ReStructure Mix Update (9/8/25): ”Get Down Tonight” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – K.C. and The Sunshine Band

K.C. and The Sunshine Band are the spark which helped to ignite the disco fuse in the early 70s. Their big radio hit “Get Down Tonight” from 1975 made many feet and hearts move. It was the beginning of a new movement in clubs and venues where dance became the reason and purpose. Led by Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch the group became known as the Miami Sound and helped to pave the way for the success of Henry Stone’s disco legacy T.K. Records. “Get Down Tonight” has a direction which takes a romance to the dance floor every night possible as the disco scene did to couples and dancers everywhere and in its simple yet motivating lyrics it takes on the nightlife in exposing the excitement and meaning.

I have taken the album and instrumental versions of “Get Down Tonight” and worked in some new directions for this ReStructure Mix. Waking the intro into a new fading rhythm build and then taking that energy into a few new breakdowns.
