"Great Expectations" by First Choice - Disco Video Mix by Glenn RiveraFirst Choice are the soul divas of disco music. Their catalogue of music is overwhelming when you place their talents are the realm of disco music and it's history.
Their 1979 LP "Hold Your Horses" is one of the pinnacle moments in dance music. From this project came "Great Expectations" - a track about the lure of a love relationship and the promise of lasting celebration. It was this production, which also gave disco a full arrangement of strings, horns and rhythm to call a disco staple.
My love for both cinema and disco music are combined to it's fullest as I have taken the Charles Dickens's classic novel turned film in 1946 "Great Expectations" - the film stars John Mills, Anthony Wager, Jean Simmons, Valerie Hobson and Alec Guinness - it was directed by David Lean and produced by Ronald Neame (of "The Poseidon Adventure").
Although the tale is focused on social classes and romance it fits well with the drama of the strings and outline of First Choice's disco classic.
