"Heaven To Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Technique

"Heaven To Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Technique

Technique released their first LP title "Michael Angelo" in 1983 on ERC Records in England - their first single "Can We Try Again" was an instant disco hit - it lead the way for high energy in the mid-80s. Produced by Daniel Boone (The Warlord, The Intergalactic Orchestra) and Muff Murfin (also wrote "Looking for Someone To Love Tonight" and Norma Lewis' "Life Is The Reason").

Their sound on the first project was much like an ABBA-esque feel. Their second release is a single titled, "Heaven To Me" - from this end the sound became a full fledged high energy orchestra much-like the Norma Lewis, Marsha Raven and UK disco hits of the time. Yet this single was a bit more anthem held in clubs like The Saint. It was produced by the wonderful Marvin Howell.

This ReStructure gives the song my treatment with many more breakdowns and emphasis on the quality of a dub mix.

Dedicated to Mr. Marvin Howell.

"Sweet Conversation" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Charity

"Sweet Conversation" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Charity

Charity is a project from Fonny De Wulf (Rofo) featuring a lovely vocal by Karie Hillery. This high energy track from 1985 is a standard for the time period of heavy percussion and simple, yet intricate keyboards.

A very "sweet" love song which featured a version in Spanish on the B-side (sung by Carlos Perez) - I have ReStructured the track using the B-side as a dreamy residue to the original. This remix features allot of new pieces added and placed among the song for a fresh feeling.

"I Believe In Dreams" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Jackie Rawe

"I Believe In Dreams" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Jackie Rawe

Jackie Rawe's "I Believe In Dreams" is the high energy answer to "The Morning After" - disco style. A beautiful anthem that peaks over and over with every chorus. Released in 1985 on Fanfare Records out of the UK and produced by Marvin Howell-Kashi and Tony Atkins.

This song rings out the excitement of love and the energy of the dance floor. It was one track during its release that had me excited and running to the dance floor each time it played in a club - and on the other end was my favorite to play with two vinyl pieces: both peak and after-hours.

My ReStructure Mix takes a whole new intro and a different spin on the arrangement with a few drop outs and new breaks. High energy with a new twist.

Dedicated with respect to Mr. Marvin Howell and thanks for his friendship and dedication to the dance arena.

"Manhattan Shuffle" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - (212)

"Extensions from Area Code 212" is an LP from Freida Ann Williams, Sherroil. Jennings and Steve Shelto - a disco project that centered on the disco sound of New York in the late 70's. "Manhattan Shuffle" was a single from the project that became a favorite in clubs and among collectors due its big band sound and doo-wop style vocal.

I have taken this track - which was one of my favorites during the time and enhanced a few of its strong points - one being that fantastic sequencer from the intro - taking the drum rolls and adding them as riffs. It is allot more spread out than the LP version- and a bit longer.

“For Your Love” by Chilly – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“For Your Love” by Chilly – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Chilly is a German band with a big disco hit from 1978 – “For Your Love” – a dance cover of The Yardbirds rock hit from 1966. I always felt the disco version gave the song the drama that it needed. Produced by Bernt Mohrle (Cherry Laine) and given a disco orchestra that lasts forever.

I have taken the mood for the song and have given it a darker edge on “love” and “obsession” – using scenes from the 1983 film, “Star 80” – starring Mariel Hemingway and Eric Roberts – based on the life and finale tragedy of Playboy centerfold actress Dorothy Stratten. This play focuses on the obsessed and eventual breaking of Eric Roberts’s character without going into gory detail.
Chilly’s “For You Love” is one of my top 20 disco track favorites – after thinking about the haunting keyboards in the song – I decided to use it in this eerie Disco Video Mix.

The film was directed by Bob Fosse

"There's A Way Into My Heart" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - USA European Connection

"There's A Way Into My Heart" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - USA European Connection

Boris Midney created disco music with a heart and artistic mind - beginning with his brain child USA European Connection in 1978 ("Come Into My Heart/Good Loving"). It was the blend of the US Philly sound and Euro-disco - and also allot of innovative rhythm and electronic fusion. It was a dream come true for dance floors.

"There's A Way Into My Heart" is from the follow up LP for USA European Connection - there is a definite move from his first project into a more current disco feel in 1979. The sweet strings and horn section remain - yet the vocals take on a more consistent role. I always felt it was a Broadway sound.

My ReStructure Mix for Boris Mideny's "There's A Way Into My Heart" was a choice to stay close to the original yet shuffle some of the sounds and pieces into a whole new movement. The killer-ass break with the thumping bass is still intact and more of the sweetness is continued.

