ReStructure Mix Update (1/30/21) “Loveline” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Shawne Jackson

ReStructure Mix Update (1/30/21) “Loveline” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Shawne Jackson

Shawne Jackson is a Canadian singer and songwriter whose career began at the age of 15 and eventually leads her into the early 80’s. She recorded the track “Loveline” (which was also recorded by Tavares in 1981). The production is executed by Willi Morrison and Ian Guenther of THP Productions and also responsible for Duncan Sisters, THP Orchestra, Skatt Bros, and American Fade. The slick electronic keyboards help this rekindling a nice update and some nice riffs make it a transition for the big disco productions of their past a wonderful sound. Shawne executes the sexy vocal in her own unique sound and make the sound her own on more than one way. It is a nice shift from the hardcore disco of the late 70’s into a funk driven 80’s.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Loveline” for a new version in this ReStructure Mix. It features a use of both vocal and instrumentation that it pieced into several new breaks a funk foundation for Shawne.

REISSUE:“After Dark" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pattie Brooks

REISSUE:“After Dark" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pattie Brooks From her 1978 LP "Our Miss Brooks" - "After Dark" was also included on the soundtrack to "Thank God It's Friday". This is a track that will never run out of charm. It was memorizing from it's release. Simon Soussan produced and mixed by Bob Stone. Perfection. My only reason for attempting a ReStructure Mix was to take Pattie's classic onto my chopping block and have some fun. The percussion alone in this fabulous song is enough to make it a winner - and the bass line is a fantasy on the dance floor. Applause again goes to Pattie and her wonderful approach with this powerhouse tune.

REISSUE: “Shake What You Got” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Pulse

REISSUE: “Shake What You Got” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Pulse Pulse is a disco band from 1978 with members James Aaron Johnson and Jim Johnson. Their single “Shake What You Got” is a nice blend of soul and pumping disco with a great hook that makes the mood irresistible. It was one of the singles that fit perfect for that independent disco label sound. A breakout of many new dance companies backing the disco theme. This one is one of favorites of its style and makes the time period come right back into the feet. I have taken the 12” version of “Shake What You Got” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix for a trip back to 1978. More percussion is beefing up those blaring horn sections and a surprise break from a disco classic is blended in as treat.

REISSUE: "At The Discotheque" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lipstique

REISSUE: "At The Discotheque" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lipstique Producer, Jurgen S. Korduletsch worked with wife, Claudja Barry in creating a whole new direction for disco music. In 1977 a project titled Lipstique revived Chubby Checker’s 1965 hit, “At The Discotheque”. This was a project, which definitely had some heart and soul. It became one of the first well-known side long endeavors that never ran out of steam. The vocals may have sounded familiar to many since it was The Sweethearts of Sigma carrying the song into a fantasy-like realm. The LP was originally released on Ensign Records and included a bonus track titled “Goodnight Sweetheart” which was removed from the Tom N’ Jerry release of the same year. Tom Moulton executed the flawless mix and is reworked in a ReStructure effort to take the song deeper.

REISSUE: “Midnight Rendezvous.” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tasha Thomas

REISSUE: “Midnight Rendezvous.” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Tasha Thomas Tasha Thomas is a singer/performer whose career includes backing recording sessions for Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder, Cat Stevens and Jim Croce. Her stage career includes the Broadway production of “The Wiz” where she played “Aunt Em” in the mid-70’s. “Midnight Rendezvous’ is her 1979 disco album produced by James R. Glazer and Peter Rugle. The title track is an oasis of sensual love set to a disco beat. One of genuine sounds of the disco era and a vocal that flows with a soulful whimsical edge. I have taken the 12” version of “Midnight Rendezvous” and recreated a new ReStructure Mix using the mysterious horns and percussion to drive this new piece. I have added a delayed drum track to give it a new pace in segments.

