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone – I focused more on the Stone’s character and decisions and gamble on luck she took through out the film – of course which eventually ends up with all of the chips down.

"Walking On Music" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Peter Jacques Band

1978 launches the attack on dance floors from producer Jacques Fred Petrus and Mauro Malavasi!

"Fire Night Dance" is a dynamite disco production featuring the turning point for both the sound of disco and dancers needs! Breaks were solidified and emphasized as energy and a creative flow.

I have taken "Walking On Music" and chopped and pasted the high points and created many breakdowns and additional production. This track moves that a hurricane and is one of my all-time favorites!

Dedicated to the die-hard disco fans - never let the uplifting beat stop!

“Megatron Man” by Patrick Cowley – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Megatron Man” by Patrick Cowley – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The sound of keyboards and synthesizers exploded in 1981 with Patrick Cowley’s project “Megatron Man” – this being the new age of electronic disco. The mid and late 70’s were given a taste of sequencers and robotic keyboard melodies as artists like Giorgio Moroder left a wide space in our minds for synthetic disco music.

Patrick Cowley had been a vital part of disco’s transition to high energy during the second dance explosion in the early 80’s. It was obvious with tracks like “Menergy” and “Megatron Man” that disco music was ready for another growth period.

I have taken “Megatron Man” and blended it with the 1982 sci-fi adventure film, “Tron” starring Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner and David Warner. The graphics and adventure are appropriate in the fantasy of Cowley’s now classic.

The film was directed by Steven Lisberger

“Gigolo” by Mary Wells – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Mary Wells (“My Guy”, “The One Who Really Loves You”) returns in 1981 with a slick dance track called, “Gigolo”. From her LP, “In And Out Of Love” comes this single.

It is one of those club tracks that will always catch your fingertips (snapping) and hips moving – a great disco number for a Motown Diva.

I have taken the 1980 Paul Schrader film, “American Gigolo” and moved onto a visual medley of Richard Gere – the “American Gigolo” himself. The film also stars Lauren Hutton. It is a “business is pleasure” montage.

Thanks to Loulou from The Netherlands for giving me the concept for this Disco Video Mix.

"I Like You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Phyllis Nelson

Phyllis Nelson scored a disco hit with "Don't Stop The Train" in 1980 - this incredible driving dance floor track made her instantly recognizable. Following a few more singles came her 1985 blockbuster club hit, "I Like You".

The song was mixed by Shep Pettibone with an exacting break and outlined arrangement which made it big everywhere.I have taken a request from Dean and Rick in Australia to make "I Like You" a ReStructure track.

I have scraped the 12" and found the pieces of the song which keep the residue alive. The arrangement is now back and forth - but the song emphasizes the same mood and words.

Dedicated to Rick and Dean - with disco energy and care :)

"I Got My Mind Made Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Instant Funk

Bunny Sigler, Raymond Earl, Kim Miller, Scotty Miller and Dennis Richardson are Instant Funk - so funky!

"I Got My Mind Made Up" was the big surprise in 1978 for discotheques - a funk and percussion driven exchange of sensual excitement. This one started the "Say What" phrase all over the place. It was pure excitement. This one has the big prize for taking disco music of a whole new ride.

This ReStructure takes the track into a new realm with a looping that accentuates the driving percussion track and a few of the keyboard and horn elements.

“Dancer” by Gino Soccio - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Dancer” by Gino Soccio - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Gino Soccio created the LP “Outline” in 1978 - it’s innovative content moved dance floors and set a new style of disco music in motion. Soccio work with studio bands Kebekelektrik and With Queen helped to solidify a sound that was becoming the cutting edge of disco productions in the late 70’s.

“Dancer” is a mystifying track with a variation of sounds - hardcore disco elements, trance-like aura and a driving electro influence. Many of his projects to follow would inject this formula, yet retain an original presence.

This Disco Video Mix takes this masterpiece and places if below the 1983 music/drama “Flashdance” starring Jennifer Beals and Michael Nouri. The film was the story of a club dancer dreaming of reaching success with her talent. It was a successful film with a memorable theme track, which now is moved with a 70’s classic disco track.

“Robot Is Systematic” by ‘Lectric Workers - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Italo disco producers Franco Rago and Gigi Farina (Wanexa, Message From Future, Expansives) created their studio band, ‘Lectric Workers in 1982 with “Robot Is Systematic” - this track was an innovative instrumental with roaring power behind it. Think of a techno/electronic version of Kat Mandu’s disco classic, “The Break”.

An instant hit on disco dance floors!

I have taken the 1986 sci-fi comedy, “Short Circuit” starring Ally Sheedy and Steve Guttenberg to match the energy of ‘Robot Is Systematic” - the energy is close and then some.
