"Porcupine" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Natural Zone

"Porcupine" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Natural Zone
Natural Zone is Steve Feldman and bass guitarist, Tom Dawes (Red Rubber Ball, Neon) creating a disco sweep with the 1976 "Porcupine" single. Released on London Records as a single with the flavor of funk/soul and the outline of disco music during it's growth. At times you may feel you are listening to pieces of The Salsoul Orchestra...

I have taken the 12" single version and created a new ReStructure Mix using loops and edits to showcase it's groove and funky-flare. It really is one of the early disco instrumental gems of the time.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to a long-time friend, Mario - who requested this piece to be remixed and also reminded me of just how funky disco music can be! Thank you, Mario - for you undying input and support!

"What I Do To Men" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ann Margret

"What I Do To Men" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Ann Margret
Ann Margret is an actress and singer from the 60s. Her career began when she was discovered by George Burns as she was performing in a nightclub. Much of Ann's work during the 60s were the musicals and film credits which placed her in the role of the "sex-kitten" or the female counter part to Elvis Presley.

In 1979 Ann released a disco project which featured her single "Love Rush". Produced by disco producer, Paul Sabu (Debbie Jacobs, Sister Power) and fitting for a new age of sexy-cover for Ms. Margret during the disco era.

I have taken the album version of "What I Do To Men" and have given it a ReStructure Mix - pulling out the synth and bass to give the track a longer groove. Ann sings about the mystique of her effect on men and then takes the opportunity to work it again. A great camp track and also a nice play for Ann's sexy vocal.

"Dance With Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tangarue

"Dance With Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Tangarue
Tangerue is a disco studio ensemble led by Bruce Weeden and Canadian disco producer, Eddy Strauman who also worked with Nightlife Unlimited, Plastic Surprise and Ultimate. Many of the players in this project have also worked on late 70s disco projects which helped to complete the late dance era.

"Dance With Me" is a sweet disco track from the Tangerue project which has the touch-disco feel with the old 40s big-band gals enticing the floor. It is one of the orchestrations of disco music which mark a fabulous period of dance music.

I have taken the album version and have given it a bit of a ReStructure Mix touch adding a new intro and some new effects to beef up the invitation.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to a legend: Ms. Summer Channing - just hold on tight to the window my dear if you decide to serenade the crowd below! Much love and respect for your wonderful friendship! Let's work on a Summer Channing revival!

"Do You Want The Real Thing" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - D.C. LaRue

"Do You Want The Real Thing" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - D.C. LaRue
D.C. LaRue is an innovative and unique disco artist from a period of dance history which marked the minds and fantasies of club goers around the world. His music helped to move the dance floor into a new stage of imagination and shape the sound of disco music that even today is worshiped and adored.

"Do You Want The Real Thing" is a single released in 1978 in the big disco soundtrack, "Thank God It's Friday". The production of this single by Bob Esty rings a mysterious and tribal-like feel. It is one of the most perfect sleaze tracks from the time period.

I have taken the 12" extended version of "Do You Want The Real Thing" and decided to take the track even deeper into the fantasy - with a few guest spots and jungle drums to add a layer of excitement to the teasing flare.

Dedicated to the incredible team of disco pioneers and my earliest influences of disco music: Bob Esty and Mr. D.C. LaRue - thank you boys...it will go on forever!

“Stormy Weather” by Viola Wills – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Stormy Weather” by Viola Wills – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Viola Wills is a talented vocalist with a long run with the recording industry beginning in the mid-60s and then onto the late 70s becoming one of disco music’s well-known divas. During 1979 Viola emerged with one of the classic disco records from the period – a dance cover of Gordon Lightfoot’s “If You Could Read My Mind”.

In 1982 Viola released a cover of “Stormy Weather” – a dance cover of 1933 song originally recorded by Ethel Waters – and then featured in a film by the same name – sung my Lena Horne.

I have taken the 1943 musical and combined the stage and choreography with the disco version by Viola Wills. The wonderful sequences of the title song are merged along with the disco mood and a few touches of the dancing sequences.

The film was directed by Andrew L. Stone

This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to the memory of Ms. Viola Wills who left us in 2009

"Metropolis Suite" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bobby 'O (released under Lyn Toddd)

"Metropolis Suite" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Bobby 'O (released under Lyn Toddd)

"Metropolis Suite" is a brief instrumental piece from Bobby Orlando which was featured on his production of 80s rock-artist, Lyn Todd. The 1980 was formulated as a play for Orlando to take his electronic disco sound into a new arena. One of the more memorable tracks for me was this Orlando number that features his classic keyboard sound. Much of what he did with Divine, The Flirts and his own solo career during the time.

I have taken the just over 2 minute track and have given it the ReStructure Mix to extend and give an opportunity to return to the sound which we all knew on dance floors during the 80s.

"I Cry For You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Shy Rose

"I Cry For You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Shy Rose
Shy Rose is an Italo-disco artist produced by Antonio d'Addezio in the mid-80s - her first single "I Cry For You" - which is basically a new disco track utilizing The Twins' "Face To Face (Heart To Heart)" riff and flowing melody as the basis for new lyrics and meaning.

