ReStructure Mix Update (12/6/22): “What’s In It For Me” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Zalmac featuring Zulema

ReStructure Mix Update (12/6/22): “What’s In It For Me” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Zalmac featuring Zulema

Zalmac is Al MacDowell along with Zulema Cusseaux (”Change”) released in 1982 and defining a new period for dance music in the early 80s in a New York soul depiction. Having soul-diva Zulema on board is a big lift for the sound itself as she represented an untapped soulful edge during her solo-career. “What’s In It For Me” is a single from the project titled “Whatcha Gonna Do” and is one piece that gives several surprises – the theme of a distant lover assisting in survenlance to a secret love whose interest is detained. Zulema performs this one with all of her power and mite and helps bring this street-sound to a new level. It is one of my favorite underground hits and always made my dance floor go “boom” early in those evenings.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “What’s In It For Me” and reworked the track as if it were an old friend in this ReStructure Mix. The percussion riffs that stand out are brought the core of the mix and an extended chorus is added.
