Madleen Kane is the beauty behind many big disco hits. Her music has always surprised as her talent and dedication to become involved in creative process. “Playing For Time” is from Madleen’s 1981 project produced by disco-pioneer and innovator, Giorgio Moroder. The early 80’s were a challenging time for disco artists heading their music in a new direction. Madleen is one of the artists who seem to overcome this hurdle and much of her 80’s productions were successful in her iconic past and moved her following along with her. The Moroder production on the project “Don’t Wanna Lose You” gives Madleen the synth-pop edge which emanated success and proof that the 80’s had not shifted dance floors far from home.
I have taken the 12” remix of Madleen’s “Playing For Time” and have given the ReStructure Mix not only a tribute to her talent, but also a salute to Moroder and his 80’s appeal. A riff from Moroder’ s genius is thrown in for an echo of his music and Madleen is enough in her adaption to her own style in a new arena of music.