REISSUE: "Here Comes That Sound Again" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Love De-Luxe with Hackshaw's Discophonia

REISSUE: "Here Comes That Sound Again" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Love De-Luxe with Hackshaw's Discophonia Another Euro-disco producer who meshed with the likes of Cerrone, Alec R. Costandinos and Miquel Brown. Here he creates a sound using all of his experience. A great venture into the pure sound of disco music. "Here Comes That Sound Again" is ReStructured from the full LP version and uses all of the elements that made it a dance floor classic. Great strings and bass guitars.

REISSUE: “Dancing In The Dark” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Bruce Springsteen

REISSUE: “Dancing In The Dark” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Bruce Springsteen Bruce Springsteen is an American icon in rock music. His song writing became a brand that made his music more poetic to fans. His 1984 album “Born In The U.S.A.” is an iconic return for Springsteen as it contained many tracks that stood out and also like “Dancing In The Dark” transformed this rocker into a synth-pop star. The track follows his hard delivery which fits into this play into a moment where stripping away the meaningless tasks of the day for his lover is expressed simply in their midst. The rawness of the love and the attitude are pure rock ‘n roll yet the energy play out well in the 80’s dance scene. I have taken the 12” vocal and dub version of “Dancing In The Dark” and recreated a new synth driven ReStructure Mix to pay homage to the 80’s dance scene and Bruce’s part in adding his mark in dance music history.

REISSUE: “Red Light Lover” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Gwen Jonae

REISSUE: “Red Light Lover” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Gwen Jonae Gwen Jonae is a high energy artist produced by Paul Sabu (Debbie Jacobs, Sabu, Sister Power, Ann Margret) during the early 80’s. Her big club hit titled “Destiny” from 1983 is also one of her well-known tracks as well as her work with Sister Power and the big disco hit “Gimme Back My Love Affair” from 1979. Her powerful vocals were the incantation of a pure disco diva of her time. Many club performances proved that live and along with Paul Sabu’s rockin’ disco production her work was a much welcomed talent to dance floors. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Red Light Lover” and recreated a new ReStructure Mix with a new intro for the blaring high- energy track. It is a more powerful take on the “Lady Marmalade” fix and works like a slick dance piece that keeps pumping and pumping.

REISSUE: "We're Gonna Rock" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sabu

REISSUE: "We're Gonna Rock" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sabu Paul Sabu was the producer and artist to top the late 70s off with arrangements and production which are the icing on the disco-cake. Most of his productions have become classics with the style and sound this talented man created. His work has included artists such as Debbie Jacobs, Ann Margret and Sister Power all of which created a whirlwind on dance floors during their release. His 1979 album titled “Sabu” brought a rock-edged rhythm to dance floors and made each night more exciting. His guitar play and vocal in tracks from this project introduced a new energy to dancers. “We’re Gonna Rock” is the single which received a big reception and hands pounding up to the mirror-ball in an anthem like feel. I have taken the album version of “We’re Gonna Rock” and created this ReStructure Mix breaking apart the infectious rhythm section with some of the playful looping and machine-gun edits to bring an alternative version to feel the fire balls explode right before the deejay booth. It is one of the Saturday night favorites and peak-hour tracks that I would love to transition to for a new layer of energy. This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to the “Rockin’ Rollin’ Disco King” himself, Mr. Paul Sabu in appreciation for his talents in producing, mixing and performing to keep the celebration worth it.

REISSUE: “Shockwave” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – David Knopfler

REISSUE: “Shockwave” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – David Knopfler David Knopfler is a guitarist from Glasgow who was formerly a founder and member of the band Dire Straits in the 70’s. His solo career beginning in 1983 gave him projects up to current days and his music ranged from rock to pop style ballads and folk songs. “Shockwave” is from his 1984 album "Behind The Lines” that he self-produced and falls into the high energy sound that dance floors clamored for. It is one of the winding sequencer tracks that reave up into a crescendo of energy. One of my favorites from the time period when rock-pop and dance was woven together in several creative processes during the time. I have taken the 12” version of “Shockwave” and reworked a ReStructure Mix that takes the percussion parts of this monster onto a new arrangement. The focus is the same where the rockin’ vocal leads to a hard edged desire and more breaks give it the dance floor stability.

