Seventies Fashion is a 1993 Italian production and cover of the Gino Soccio disco classic, “Dancer” from 1979. This various mix compilation of house, techno and tribal pieces takes elements of the original vocal and pieces it with new drum and keyboard production in a fantastic way. This mix by Sasha is one of the most exciting of the disco covers as it makes use of the early techno influence and creation by Soccio and shapes it into a whole new vehicle without much of notice. It was a great way of homage to Gino Soccio’s genius as well as his contributions to dance music.
I have taken the various versions from the 12” of “Dancer ‘93” by Seventies Fashion and made use of the working rhythms for this ReStructure Mix. I have set aside those drums which pound out a whole new feeling in this version as well as adding more of the original vocal for a touch of the magic.
