Black Box is Daniele Davoli, Mirko Limoni, Valerio Semplici and Martha Wash on lead vocals for the first project titled “Dreamland”. The big Italo-house sound was being released and embraced on dance floors everywhere at the time. “Strike It Up” is a release from the project which shared a huge success in clubs and discotheques. The hard hitting horns and along with the pumping house bass this piece was unstoppable. Martha gives us the outward and proud diva sound which became a big influence following her lead. This one is a classic and holds even today the non-stop energy that it contained when released.
I have taken the 12” versions of “Strike It Up” and reconducted a new ReStructure Mix to pay homage to the Italo-disco sound. The rap segments have been given time out here and more of Martha is spotlighted along with a few new breaks.
