Doctor's Cat is Aldo Martinelli, Fabrizio Gatto and Simona Zanini - an Italian studio concept band with the sound of early 80s Italo-disco fever. It was 1983 when the music began to emerge as a solid formula which consisted of a full electronic sound with heavily paved percussion.
Much of Italo-disco did not make much sense in a relative fashion - it was more about the energy and experimentation - much like the funk of the early and mid-70s took a play on themes and words.
I have taken "Feel The Drive" from Doctor's Cat and played with it to create an alternate ReStructure Mix using the heavy synthesizers and percussion as a start for a new mix. Adding some new effects and beats to enhance this favorite of mine.

"Hideaway" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Maxine Nightingale
Maxine Nightingale hit the boogie scene in 1976 with her big hit "Right Back Where We Started From" - her recordings gave her the standing of a pop-vocalist. It was in 1979 when her title LP track "Lead Me On" made Top 100 charts.
"Hideaway" is also from this LP and is one of the fast-moving disco tracks that make the disco scene exciting and pop oriented for the time. I have take the track - which I have always played the LP version - but have given it an alternative ReStructure Mix - adding a new fading-in intro and easy to follow exit.

"Action Is Tight" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Champagne Explosion
Champagne Explosion is a studio concept group featuring the talents of Denis LePage (Lime), Peter Di Milo (Plastic Surprise, Erotic Drum Band) and George Cucuzzella (Suzy Q, Nightlife Unlimited) - in the Canadian disco style with heavy percussion and roaring trumpets and horns.
"Action Is Tight" is from the 1978 LP which features the sound of disco music's merge to a "tighter" beat driven groove. It have always been one of my favorite pure touch disco instrumental tracks.
I have ReStructured the song and have given it a whole new face lift - with lightning edits and percussion drops to give this remix an energetic feel.

“The Beast In Me” by Bonnie Pointer – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Bonnie Pointer is one discos familiar voices and faces – her 1979 dance floor hit “Heaven Must Have Sent You” has been on Top 20 Disco Charts since its release and even today is a disco classic.
“The Beast In Me” is from her 1984 LP “If The Price Is Right” – it was also featured in a film the same year titled “Heavenly Bodies”.
I have taken the 1986 comedy/horror film “Vamp” starring Grace Jones, Chris Makepeace and Robert Rusler and placed the vampira pieces over the yearning and clawing feel of the song.
The film was directed by Richard Wenk

“(Carmen) Danger In Her Eyes” by Deborah Sasson & MCL – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Deborah Sasson along with MCL (Micro Chip League) producers Alexander Henninger and Ken Taylor recreate the tragedy of the 1845 novella Carmen and then 1875 opera. The 1989 techno track has the emphasis of a sledgehammer pounding out the drama until the last breath of our heroine’s saga.
I have taken the 1954 musical adaption by Otto Preminger, “Carmen Jones” which translates the film set during World War II and gives the vixen played by Dorothy Dandridge a take on the opera. The film also stars Harry Belafonte and Pearl Bailey.

"Action Man" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Spinach (Giorgio Moroder)
Giorgio Moroder is now know as the Godfather of Electronic Disco Music - as well as his productions with Donna Summer. Before his venture into the disco arena and market, Moroder worked with Michael Holm to create the project Spinach in 1971. The project featured the single, "Action Man" - a wonderful track is very similar to a rock/cha-cha number (ala "Oye Como Va" by Tito Puente).
I have taken the 7" single version from 3:58 to a lengthier version a little beyond 8 minutes giving a track a much longer flow and a few new breaks and added percussion parts.
Dedicated to Jussi K. - and a special thanks for keeping the obscure disco alive!

Bill Summers is a percussionist who began as a solo artist in 1977 with "Feel The Heat" - eventually this lead to his project Bill Summers Summers Heat. Their forth project "Jam The Box" featured the big club electro/funk track "We Call It The Box" - which is one of the New York street beat influences of 1981.
I have ReStructured the song taking beats and clanking into a new arrangement and adding a few more extended sections to give the song a new feel.

"Got To Give It Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Marvin Gaye
Marvin Gaye was a Motown artist whom surpassed the emphasis of soul and funk - his music touched deeper than a groove. Most refer to his voice as sweet and emotional experience - with material to match.
His 1977 LP "Live At The London Palladium" contained his single "Got To Give It Up" - a big old school dance classic which revolves around the start of the discotheque experience on a soul edge. It is a big time percussion driven experience with Marvin's vocals to frame the groove.
I have ReStructured the 12" version to break the track down into a few more breakdowns and added effects. This song is one of the masterful blends of soul and disco - and built to last.