REISSUE: "Rock Me Now" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Peter Batah

REISSUE: "Rock Me Now" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Peter Batah Peter Batah is a Canadian disco artist whom released 2 big club hits during the early 80s transition from disco-to-high energy. "Rock Me Now" is his single from 1980 which created a craving for high-disco tracks all-over again in the early 80s. The track was produced by Claude Allard who also produced Black Star and Miki Hope - and also worked on tracks for Lime, France Joli, Freddie James, Suzy Q and U.N.. Some notes suggest this may even be Denis LePage under an alias. I have taken the original Canadian 12" - using the vocal and instrumental creating a ReStructure Mix for "Rock Me Now" using more of the electronic features of the mix for a longer intro and more fantastic drop breaks in between. It is one of those rock-pop disco numbers similar to what Paul Sabu was releasing as Sabu.

ReStructure Mix Update (1/26/21) “On The Road Again” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Rockets

ReStructure Mix Update (1/26/21) “On The Road Again” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Rockets

Rockets are Claude Lemoine, Alain Groetzinger, Alain Maratrat, André Thus, Bernard Torelli, Christian Le Bartz, Fabrice Quagliotti, Gerard L'Her and Sal Solo. This futuristic styled band in the late 70’s became an underground hit with their sound engaging a mix of synthetic effects with a rock fused style. “One The Road Again” is from their 1978 project by the same title and is one of their signature tracks. A touch of doo-wop meets disco/space funk. Their sound changed in the 80’s to more of a nu-wave influence and also gave them more of an opportunity to utilize their unique stage presence. Rockets are in indeed one of the sounds of the late 70s which was unique and ahead of its sound.

I have taken the 12” version of “On The Road Again” and worked it into a new ReStructure Mix. A bass beat with more of a union for this space age piece is added for a rhythmic feel and more of the sequencers are placed among the journey here.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Antonio Fisichella – thanks for requesting this great band for a remix and may the force stay with you!

REISSUE: “Love Is Finally Coming My Way” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – True Example

REISSUE: “Love Is Finally Coming My Way” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – True Example True Example is one of Salsoul Records hidden gems with their disco archives. This single is the disco era outlined by Salsoul and influenced by the Philly groove and perfected by dance floors. “Love Is Finally Coming My Way” is a testimonial song about love finding itself in the heart of a needing soul. The vocals are reminiscent of classics by Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes and feature the beautiful tones of The Sweethearts of Sigma. The production by T.G. Conway lays out the Salsoul disco era in one piece. Always a favorite of mine when that “gold mind” label came into heart. I have taken the Walter Gibbons 12” version of “Love Is Finally Coming My Way” and rearranged the song to give it an ambient build and onto the gospel and soul feel of the climax. For those who like to fade along with the music there is also an ambient fade out. The song has been given a ReStructure Mix where pieces of the sounds that make it memorable are used in edits and loops to create lasting power.

REISSUE: "True Love Is My Destiny" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - James Wells

REISSUE: "True Love Is My Destiny" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - James Wells James Wells created a disco treasure with his disco LP "My Claim To Fame" - the underground feel of disco music infused with full orchestral feel. This was the sound that made disco music the sound that even today is looked back as the most innovative. Producers and artists took the sound and gave an interpretation of their own - creating a new style. "True Love Is My Destiny" is a track from the album that has always caught the attention of dance floors thanks to the infectious lead and bass guitar riffs. The positive feel of the song itself is a wonderful air itself. I have taken the album version and ReStructured it adding a new intro with beats and percussion to brighten the already exuberant song. It is one of the most adventurous sounds in disco and one that should be kept alive. Dedicated to the master, Mr. Ian Levine and Mr. Rick Gianatos who created the mix that moved many.

