ReStructure Mix Update (6/28/15) “Stubborn Kind Of Fella” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Buffalo Smoke
Buffalo Smoke is a disco project from 1976 produced by former Fifth Dimension member, Lou Courtney. Their cover of the 1962 Marvin Gaye soul-classic “Stubborn Kind Of Fellow” is pumped into a rousing disco number with a great lead vocal by Lou and a nice backing female duo (Christine Wright, Natalie Maryland) echoing throughout. The album was arranged by L. Leon Pendarvis and speaks the classic sound of the mid-70s where the disco tempo and beat are the added to discofy the production.
I have taken the double A-sided 12” single of “Stubborn Kind Of Fellow” and worked a ReStructure Mix to give the powerhouse sound a new edge. Lots of new percussion and drums accentuate the rhythmic flow of this all-together love song where this guy is not giving up soon. One of my favorite disco 12” underground classics and once I start to hear the chorus it takes a while to leave.