"Don't Lose That Number (Mumbo Jumbo)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bionic Boogie
Gregg Diamond's Bionic Boogie was a sign of thing to come in 1977 - disco music had begun to take it form and shape with many of the soulful recordings - it was the glitter that the strings, bass and light celebratory themes added to create the real atmosphere.
The samba is "Mumbo Jumbo" in "Don't Lose That Number" and the production from Gregg Diamond's magic along with Brad Baker is now history. The vocals are provided by Gwen Guthrie, Zach Sanders and Yolanda McCollough - who at the time were session singers. The track is bright and has a feel of uplifting power when it reaches the ever building chorus. It is also the start of Gregg Diamond's ability to take parts of grooves and crescendos and work a track around them.
I have taken the LP version and have given it a fading into and then extended the verses and that fabulous Fender Rhodes piano, which sounds familiar to Diamond's magic with Andrea True Connection's "More More More".
This song has always been a favorite and this opportunity gives it an extended and alternate version.

“Don’t Stop The Music” by Fussy Cussy – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Fussy Cissy is Cussy Nicodemo – their first release in 1976 was a single titled “Disco Kings”. This began their dedication to creating dance music. It was a Canadian production in 1981 where Denis LePage stepped in to arrange a single titled “Don’t Stop The Music” – it was a heyday for LePage during his very successful band, Lime. The single had quite a resemblance to a Lime track and made the song even more irresistible to dance floors.
I have taken the 1984 Herbert Ross film “Footloose” starring Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer and John Lithgow and pulled the two together to create some excitement. The dance sequences in the film provide a great energy and great fun to the track.

Purple Flash is Pierre Perpall - who is also Pluton & Humanoids ("World Invaders") - his second single as Purple Flash is "We Can Make It". The track was released in 1984 and is a beautiful love song with a lasting essence. It was a choice track in many dance clubs during the mid-80s and has many discophiles continual praise.
I have taken the 12" single vocal version and have given the track a ReStructure Mix with more of the peculating percussion tracks looping in various segments and also breaking the lovely keyboards into a new arrangement.

“Cha Cha Cha” by Finzy Kontini – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Finzy Kontini are Claudia Columbi, Fabrizio Baldoni and Bruno Rosellini – a disco band from Italy who have recorded their first LP titled “Place To Place” in 1987 – and quickly to follow their follow up single and LP by the same name, “Cha Cha Cha”.
The track became a club favorite thanks to its catchy chorus and cleaver instrumentation. Their music is very uplifting and gives the 80s disco sound a great addition for dance floors.
I have taken the 1998 romance/dance flick “Dance With Me” starring Vanessa Williams and Chayanne and moved the Cuban beats into the “cha cha” arena. The film is the story of a young boy who travels to America to meet his father for the first time and meets an alluring dancer named Ruby, who is played by Vanessa.
The film is directed by Randa Haines

"Concert From The Stars" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Silvetti
Bebu Silvetti (Juan Fernando Silvetti Adorno) is a pianist, composer, arranger and producer who is best known for his big Salsoul disco hit "Spring Rain" - a track which captured the lyrical sound of symphonic disco with the Afro-Cuban percussion backing the beats.
His music spanned from the LP "World Without Words" in 1976 and continued throughout his final LP "I Love You" in 1980 - he passed in 2003.
"Concert From The Stars" is Silvetti's majestic dance symphony which is one of my favorites. It is has the beauty of a classical movement encompassed with a killer drum and bass line that bring to life a disco-like ballet. It has always done wonders for an after-hours dance floor and brought new life to an early morning crowd. Pure magic!
I have ReStructured the 12" single and given it a beat intro into the crashing symphony and ended it again with the magic sound of Silvetti's beautiful elegance.
This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Silvetti who is no doubt conducting from the "stars".

"Dynomite" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tony Camillo's Bazuka
Tony Camillo's Bazuka is funk band which took of in the mid-70s using the sound of the growing dance sound of soul to disco. It was a time where disco music attributed much of it's pop sound from soul and funk.
"Dynomite" is a hit from Tony Camillo from his 1975 LP titled "Bazuka" - the track did very well on pop/soul radio and also made many high school dances complete.
I have taken the song and chopped a few areas that are essential pieces and looped and redirected the mood with the rhythm track in mind. Adding a light percussion track to give a reminder that this is a remix!

Denroy Morgan is a Jamaican musician who had a big club hit with his single "I'll Do Anything For You" in 1981. He has since been called the "King of Spiritual Reggae" - his energy and devotion to love are felt strongly in this funky-reggae dance track.
I have ReStructured the original 12" version to give the song a new-longer intro and also a few added effects to make this song stick even more with its dedication to beats and love.
This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Bob T. for requesting this track over and over - I get it Bob, and it feels good!

