ReStructure Mix Update (8/22/20) “Electric Avenue” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Eddy Grant

ReStructure Mix Update (8/22/20) “Electric Avenue” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Eddy Grant

Eddy Grant is a musician and producer who began his recording career in 1975 fusing a blend of reggae, funk and soul. Into the 80’s he became an iconic figure with many of his songs outlining current world events and status of the struggles among people. “Electric Avenue” comes from his 1982 album “Killer On The Rampage” and plays out as a shout out to the Brixton area which of the time was the first to be lit by electricity yet remained violent, racist and many tensions. The song itself is a landmark among the 80’s dance period thanks to its electronic groove which plays out almost like a robotic groove taking on an edgy sound. It moved many feet and also brought many minds to think about awareness to find solutions to some of the problems in society and the world.

I have taken the 12” version of “Electric Avenue” and reworked a new ReStructure Mix for an experience that may take on a new current political time which is among us now. I have added some new elements to bring the groove alive in a new way – the way a solution for today’s issues needs be addressed in a new way – not as they are in the current day administration.
