REISSUE: “Discoland” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Quartz

REISSUE:  “Discoland” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Quartz

Quartz is Didier Plus, Laurent Taieb and Patrick Langlade – a trio whose two projects from the late 70’s brought an alternative electronic new-age feel to the disco beat. Their big disco classic “Beyond The Clouds” from 1978 is one of the innovative sounds that echo this disco machine. “Discoland” is from their 1979 follow up album “Camel In The City” which plays out the familiar sound of keyboards accenting a sequencer of rolling bass and trickling arpeggios. One of the familiar sounds created also from the band Space from the same period – these projects are the early techno sounds of dance music.

I have taken the album version of “Discoland” and created a frantic ReStructure Mix with added percussion and a verge of extended breaks and effects. The trip here is more of an ear experience however a dance floor with love for the edge of electronics may find it hard to remain still.
