ReStructure Mix Update (12/3/24):”Miss Chatelaine” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – k.d. Lang
k.d. Lang is a Canadian country/pop singer and songwriter who became one of the familiar voices of the late 80’s and early 90’s, The single “Miss Chatelaine” from 1992 is a sleek and Parisian feel number which gives k.d. many opportunities to accentuate her unique vocal style and execution. It is one of her most memorable and continues to create a flair for the dance floor even today. The track was produced by k.d., Ben Mink and Greg Penny and This one is a swirling song which brings to mind a comfort for the inner soul and more movement for the body and is one of my favorite early morning pieces of the time period.
I have taken the 12” versions of “Miss Chatelaine” and replayed this beauty for a new ReStructure Mix. using both of the kick beat version and standard 4/4 dance beat remixes to envelope a new edge. There are some flash edits to give the remix a few new breaks.
Alton McClain is one of the unforgettable artists of the late 70’s - along with Destiny they created hits like “99 ½” and “It Must Be Love”. Johnny Bristol became a part of The Motown Family and developed a powerful place for himself in the early 70’s with his big 1974 hit “Hang On In There Baby” which is revived here as a duet from Alton McClain and Destiny’s project “More Of You” - produced by Frank E. Wilson and John Footman. This spectacle of a “cover” is one of the jewels of soul and disco music in its blending of energy and emotion. Both Johnny and Alton work their own sound into a very beautiful number here.
I have taken the album version and instrumental from the 45 rpm single of “Hang On In There Baby” and phased this magic into a new ReStructure Mix. The new percussion base is only a light addition to the original production and gives way to a new intro and fade.