REISSUE: "Hazy Shades of Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Amant

REISSUE: "Hazy Shades of Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Amant Amant is a disco band from Ray Martinez - a man who is a dance music icon dedicated to the sound of disco music and the loving and admiring mood it creates. Ray worked with some of Miami's forerunners prior to disco making it's mark in the late 70s - offering his own style as the shaping tool of it's sound and popularity. "Hazy Shades Of Love" is the second single and side to the 1978 project "Amant" released on Henry Stone's Marlin Records and as single on T.K. Disco. This has and always be one of my favorite songs. There are layers and layers of elements from grooves to percussion riffs which are what made disco music exciting and adventurous of the time. I have taken the full album version and gave it a ReStructure Mix working in my own new and existing elements to layer in a new chapter for this fabulous song. My prime motivation is to pay homage to one the disco greats, Mr. Ray Martinez and Amant.

REISSUE: "Lady Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Patrick Juvet

REISSUE: "Lady Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Patrick Juvet Patrick Juvet is a vocalist from Montreux, Switzerland who began recording in 1973 - he has worked with Jean-Michel Jarre on his 1977 disco album "Paris By Night". In 1978 he was added to the artist roster at the monster disco label Casablanca Records and paired with producer, Jacques Morali - who was on a roll with his projects with The Ritchie Family, Village People, and Phylicia Allen. "Lady Night" is the second album from Patrick on Casablanca and has the disco edge that dominated the top disco influence of the time. The title track I have created a ReStructure Mix to give the song a new spotlight with some elements to make this night more exciting.

REISSUE: “Do You Know The Way To San Jose?” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Croisette

REISSUE: “Do You Know The Way To San Jose?” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Croisette Croisette is disco group created by Ian Levine and Fiachra Trench and began their dance floor fantasy in 1979 with their album “Keep It On Ice”. This project is one of the full orchestrated disco events from this pair and made this concept group last throughout the late 80’s. During the high energy boom of the early and mid-80’s this is one of the majestic sounds which formulated a wall of electric bass, strings and beats. “Do You Know The Way To San Jose?” is a cover of the 1968 Dionne Warwick hit – written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David) and transforms this shattering of dreams into a nice pounding energy with lush disco elements. The song itself is a lyrical masterpiece and is captured nicely in this Levine/Trench arrangement. I have taken the 12”: version of Croisette’s cover of “Do You Know The Way To San Jose?” and created a new ReStructure Mix for a tribute to the Record Shack/Nightmare Records high energy classic sound. Parts of the original are blended in for a bit of play.

ReStructure Mix Update (1/24/21) “U Came 2 Me” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Suzanne Jackson

Suzanne Jackson is a vocalist who works with Italian house producers Frank Minoia and Max Minoia on this majestic Italo-house track titled “U Came 2 Me” from 1991. The 90’s were a new arena for club music which used the legacy of house music and Italian dance producers took the elements of this genre and made it their own. A fresh edge was Italo-house which embodied the heavy bass and piano riffs into a sweeter and more energetic phase. The outline of “U Came 2 Me” is a confession of a love from the heart and mind of an adorned woman who is represented by Suzanne Jackson with a nice blend. This track was the top piece in my club for months after its release and represented the power that previous songs by Black Box, Lil’ Louis and many of the pop-artists who included a house remix in their single releases. The beautiful sweeping of pianos and the funky keyboards are the outstanding moments if the song. A house topper for producers who gave us several releases dedicated to this Italo-house more shine for us all.

I have taken the 12” version from “U Came 2 Me” and worked to pay tribute to Italo-house contributions in dance music history. This ReStructure Mix takes the high energy edge of each mic into an arrangement with a few new elements to give on a new edge.

