The Associates are Billy MacKenzie and Alan Rankine - a synth-pop group from Scotland. Their 1988 album “The Glamour Chase” featured their cover of Blondie’s disco hit “Heart Of Glass” and was produced by Chris Hughes and Ross Cullum. This being one of the rekindles of a classic which lays out another segment of ingenuity. Their electronic take on the Blondie number with their vision and sound. A mildly played arrangement utilizes the ideas of a crescendo placed within the build of the song without exhausting it means. One of the great covers in general where the concept is close to the original yet reaching in another direction.
I have taken the 12” vocal and dub mix to recreate a new ReStructure Mix of The Associates “Heart Of Glass”. I have utilized the forming edges of some segments and reused them as riffs and also given the new arrangement a few new breaks and segues.
