ReStructure Mix Update (4/4/25):”Falling In Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Surface

Surface is a disco/funk group from David (Pic) Conley and Toni Byrd - their single from 1983 became a huge dance floor hit and gave them a start to formulate a band which recorded throughout the end of the 90’s. “Falling In Love” is their first single from 1983 and is a hypnotic funk number which brings to mind a sweetness that is love in its early stages. The piece features a female vocalist expressing her love and devotion to a relationship which has transpired and exudes energy and promise. Released on the disco label, Salsoul Records it was one of the many crossover disco bands of the time.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Falling In Love” and recreated a new take for this ReStructure Mix. The hypnotic feel is now expressed in the intro and a new break.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/3/25):”Come On and Dance With Me” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix –Suzy Q

Suzy Q is a disco artist created by Jerry Cucuzella and features a number of vocalists on lead - on the 1989 single “Come On and Dance With Me” we have Angie Vileno taking over. This electronic dance track is a mid-tempo hypnotic house track that plays out like a sexy lure into the groove. It features muh of the space-tastic effects that these productions used to blend the energy into beats. A nice riff here makes the song stand out and gives us another opportunity to hear this studio group play out an infectious track.

I have taken the “club” and “house” mixes of “Come On and Dance With Me” and reworked both into a new ReStructure Mix. I have used the sequencers to weave a new intro and breaks throughout this new arrangement. More of the pieces that are center stage are put right where they belong.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/2/25):”Destiny” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Vivian Vee

Vivian Vee is a disco singer from Italy who became the “darling of European disco” following her late 70’s releases and onto her dance floor career of the 80’s. “Destiny” is from her 1983 project titled “With Vivien Vee” - produced by Giancarlo Meo. This was a slight shift from her high energy disco style to a more funk infused electronic sound. With the success of bands like Change, High Fashion and B.B. and Q Band the lure of a distinctive groove was chosen for this project. Vivian is still in her arena where her vocals display a sexy edge and flow along with the outline here. “Destiny” is a love song where she exclaims a lifelong love is her desire.

I have taken the album version of “Destiny” and re-edited the piece for this ReStructure Mix. It is a parts and pieces edit that works more on the essence of a dub-like arrangement and gives another side of Meo’s fantastic craft.
