Antonia Rodriguez is a disco singer producer by
German producer, Horst Hornung in the late 70s.Her LP "Dance With Me"
featured a cover of the Mexican folk song, "La Bamba" (which means
to 'shake" or 'stomp').
It is perhaps one of the slickest adaptions to disco music igniting a new energy with strings, horns and a uplifting disco chorus and vocal. The production features musicians, Mats Bjorklund and Geoff Bastow (Stainless Steal, K.I.D.). A fantastic arrangement and execution.
Antonia was mistakenly released as 'Antonio" in the US on domestic labels - but her performance has always been noticed in discotheques as one of the liveliest and memorable of the disco-cover era.