REISSUE:“Bewitched” by Polly Brown – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE:“Bewitched” by Polly Brown – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Polly Brown is a singer from Birmingham, England who began recording in 1975 with her first LP “Special Delivery” – produced by Gerry Shury and Phillip Swern. Her single, “Up In A Puff Of Smoke” made it to #16 in the US charts. Her 1980 single “Bewitched” – which is a cover of a show tune from the 1940 Rogers and Hart musical, Pal Joey was a minor disco hit. At the time, I admired the return a pure disco arrangement – it is still one of my favorites! I have taken the 12” of the track and blended it appropriately with the 2005 film “Bewitched” starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell – the film is a comedy-romance story based on the 60s television show, “Bewitched” – with some reality adjusting. It flows along with Polly’s sultry and lovely vocal which always reminded me of a Diana Ross-esque sound. The film was directed by Nora Ephron Featuring scenes from “Bewitched” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: “Masterpiece” by Gazebo – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Masterpiece” by Gazebo – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Gazebo is Paul Mazzolini – an Italian singer/producer marking the 80s with many dance tracks now Italo-disco classics. His 1982 release “Masterpiece” is his first solo single and one of his most memorable. It is one of the innovative productions to bring 80s dance floors into a new period. The 1950 film “All About Eve” is the cinematic story behind this Disco Video Mix and although it is Broadway and not Hollywood – the story plays out the same. With images of Bette Davis it completes the “masterful” painting. The film was directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz Featuring scenes from “All About Eve” – RENT THE DVD! REISSUE: “Poinciana” by Paradise Express – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Poinciana” by Paradise Express – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Paradise Express is Herb Jimmerson and vocalist Vi Ann. Their presence in the late 70s help to complete the electronic sound of disco music along with a wonderful string and horn arrangement from Herb Jimmerson who was a part of the Fantasy Records disco family. Vi Ann had a unique sound which used the disco tracks as instant classics and also a favorite among DJs and dancers. “Poinciana” is a cover of the Ahmad Jamal 1958 lounge song which appears on the first album by Paradise Express. A very beautiful disco rendition that gives the song a new life with that disco fusion. I have taken the 1980 romantic adventure “The Blue Lagoon” and dashed some of the tropical scenes and love sequences to fulfill the treatment of this Disco Video Mix. The film was directed by Randall Kleiser Featuring scenes from “The Blue Lagoon” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: “Glide” by Musique – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Glide” by Musique – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Musique is a disco group from Patrick Adams and Christine Wiltshire with all of what disco music was made of during the mid and late 70s. Much of the productions were roaring with a Barry White-esque orchestral feel as well as a funk edge with the stomping disco beat on other tracks. This is a project which filled all of the needs of dance floors around the world for its time. Today the sound is classic among followers and many tracks remain fresh and exuberant as the day they were recorded. “Glide” is from the “Musique II” album released in 1979 and is one of the four favorites of mine from the album. It has the feel of a rush of ecstasy and the graceful sound of a symphony. Along with Christine Wiltshire on vocals the sound is my choice. I have taken the song in a Disco Video Mix to not only salute Mr. Patrick Adams and Ms. Christine Wiltshire – but also keep this beautiful music alive. The 1945 film “It’s A Pleasure” starring ice skating Princess Sonja Henie is the background for this melody and works along the theme of not only disco’s lilting sound – but the wonderful escape and freedom it creates. The film was directed by William A. Seiter Featuring scenes from “It’s A Pleasure” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to Mr. Patrick Adams and Ms. Christine Wiltshire – the world needs your sound again!