Dedicated to the man, Mr. Boris Midney and the "midnight" dancers who help to embellish this beautiful sound.

"Capitol Tropical" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Two Man Sound

Two Man Sound is a Belgium Latin disco band - Lou Deprijck, Sylvain Vanholme and Yves Lacomblez

Their 1982 disco hit, "Capitol Tropical" was a high energy tour though a Latin Salsa. It is one of the most memorable underground club hits of the time. Re-released in the US on TSR Records - it became a huge hit in clubs.

All of the right ingredients are here for this dance piece - percussion, Spanish guitars, and catchy lyrics and vocals.

I have taken this track and broke it into pieces and added some new drums pounding out, percussion loops and a few surprises. This one was always a floor packer for me - so it is my tribute to it's wonderful energy!

"Number One" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Musique

Musique is Christine Wiltshire, Denise Edwards, Gina Taylor, Jocelyn Brown, Mary Seymour and Rainy Davis and is the brainchild of disco genius Patrick Adams. The first release was 1978 and titled "Keep On Jumpin'" - the LP was an instant hit and formulated a new sound for dance floors.

I have ReStructured a track from their second album titled "Number One" - the song uses the lush string arrangement that Adams was known for on their previous project. It is like glitter sprinkled over the dance floor.

This mix is dedicated to Mr. Patrick Adams - again, a thanks for his wondrous talent.

"The Groove Line" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Heatwave

Heatwave is Billy Jones, Calvin Duke, Derek Bramble, Eric Johns, Ernest Berger, J.D. Nicholas, Johnnie Wilder Jr., Keith Harrison, Keith Wilder, Mario Mantese, Rod Temperton, Roy Carter and William Jones

With hits like "Boogie Nights" and "The Groove Line" it is no wonder they were the forerunners in disco music from 1976. Their music emphasized a growth in pop culture.

From their 1977 LP "Central Heating" I have taken "The Groove Line" and worked with the extended 12" version to create a whole new ReStructure Mix - much more action and energy going on here with looping and new intro and fade out.

Dedicated to my wonderful partner, Ken

"Flashlight On A Disco Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Rofo

Rofo is Fonny de Wulf and Ronny Verrept on "Flashlight On A Disco Night" - released in 1983 during the electronic resurgence of disco music. It quickly became the high energy label for the mid and late 80s.

"Flashlight On A Disco Night" is a club classic and outlines the feel of Rofo's sound and delivery. It has been one of those unforgettable synthesizer experiences that follows closely with Giorgio Moroder's innovation and Patrick Cowley legacy.

I have ReStructured "Flashlight On A Disco Night" with the attempt of pumping the already fast paced movement of the original 12" single. Adding a few of my own ideas and enhancements.

Dedicated to Cal Sakaniwa and Rick Shezoray (www.backtodisco.com) - "move your body!"

"Too Tough" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Angela Bofill

Angela Bofill released her first LP in 1978 - making a mark in jazz music with producer composer Dave Grusin. Her third LP "Too Tough" had one of 1983s funkiest electronic dance tracks of the time. It was moving Angela's vocals into a whole new arena. Clubs immediately grew found of the kicking back beats and memorable rap.

I have taken the 12" vocal onto the ReStructure block by request of "chikostar" from YouTube and created a whole new message - adding new beats, claps and rap. It has always been a favorite of mine and now has an alternative mix.

“Chance To Dance” by Lemon – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Chance To Dance” by Lemon – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Lemon is producer Kenny Lehman and a studio project assembled in 1978. Lehman worked with Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards on their first LP “Chic” featuring the disco classic, “Dance, Dance, Dance” – if you listen closely to the Lemon project you can hear a touch of the first Chic album you can hear his influence.

“Chance To Dance” is from the Lemon album and was the second song to receive disco radio play during its release. Vocals on the project feature David Lasley, Diva Gray, Lani Groves and the late, Luther Vandross.

I have taken the 1984 film, “Body Rock” starring Lorenzo Lamas in another New York street dance themed story of a break-dancer looking for a “break”. It is a silly film but does have the moves of the time. The dance etiquette works well with Lemon’s “Chance To Dance”.

"Dancing In The Sheets" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Shalamar

Shalamar worked a single from the soundtrack of the 1984 film, "Footloose" titled "Dancing In The Sheets" - a nice play on words and rhythm The track was produced by Bill Wolfer and the 12" single remixed by John 'Jellybean' Benitez.

