REISSUE: "Stars" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sylvester In my ears this is the most powerful disco gem of all time – Sylvester’s “Stars”. It outlines the club scene of the disco era in one song. “Everybody is a star…” Written by Patrick Cowley and produced by Harvey Fuqua and Sylvester this one could not loose! A powerful thought brought this one to mind for a ReStructure and also a request from a close-friend, Michael – here in San Diego. I would never dream of touching this classic mix and sound – but when I started I began flowing with the song and hopefully brought it to life for you again. Backing vocals were provided by Hodges, James and Smith and build under the pulsating synthesizers and bold horn and string arrangements with great demeanor. This track will live on and on in my memory as one of the best moments standing in the Trocadero Transfer in 1979 and hearing it for the first time on one of the most dynamite sound systems over a dance floor – to you Sylvester!