REISSUE: “Make That Feeling Come Again” by Beautiful Bend - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Make That Feeling Come Again” by Beautiful Bend - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Blending the beauty of Brian De Palma’s 1975 mystery, “Obsession” and Boris Midney’s production of Beautiful Bend’s “Make That Feeling Come Again” was an attempt to bring a flowing canvas of orchestral disco and cinematic visions. Both pieces are the most incredible in artistry. I have placed the classic 1978 disco piece “Make That Feeling Come Again” with “Obsession” to coincide with Cliff Robertson’s obsession with his wife’s death and the need to bring her image and her feeling back to life. Geneviève Bujold is placed in this masterpiece of images and a style of disco music that created by Boris Midney by using technical wizardry along with classical string sections and wonderful melodies that are interrupted by percussion breaks and haunting effects. Very similar along the outline of what the film “Obsession” is about. Taking the finale of the film and the last chorus of Midney’s wonderful piece I feel are the perfect closing for sound and pictures. “Love Power" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Roberta Kelly - https://youtu.be/KAoh9taZBII

REISSUE: “Love Power" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Roberta Kelly

REISSUE: “Love Power" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Roberta Kelly Roberta Kelly was produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellote - the producers had a success with Donna Summer and were working with Kelly to create a similar image in disco music. The 1976 LP "Trouble Maker" was a success for Kelly in discotheques thanks to hip and upbeat number on the LP. "Love Power" is a track that was Moroder's sound with a funky appeal - his bass sequencers and keyboards adorn this track over and above. I am celebrating the inauguration of our new President Barack Obama with this message in "Love Power" with hope for a new world where anyone, no matter what or who they are can hold their head up high in anywhere and give and take "love". We have many more obstacles to overcome, but it is possible. This ReStructure is for all of you.

REISSUE: “(I Do Believe) I Fell In Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Donna Summer

REISSUE: “(I Do Believe) I Fell In Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Donna Summer Donna Summer made the seventies a place for dreamers and lovers. Those who became with Donna had a secret affair with her amazing vocal range and versatility. From her first project in 1975 there was a soft and sensual edge to her voice although at times even early in her recording career you always knew there was a force building. “(I Do Believe) I Fell In Love” from Donna’s 1983 “She Works Hard For The Money” is one of the tracks that deliver her full essence. The song is more of a ballad which becomes a beat driven stage for Donna’s sensual, lyrical and wonderful vocal range. Produced by Michael Omartian. I have taken the album version of ““(I Do Believe) I Fell In Love” and worked a dreamy dub-like ReStructure Mix that flows with phasing and echoes. This fantasy is more of Donna’s lure as her voice is transformed throughout the song in many ways.

REISSUE: “Love Masterpiece” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jessica Williams

REISSUE: “Love Masterpiece” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jessica Williams Jessica Williams is one of the true divas of disco music. Her vocals gave many nights of dancing and celebration an experience that would soon become a high energy form of dance music. “Love Masterpiece” is a cover of the 1978 Thelma Houston disco track which was featured on the soundtrack of “Thank God It’s Friday”. Jessica along with The Simon Orchestra (Simon Soussan) give the track a new life and also a unique feel which only a powerful voice as Jessica’s could accommodate. She creates a whole new prescience for the song as she towers above the disco orchestral sound of this production. It is one of the moments in disco music where one can be truly grateful. I have taken the album version of “Love Masterpiece” from Jessica’s “Queen Of Fools” project and worked it into a new ReStructure Mix. A new intro with a back beat driven rhythm gives us another passage into Jessica’s outstanding performance. This one proves that a voice like this can bring disco music to its knees.

REISSUE: "Everybody Get Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ren Woods

REISSUE: "Everybody Get Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ren Woods Ren Woods appeared on television at the age of 10 singing - and then later formed a pre-teen vocal group titled Soul Five. She then starred in the National Tour of "The Wiz". Her career had begun early. She also was in the film "Car Wash". In 1979 Maurice White (Earth, Wind and Fire) produced her first solo LP titled, "Out Of The Woods" - although Ren did not get a break from this or second LP the single "Everybody Get Up" was a pick-hit for may disc jockeys and disco collectors of the time. The track had the soulful flavor and flow of a then-current disco track. I have taken "Everybody Get Up" and ReStructured the track with a new intro layered with break elements and also broke the song into a new arrangement. It was a song I would play out early in the evening with success in starting the dance for my evening.

