"Rhythm Of Life" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Afro-Cuban Band

• "Rhythm Of Life" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Afro-Cuban Band

Michael Zager worked with the disco concept as began to mature and take on a new form. His formula was close to an orchestration for the beat with an uplifting theme. His production of Afro-Cuban Band in 1978 brought on a light flair for dance floors and worked around the theme of Cuban style percussion.

“Rhythm Of Life” worked with Zager’s sound of his production of “Let’s All Chant” with his keyboards generating rippling and sequencer like patterns. The musicians on this project were some of his best. Including Francisco Centano on bass and a full horn section.

I have reworked “Rhythm Of Life” and infused a bit more of the breaks and fantastic horn sections throughout the song.

In 1977 Celi Bee and The Buzzy Bunch recorded “Superman – Herbie Mann took on a disco production produced by Patrick Adams and featured a cover of the song. It was an instant hit on dance floors again.

The track utilized Mann’s captivating flute talents and created a flowing feel in this new production. Adams included his disco production stamp with strings and non-stop percussion.

I have taken the 1978 film version of “Superman” directed by Richard Donner and pieced together a montage to move along close to this disco number. Christopher Reeves and Margot Kidder starred in the blockbuster movie.

• "Set Me Free" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Three Degrees

The Three Degrees were Philadelphia's golden sound. In 1979, Giorgio Moroder produced "3D" following the success of the 1978 production of "New Dimensions".

This powerhouse of talent created some of the most incredible disco music ever. "Set Me Free" was a hit off of the "3D" LP and remains one of the most beautiful synth driven tracks.

I have ReStructured the track to give some new breath and arrangements to this classic Moroder/3 Degrees number.

Boris Midney was the conductor of disco music’s innovative edge from 1978 with the introduction to his new style of dance music with USA European Connection’s “Come Into My Heart/Good Loving”.

In 1979 Midney created a studio project using the 1883 tale The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, which was adapted by Walt Disney in 1940. This disco operetta was in the vein of works such as “Romeo and Juliet” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” by Alec R. Constandinos – but with Midney’s unique style of composition and arrangements. Vocals are by Chequita Jackson and Kevin Owens.

I have taken Walt Disney’s classic and placed it on the same canvas with Midney’s now underground classic disco works. This is intended to make you feel like a child at heart, again. Pure fantasy and escape.

"From Here To Eternity" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Giorgio

• "From Here To Eternity" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Giorgio

In 1977 Giorgio Moroder recorded "From Here To Eternity" on his quest to use electronics to enhance, as well as create a whole new disco sound. This project is one of the most refined and respected studio recordings in disco music today. Although time has passed and many new elements of electronic music have surfaced, none have touched the compositions or recording savvy of this gem.

I have made "From Here To Eternity" an entity of it's own using the mood that it was originally meant to relay - in my mind. It percolates and flutters into a new adventure in this ReStructure Mix.

Dedicated to the die hard disco fans with an appetite for electronic fantasy.

"Night Time" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sticky Fingers

• "Night Time" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sticky Fingers

From Three Hats Productions (THP) came some of the most exciting disco productions of the era. Ian Guenther & Willi Morrison produced Sticky Fingers in 1978 on Prelude Records – a studio project that featured Phyllis and Helen Duncan on vocals. Similar to the THP #2 production as well as the self titled LP “The Duncan Sisters” from 1979.

This ensemble featured musicians that obviously were tuned in to what disco music had become – pure excitement.

“Night Time” was a track that flowed simply with guitar licks and strings that emphasized the drama of the disco arrangement. It had always been one of the most exciting tracks to me. So taking the song into a whole new arrangement and adding some new elements was a pleasure. The LP featured 3 more powerhouse tracks: "Wastin' My Love", "Takin' A Chance On You" and a funky dance rendition, "Party Song".

Not much has been heard from The Duncan’s since the early 80’s but these vocal tracks can hold your attention when you are looking for a sheer disco vocal sound.

• "I Love The Nightlife (Disco Round)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Alicia Bridges

Alicia Bridges created the theme for discothèques all over the world in 1978 with her big hit, “I Love The Nightlife (Disco Round)” – the song went to #5 in the Billboard Top 100 that year.

The song has been heard over and over throughout time bringing back the energy and grace of the disco nightlife throughout time. I have recreated a ReStructure Mix using the original 12 Inch elements from Jim Burgess’ flawless mix and also created a few new rhythm outlines and breaks.

This mix goes out to Paul C. of New York who brought this request to me and asked that the “huh” be used throughout the mix – it’s all yours, Paul – thanks for being so supportive and helpful, always!

The 1963 Alfred Hitchcock horror classic, “The Birds” is the outline for The Salsoul Orchestra’s disco-fied Russian-ballet, “The Firebird” by Stravinsky from 1910.

“Magic Bird of Fire” is a wonderful outline for the disco symphony that made disco music widely acceptable for its layered disco arrangements. The 1977 LP “The Journey Continues” was produced by Vincent Montana, Jr. and also featured “Runaway” with Loleatta Holloway, their Grammy winning cover of Earth Wind and Fire’s “Getaway”, as well as the 1976 theme from the Montreal Olympics.

• "You're Too Late" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Fantasy

Tony Valor (Tony Valor Sounds Orchestra, Maryann Farra & Satin Soul, and Soccer) brought back the sound of funk and disco combined in 1980 with his production of Fantasy – featuring Fonda Rae on lead vocals on “You’re Too Late”.

The track was lost in a time where disco music was becoming questionable among play lists. The project was assisted by John Luongo and José Rodriguez.

I have taken the track and mixed up a new possibility for the funky number. The endless piano riff is still sensual and has a hypnotic edge.

Michael Lewis and Lauren Rinder gave us many memorable moments during the disco years. Their projects always made an impact on dance floors with thanks to their dedication to creating disco music influenced by dance floors.

Saint Tropez being one of the most polished of their projects and immense success with “One More Minute” in 1978. The track became an instant hit and outlined best the act. A great recording of disco in the height of its success. The track to this day still has some of the grooviest guitars and bass line to move along with the disco beat.

I have taken “One More Minute” and given it the ReStructure touch along with a few extra breaks and a gentler mix out.

"Mischief" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - French Kiss

• "Mischief" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - French Kiss

Simon Soussan produced artist such as Jessica Williams, Pattie Brooks, Romance, Arpeggio, Shalamar, Leroy Gomez, Charisma and French Kiss.

From his 1979 project "Panic!" featuring, Jessica Williams, Lamar Stevens and Muffi Durham came an intriguing instrumental piece titled, "Mischief". This track was a hypnotic track with a pulsating synthesizer outline and some great strings accenting it. It was one of those tracks with much promise on the dance floor.

This ReStructure Mix extends the hook of the song and gives it an extended arrangement.

Dedicated to Cole for bringing the song back into my mind - it was always a favorite.
