Primitive Fire
is a 90’s house project from Mitch Kitz and Susan Davy. Their sound was the
light touch of big band meets jazz fused with a bumping house bass beat. The
melodic range of songs includes “You Could Have Been With Me Last Night” from
1993 and is one of those pieces that stand out as a club/dance palace classic. It
is dreamy and flows with a catchy chorus build that almost brings us back to an
era Glenn Miller classics. It was always one which reminded me of Dr. Buzzard’s
Original Savannah Band material with a 90’s house groove.
I have taken the
12” “Ballroom version” and dub of “You Could Have Been With Me Last Night “ and
reworked it for this ReStructure Mix. It utilizes the atmospheric horns as an
intro and more breaks using the samples from K.I.D.’s “Hupendi Muziki Wangu?! (You
Don't Like My Music)”.