REISSUE: “Showdown” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Carol Lloyd Carol Lloyd is singer who recorded her first album titled “Score” with the studio screw who also gave us the disco project Ultimate (“Touch Me Baby”, “Ritmo de Brazil”). The crew recreated the sound of Euro-disco with a touch of the Philly edge with Bruce Weeden producing along with Juliano Salerni. Carol’s album has the feel of that Philly production with the mature sound of disco that it reached in 1979. Each song here is a great one thanks to Carol’s tough vocals which bring on a new feel for the sweet disco arrangements. Backing this session is the trios who were Boris Midney’s ensemble on the first U.S.A. European Connection project (Leza Holmes, Renee Johnson and Sharon Williams) and earlier were Gentle Persuasion. “Showdown” is one of the energetic tracks from this session which play out like an Ann Margret number with the tough and sassy motivation and campy direction. I have taken the album version of “Showdown” and recreated a new ReStructure Mix to display once again that classic disco is always alive with a full orchestra arrangement and the soulful Philly giving it rhythm. A full re-working of the track using all of the elements which make this one a fun listening experience. Dedicated to Nick Bunning and Lindsay Smith – the boys who give me so much inspiration to keep this music alive. And I can understand why they requested this one since it has one of the great voices that make disco music what it is.

ReStructure Mix Update (1/23/21) “Born To Be Alive” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Disco Connection

Disco Connection is Eddie De Gucht – producer of electronic covers of disco classics. His work from the early 80’s was exciting to disco audiophiles like myself who found a new version of a disco standard refreshing. At the end of the disco era much of the hardcore dance music was produced and released in the UK, Germany and Italy. Many of the contenders were new fusions of dance music which centered on the fact the world had not finished dancing yet. Disco Connection takes the 1979 Patrick Hernandez disco classic into the reprise mode with a full on electronic stripped down arrangement. The melody plays the identifier and only the rolling sequencers formulating the energy. Another release by this studio project emerged including a cover of George McCrae’s “Rock Your Baby”. The classic disco sound was being electrified and kept alive for those who could not get enough.

I have taken the 12” versions of Disco Connection’s “Born To Be Alive” and used the segments that make up the original tribute and some of the new interludes for this ReStructure Mix. This plays out more like an addition to the original with a few chorus pieces and new added percussion and beats.

REISSUE: “Welcome Aboard” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mother F

REISSUE: “Welcome Aboard” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Mother F Mother F is Denis LePage from Lime and many dance projects including Diva, Kat Mandu, Voggue, Carol Jiani, Chris Mills and Blush. His work as an arranger and producer are the pinnacle pieces of the dance movement throughout the late 70’s through the late 90’s. Mother F is his project which initially compiled instrumental versions of his big dance floor hits of the early 80’s. “Welcome Aboard” is a single from this project and is a wonderful cover of The Love Unlimited Orchestra and Webster Lewis’ 1981 masterpiece. The electronic take and execution are wonderfully created here and give the track more of an underground feel. It is one of the great directions which inform us of where LePage’s inspirations are generated – and this is a wonderful place. I have taken the 12” version of “Welcome Aboard” from Mother F and recreated a new ReStructure Mix for prosperity of the movement itself and Mr. Lepage. The expression here is to spotlight the rhythmic pieces of the song and give it more of a fantasy club feel.

REISSUE: "Fantasy" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lian Ross

REISSUE: "Fantasy" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Lian Ross Lian Ross is a German hi-NRG and Euro-disco singer who began recording in 1985 with her first single, “Say You’ll Never”. Her career took her to a current release in 2012. Lian’s repertoire include a cover of Sylvester’s “Do You Wanna Funk” from 1987 and also her 1985 single “Fantasy” - which is one of my favorites. The song is a mystical theme about a lover from somewhere in the galaxy who visit’s a love struck woman in her fantasy - pure disco material. I have taken the 12” remix version from 1985 on Power Records out of Canada and created a ReStructure Mix which extends the elements that flow like a disco symphony along with Lian’s sensual vocal along with the Ambrosian accompaniments. I have added a familiar percussion riff to give the song another identifiable dance floor placement. This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to George Matiowsky from Face book - and thanks for recommending this magical track for a reedit and ReStructure Mix - and a special thanks to George for being so wonderful to share memories and the wonder of music!