I have taken the original 12" version and have given it a new high energy - ReStructure Mix update using the fabulous percussion fills and synthesizer pieces. It is fast moving love song and may give many an opportunity to discover the high energy era of the 80s, if missed.

"Is There More To Life Than Dancing" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Noel

"Is There More To Life Than Dancing" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Noel
Noel is a disco act created by Ron Mael and Russell Mael (better know as Sparks). The LP "Is There More To Life Than Dancing" is the sound of the electronic edge of dance music of the late 70s heavily influenced by Giorgio Moroder.

"Is There More To Life Than Dancing" is intriguing - not only the theme and title are a bit appropriate for the end of a disco era but the eerie sound of the chorus and synthesizers. Perfect for escape and fantasy.

I have ReStructure the LP version and gave it a bit more of the pulsating synthesizers and bongo loops. If you have any question in your mind about the track - are your feet moving?

"Boys Will Be Boys" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Duncan Sisters

"Boys Will Be Boys" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Duncan Sisters
Helen and Phyllis Duncan are Duncan Sisters - along with the disco producers, Ian Guenther and Willi Morrison. Their first solo album from 1979 would qualify as one of the best disco albums recorded.

"Boys Will Be Boys" is the second single from the LP and is a favorite among disco connoisseurs and followers of The Duncans from THP #2 and Sticky Fingers. The track has a Western feel with a twang here and there.

I have taken the 12" version and created a ReStructure Mix with a bit more of the bongo, bass and rhythm tracks - along with the wonderful vocals of the Duncan Sisters laid on heavy.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Nick and Lindsay - thank you for asking - it was fun!

"Gimme Back My Love Affair" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sister Power

"Gimme Back My Love Affair" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sister Power
Sister Power is a disco group from Producer Paul Sabu - who also brought us a couple of solo disco projects, Debbie Jacobs, an Ann Margret disco album and singles, and many engineering and remix projects during the early 80s.

Gwen Jonae supplies the lead vocal for Sister Power - and she fills the rolls of "disco diva" quite well. "Gimme Back My Love Affair" was the first single from the "Sister Power" album. One of the most exciting and innovative disco tracks of the last period of the disco era.

I have taken the promo 12" and have given the song a new ReStructure Mix with some breakaway moments and extended elements. It is intended to give the song another moment to feel the energy and power of disco music.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to George T. from Facebook for his support and for giving the disco diva a home again!

"La Bamba" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Antonia Rodriguez

"La Bamba" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Antonia Rodriguez
Antonia Rodriguez is a disco singer producer by German producer, Horst Hornung in the late 70s.Her LP "Dance With Me" featured a cover of the Mexican folk song, "La Bamba" (which means to 'shake" or 'stomp').

It is perhaps one of the slickest adaptions to disco music igniting a new energy with strings, horns and a uplifting disco chorus and vocal. The production features musicians, Mats Bjorklund and Geoff Bastow (Stainless Steal, K.I.D.). A fantastic arrangement and execution.

Antonia was mistakenly released as 'Antonio" in the US on domestic labels - but her performance has always been noticed in discotheques as one of the liveliest and memorable of the disco-cover era.

This ReStructure Mix consists of the 12" single re-blended and reworked to create a whole new experience! Ole'!

"Mondo Disco" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - El Coco

"Mondo Disco" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - El Coco
El Coco is W. Michael Lewis and Laurin Rinder - a duo moving underground disco of the mid-70s into a new phase. Their first LP "Mondo Disco" is a successful experimental session using their musical talent to capture the funky elements of a new lounge/dance sound.

"Mondo Disco" is one of the grooviest pieces of dance music utilizing the wah-wah guitar and dreamy keyboards in a peculating groove. It is one of my favorite - sensual - songs from Rinder and Leiws.

I have taken the 12" version and created a whole new arrangement and feel for the disco-esque feel of this wonderful song.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Mr. W. Michael Lewis and Mr. Laurin Rinder - thank you for shaping the dance floor in the right direction!

“The Bull” by The Mike Theodore Orchestra – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“The Bull” by The Mike Theodore Orchestra – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
The Mike Theodore Orchestra is Michael Richard Theodore – a soul, funk and disco producer during the late mid and late 70s recreating his talent with a powerful production and style. “The Bull” is from his 1977 album “Cosmic Wind”, which stands as a classic among knowledgeable and demanding disco fans.

I have taken the “The Bull” and combined it with the 1941 film, “Blood and Sand” with Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell and Rita Hayworth. This Technicolor film is based on the Spanish novel from 1909 – the story of an illiterate peasant who rises to fame and fortune in the bullfighting arena.

NOTE: I DO NOT SUPPORT ANIMAL CRUELTY – THEREFORE THE IMAGES OF THIS SPORT ARE INTENDED FOR THE DISPLAY OF PAST EVENTS ONLY

The film was directed by Rouben Mamoulian