"Low Down Dirty Rhythm" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sarah Dash

"Low Down Dirty Rhythm" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sarah Dash

Sarah Dash is a soulful vocalist and also the third "lady bird" in Patti LaBelle's trio LaBelle ("Lady Marmalade") in the early and mid 70s. Moving onto a solo career in 1978 Sarah recorded her disco classic, "Sinner Man". The LP fared quite well and brought a follow up project titled, "Oo-La-La".

In 1983 Sarah began working with San Francisco based high energy label Megatone Records and synthesizer genius Patrick Cowley - her second single was "Low Down Dirty Rhythm" a sleaze number featuring the magic of Patrick Cowley's growing sound. This was a perfect example of how soulful disco synthesizers could bring out the right vocal - and with Sarah it was a winner.

I have ReStructured "Low Down Dirty Rhythm" with a new intro and some looping to keep the sleaze here "sleazy". A great number to work with and also a hard piece to choose from Sarah's funky and soulful vocals.

"The Night They Invented Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Noel

"The Night They Invented Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Noel

Noel is an 80s dance project created by Ron Mael and Russell Mael who are also Sparks. Their work with disco pioneer Giorgio Moroder ("Beat The Clock") had obviously influenced their synthesizer and sequencer curiosity in the late 70s disco movement.

"The Night They Invented Love" is from the LP "Is There More To Life Than Dancing?" which was released in 1979 - this project offered a light twist on a new-wave vocal with the pumping edge of electro-disco. It is a celebrated sound among disco audiophiles - and Noel is somewhat of an underground hit.

I have taken "The Night They Invented Love" as one of my favorite tracks of the time and placed parts of the song into a re-edit and surface face lift to give it a whole new aural journey. The song still sounds mystifying and gave me a whole new purpose for the sake of keeping it alive.

"Disco Lady" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Johnnie Taylor

Johnnie Harrison Taylor began his recording career in 1967 and became a integral part of soul music's growth in the pop culture. His 1976 LP "Eargasm" was a part of the soul movement and upcoming label of a new style of music called disco.

"Disco Lady" became an instant classic with it's slick laid back feel and Taylor's soulful vocal approach. It made the transition easy for soul followers to look to disco music for an alternate dance remedy and style.

I have ReStructured this classic taking pieces of the extended 12" single and giving it a few new parts and beats, as well as a new bass riff to give the song a hypnotic feel. It has been a part of my teen years and now I am able to bring a flavor to it that I feel of where my feet feel it.

Dedicated to the man, Johnnie Taylor - in his memory and soulful energy (1937 - 2000)

“High On Mad Mountain” by The Mike Theodore Orchestra - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“High On Mad Mountain” by The Mike Theodore Orchestra - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The Mike Theodore Orchestra is know for their 1977 disco piece “The Bull” - it was their second project “High On Mad Mountain” that hit the disco target in the center mark - fusing their soulful rhythms and disco orchestration. Produced by Mike Theodore known for his productions and creation C.J. and Company (“Devil’s Gun”), Dennis Coffey (“Scorpio”), and Detroit Emeralds (“Feel The Need”).

“High On Mad Mountain” is a majestic disco production with a full ensemble of horn, bassoon’s, French horns and funky guitars - it really is an adventure all on its own.

I have taken the 1937 film “Lost Horizon” starring Ronald Colman, Jane Wyatt and John Howard and placed the magnificent story of the Himalayan Mountain valley land of Shangri-La into a Disco Video Mix. The story fits quite well with the danger, lure and excitement of this mystical place.

"Keeep Your Body Workin'"- Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Kleeer

Kleeer was originally called The Universal Robot Band - singing with Atlantic Records in 1979 they used the name Kleeer - members were Norman Durham, Paul Crutchfiled, Richard Lee and Woody Cunningham. Their bog hit in 1979 from their LP "I Love To Dance" was "Keeep Your Body Workin'" - a funky bass driven track that had a nice disco polished edge with funk infused.

I have taken the original 12" track and ReStructured it scraping the bass out and creating a whole new intro and breaks using it. A great song and has a wonderful infectious groove.

"Got Tu Go Disco" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pattie Brooks

"Got Tu Go Disco" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pattie Brooks

Pattie Brooks holds one of the #1 disco songs of all time: "After Dark" from 1978 - and featured in the film "Thank God It's Friday". Pattie has a history of making songs work as a backup singer - but as a solo she brought class and mystique (those fans) to the stage and excitement to discotheques.

Her 1979 single "Got Tu Go Disco" was produced by the late Jurgen Koppers of the Munich legacy of disco musicians. The track was written by John Davis - it was sad that the disco era had reached it's peak and pop music was moving onto a new realm. This track by Pattie encompasses all the energy of disco music in it's own form. It is bright and bubbly.