REISSUE: “Fantasy” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Hotline

REISSUE: “Fantasy” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Hotline Hotline is a project from Bobby Orlando who took the underground feel of disco music back to the basics of rhythm with his heavy percussion and beats emulated in a street fashion. A new sound which would soon become the high energy music of the 80s. “Fantasy” from 1982 is a spoof of Orlando’s own production “Passion” from his studio group The Flirts from the same year. The instrumental plays out identically with a few changes in EQ and lyrics. This one is for the dancers who discovered the underground feel of Orlando’s early sound irresistible. I have taken the Italian Import 12” version of “Fantasy” and created a new ReStructure Mix with a new chopping job to reconstruct this version into a mystical experience. A sample from Clint Eastwood’s “Play Misty For Me” helps to give it that erotic sound.

REISSUE: “In The Night” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Daydream

REISSUE: “In The Night” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Daydream Daydream is an Italo-disco project from Spain on Blanco Y Negro Records from 1986 and features members Irene César, Mónica Cesar and Pedro Morales. A delivery in the classic Italo-disco sound with a light touch of energy. “In The Night” is a serenade with a sweetness that captures the disco aura with a nice resonance and rolling power. It is one during the mid-80’s which drew my heart back into the early days of Italo-disco where the fantasy is captured nicely and takes the dance floor into an almost dreamy stage. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “In The Night” and have worked a ReStructure Mix which extends those powerful and deep keyboard bass riffs and the light hearted edge of keyboards. It is truly one of those 80’s dance numbers that takes the mind into a new realm.

REISSUE: "Music Inspired by 'Star Wars'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Meco

REISSUE: "Music Inspired by 'Star Wars'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Meco Meco Monardo is a disco producer and arranger whose music is the disco symphonic sound of the dance floor during the late 70s. His funky beat-driven revivals work with several motion picture soundtracks both classic as he created with his “Wizard Of Oz” project and then leaning towards the pop-edge taking soundtracks from “Star Wars”, “Close Encounters of The Third Kind” and “Superman” to a rhythmic sensation. His 1977project “Music Inspired by Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk” is included in the disco Top 100 since it dominated radio and helped to introduce disco music’s new path to an AM audience. I have taken the “Star Wars Medley” from this album and created a ReStructure Mix which uses the fantastic theme from John Williams and gives it a new bass driven arrangement to use snippets of the work into a new collage of disco sound. Done in the ReStructure edit style where anything can happen and usually does. It is a return to the pop-sound of disco and a glimpse of impact of both the film and John Williams’s fantastic musical soundtrack.

ReStructure Mix Update (1/22/21) “Midnight Lover” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – People Like Us

People Like Us is Paul Crossley, Terry Owen and vocalist Cindy Dickinson – and together they gave the end of the 80s several high energy tracks. These discs were fittingly an appropriate closing for the end of the high energy era of the 80s. The production and outline of People Like Us were the intense homework done from dance floors during the 80’s from groups like Lime, Charade, Miquel Brown and Hazell Dean. The energy derived from the use of percussion, rolling sequencers and strong lead vocal were all set for the genre and this crew used each part to the dance floors advantage. “Midnight Lovers” is a nighttime fantasy with a desperate cry for the day to pass and a reunion of two lovers in the night becomes a reality. A high energy number for the tail end of the 80’s in the Passion Records tradition.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Midnight Lover” and created a new Restructure Mix with more of the percussion riffs worked and some new segues into the excitement. The vocal by Cindy Dickinson has always been the desperation and feel of the song and is maintained.