"Your Song" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Laura Lee
Laura Lee is a soul singer who began recording in the mid 60s - best known for her track "Rip Off" on Chess Records. Laura recorded a disco single in 1979 on Fantasy Records titled "Satisfaction" produced by Don Davis and arranged by disco genius Patrick Adams (Phreek, Musique, Inner Life, Universal Robot Band).
The 12" single featured a flip-side titled "Your Song" which was a mellow and short (3:26) version of a sweet and soulful track - I had always loved the song and played it as a closing number for years during early morning sets - both dance floor and stand up clubs. It always worked well - but the 3 minute version was always too short. With no dub or instrumental - I ReStructured the track looping and adding a few drums beats and keyboards.
Thanks to Dean and Rick for reminding just how beautiful and lovely it is to feel the energy of this song.

"Show Me Yours" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Corruption
Corruption is a studio band produced by Barry Blum and John Hedges - a fast and intricate electronic track that is hypnotic and sensual. It centers around the emphasis of 'show and tell' with a bit more intention.
The song was released in 1981 on a double album compilation called "Prime Cuts 1 (The Double Album)" on Importe/12 Records and also on Disconet Program Service. It is one of the perfect sleaze records that works on both dance floors and stand up clubs.
I have ReStructured the track and given it a bit deeper push off of the edge adding a bit more of the heavenly sensual vocals and choruses. It has always been one favorite and now giving a new version.
Dedicated the master disco producer, John Hedges

“Wuthering Heights” by Ferrara – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
John Ferrara produced, arranged, composed and conducted his project “Wuthering Heights” released in 1979 – the concept was close to the disco operetta similar to Alec R. Costandinos’ projects covering “Romeo and Juliet” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”.
The side long disco opera is quite a dramatic cover of the Emily Bronte novel “Wuthering Heights” first published in 1847. My focus using pieces of the medley are on the romance and dedication of the main characters.
I have taken the disco interpretation and placed the 1939 film starring Merle Oberon and Laurence Oliver below the beats and string movements.
The film was directed by William Wyler

"Party On"- Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Pure Energy
Pure Energy is Curtis Hudson, Lisa Stevens, Raymond Hudson and Wade Hudson - their 1980 disco track "Party On" is one of the songs which helped disco music to stay alive during the time period. A definite kick-ass production in the disco band mode - complete with horns and strings.
I have taken the track - since it is one of my favorites for both vocal and production and given it a mild ReStructure Mix - and although the original 12" is flawless - a new mix is give here only preserve and keep the song alive.

"New York At Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Kelly Marie
Kelly Marie began her solo recording career in 1976 with "Who's That Lady With My Man" - her hit "Run To Me" came with her second LP "If I Can't Have You". Her career on the disco dance floor remained true throughout the 80s with her biggest hit, "Feels Like I'm In Love".
From the LP "Feels Like I'm In Love" comes the single "New York At Night" which made the flip side to her US single "Feels Like I'm In Love" - with a remix by Bobby DJ Guttadaro - and an added dialogue with Bobby and DJ Lance Wise. This moment on the record holds a special place: meeting Lance Wise in Los Angeles in 1984 and spinning along side him as well as dancing to his outstanding sets at The Probe. He was a very special man and his recollection of this recording was hysterical - it holds a special place in my memory,
This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to the memory of Mr. Lance Wise - a very special friend and music influence.

Sylvia (Sylvia Van der Pool Robinson) is a singer, musician, music producer and record label executive. Her solo career from 1973 began with her hit single “Pillow Talk” (which she wrote for Al Green – but he never recorded it) – the song was an instant soul classic with its risqué sound.
The song was #1 on the R&B charts for two weeks in 1973. It is now considered a disco classic.
I have taken the 1959 romantic comedy by the same name, “Pillow Talk” starring Doris Day and Rock Hudson and placed the two love birds below to frame this Disco Video Mix. Although the films center more along the comedic edge I have used the footage of love and romance to complete the sound.
The film was directed by Michael Gordon

"Give It On Up (If You Want To)" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Mtume
Mtume is Basil Fearington, Edward Moore, Howard King, Hubert Eaves III, James Mtume, Philip Field, Raymond Jackson, Reggie Lucas and Tawatha
James Mtume and Reggie Lucas have also produced disco hits by Stephanie Mills ("You Can Get Over", "Put Your Body In It") - their ensemble under the name Mtume centered on the funk and soul infused within the time period of each production - their LP "In Search Of The Rainbow Seekers" from 1980 gave us the single "Give It On Up (If You Want To)" which was a hit on many dance floors offering their lovely blend of funk and sophisticated disco.
I have taken the track into the ReStructure mode and have extended and re-edited it's components - adding a few new drums and effects. The song's message is simple: release the pressure and feel the power of lie - that alone is enough for me to believe.