I have ReStructured the song as it broke into my mind one morning as one of the happier disco tracks of the period.

Dedicated to Ms. Pattie Brooks and special thanks for her wonderful talent.

"Let's Get Started" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Voyage

"Let's Get Started" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Voyage

"One Step Higher" was the finale project for disco band Voyage in 1982 - their standing on both dance floors and with music connoisseurs was a lasting five year with the excitement of each project. Classics like "Souvenirs", "From East To West" and "I Love You Dancer" are few tracks that are now stamped in disco history.

"Let's Get Started" reverts to the bands lyrical and uplifting chorus feel - it is a great direction and close for the bands creative and musical talents.

I have taken "Let's Get Started" into a ReStructure Mix to extended and add a few pieces to weave a new sound for this anthem. It was requested by Rick and Dean from Australia - two wonderful gentlemen and I dedicate it to both lovingly.

“Small Town Lover” by Cheri – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Small Town Lover” by Cheri – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Cheri is Rosalind Hunt (Geraldine Hunt’s daughter – Freddie James’ sister) and Amy Roslyn – a dance duo from Montreal. Their 1982 hit “Murphy’s Law” rolled out the welcome mat on dance floors for future promise.
Their second album titled “Low Stew” from 1983 contained a single title, “Small Town Lover” – a funk-disco track with a mellow and hypnotic groove. It did quite well on disco radio shows and is now an underground old-school favorite.

I was requested to use the film 1988 “Big Business” for a video mix and paired the song up for a “small town” reprise. The film stars Bette Midler and Lily Thrombin as double-twins who are mixed up at birth in a small town and later reunited in the “big city” for chaos and fun. It is an extremely hilarious film and I have taken parts and pieces to reshape the film for this Disco Video Mix.

The film was directed by Jim Abrahams

"Hands Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ottawan

"Hands Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ottawan

Ottawan is a disco duo from France produced by Daniel Vangarde - who also brought dance floors Gibson Brothers, Starbow, and Who's Who. One of the most popular singles is "D.I.S.C.O." from 1980. Following the success of this single a second LP was released in 1981 called "Ottawan 2" - from this album came "Hands Up" a party anthem.

I have ReStructured "Hands Up" and added some new elements to lead to the excitement of the chorus and enhanced a few areas I felt needed more "umph"! It is a favorite of mine and always did well during peak hours on a crowded dance floor in creating a happy celebration - the way life should be!

Dedicated to all of those who have helped me to create by supporting the sound of these remixes. Thank you.

"Strawberry Johnson 23" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Brothers Johnson

"Strawberry Johnson 23" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Brothers Johnson

The Brothers Johnson are George Johnson and Louis Johnson - their second LP from 1977 titled "Right On Time" was produced by musical genius, Quincy Jones. It contained a funk-disco classic, "Strawberry Letter 23" . The track did quite well on soul charts as well as fusing the funk sound with disco music.

I have ReStructured the track and added a deep bass feel to the track and intended to keep the glorious feeling of fantasy and love intact. It is a breezy mix that is pieced in a new arrangement and works to hold the original message upfront.

Dedicated to my partner, Ken - thank you for allowing me the love and freedom to create.

“What Makes A Man’ by Marseilles - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“What Makes A Man’ by Marseilles - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Marseilles released a dance cover version of the great Charles Aznavour song “Comme Ils Disent" (“What Makes A Man”) - produced and arranged by Steve Jolley & Steve Warwick. This version was released in 1990 and did quite well in the underground gay club circuit.

I have taken the 1994 film, “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert” starring Terrance Stamp, Hugo Weaving and
Guy Pearce and placed images and scenes of the comedy-drama along side of this Disco Video Mix to create a whole need message.

The film was directed by Stephan Elliott

"Blood and Honey" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Amanda Lear

"Blood and Honey" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Amanda Lear

Amanda Lear is a performer who end has yet to be met. She hit the disco scene in 1977 with her LP "I Am A Photograph" - produced by Anthony Monn (Magnifique, Judy Cheeks). Harold Faltermeyer is featured on keyboards.

The single "Blood and Honey" from the project was a big hit in discotheques thanks to the mystique which Amanda brought to imagination and stage presence, It was not long after where she became a lasting image in the disco arena.

I have ReStructured "Blood and Honey" and kept the bongo tracks as the vocal point for a groovy new arrangement and flow. More of a dub with Amanda's lasting verses haunting us to go lower in the night!

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Loulou from The Netherlands - Happy New Year my friend.
