ReStructure Mix Update (4/30/20) “Vibes” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – African Suite

ReStructure Mix Update (4/30/20) “Vibes” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – African Suite

African Suite is a disco project from producer Ritchie Rome – who also brought us The Ritchie Family, Westside Strutters and Flower. His movement here is a theme in a mystical disco ream in a fantasy in Africa. The title of the project speaks to itself. “Vibes” is a piece from a medley where whispery femme narrators outline strange phrases and mystical chants. One of the nice elements here are the drums and percussion which were the building blocks of the late 70’s disco period. Although Rome created a very strange production it plays out very well in the disco realm of adventure and mystery. One of those early morning sounds that I always admired.

I have taken the album version of “Vibes” and recreated a new ReStructure Mix to pay tribute to Ritchie Rome and this project. More deep pounding drums are added to give the new version a facelift as well as a new arrangement.

REISSUE: “Hooray For Hollywood” by The Coney Island Chorus Girls – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera The Coney Island Chorus Girls is disco project from W. Michael Lewis and Laurin Rinder (El Coco, Le Pamplemousse, St. Tropez, Tuxedo Junction) and one of the disco genre of the mid 70s – discovering a standard or classic. This uplifting Hollywood parade anthem from Johnny Mercer and Richard A. Whitling gets a mild disco bass and the sassy-play chorus. I have taken the MGM salute, “That’s Entertainment Part II” with Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire and painted a short but deserved montage of those big musicals that made us want to salute life in disco’s with a song and a dance! REISSUE: "Ready For The 80s” by Village People – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: "Ready For The 80s” by Village People – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Village People released their fifth album in 1979 and appropriately featured a sendoff of the fabulous 70s into the adventurous and new 80s. Music would change but the need to dance did not cease. The album titled, “Live and Sleazy” featured three sides from a live concert and four new songs. “Ready For The 80s” I decided to use homage to the new crop of images, music and talent of the 80s – I may have left a few out – but this is the blend in the kaleidoscope of art. The medley is dedicated to all of you – for without your dedication and love for dance music the mirror ball would have stopped a long time ago. Keep that uplifting feeling alive! REISSUE: “In A Gadda Da Vida / Garden Of Eden” by Disco Circus – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “In A Gadda Da Vida / Garden Of Eden” by Disco Circus – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Disco Circus is a disco concept group formed by producer Jürgen S. Korduletsch (Claudja Barry’s husband and producer) – one of the heading disco groups to take dance floors into an electronic sound complete with brass, drums and guitars. The band released their first self-titled LP which was produced and recorded at Music Land Studios in Munich Germany. Many musicians in the session included many of disco’s players who helped to create a progression in the 70s disco scene. I have taken the first second single track and cover of Iron Butterfly’s “In A Gadda Da Vida” and a second part added piece “Garden Of Eden” into this Disco Video Mix – along with scenes from the 2007 film, “Across The Universe” – starring Evan Rachel Wood and Jim Sturgess. The film features a look back at the Vietnam War and many of the causes for change in a society where many political and social events were protested. With the feel of the 1968 “In A Gadda Da Vida” – it paints a simple picture of youth and their eyes seeing the world with less conviction to what they have been told. REISSUE: “Beatles 60’s Medley” by Stars On 45 – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “Beatles 60’s Medley” by Stars On 45 – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Stars On 45 is a Dutch dance project started by Jaap Eggermont where “bits and pieces” of classic rock, standards and pop songs were compiled into a medley. Inspired by a DJ bootleg disc titled “Let’s Do It Again” from 1980 where the actual songs were mixed over the rhythm track to “Nanu, Nanu (I Wanna Funky Wich You)” by Daddy Dewdrops. This mass production included medleys from ABBA, Motown, rock giants and The Beatles. “Beatles 60’s Medley” is from the first album released by Stars On 45 which soon became a touring group covering medleys by various pop groups with sound-alike singers and tracks. I have taken the medley and blended it with The Beatles 1964 comedy, “A Hard Day’s Night” which features clips and images from the days in the lives of these very talented men who are now the markers in history for a wave of new rock n’ roll. The film was directed by Richard Lester Featuring scenes from “A Hard Day’s Night” – RENT THE DVD! Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Produced by Ken Emmons

REISSUE: “New York” by Nuggets – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

REISSUE: “New York” by Nuggets – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera Nuggets are a studio ensemble produced by Angelo and Felix Piccarreda and arranged by Italian disco producer Celso Valli along with Munich-engineer Jürgen Koppers. The 1979 LP titled “N.Y.” was released during the disco boom of the period and was quite a celebratory event. Featuring the titled track “New York” and a cover of “Proud Mary” – a tribute to America and the sensation that the late 70s disco scene created. I have taken the titled track “New York” along with the 1980 film “Can’t Stop The Music” starring Village People, Valerie Perrine and Bruce Jenner (in his first movie role) – an outline of the late Village People founder and producer Jacques Morali and his discovery of one of disco music’s fabulous acts. The celebratory dance sequences and silly drama provide an uplifting backdrop for this Disco Video Mix. ReStructure Mix Update (4/28/20) “Give Me Back My Heart” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Robin Wright

ReStructure Mix Update (4/28/20) “Give Me Back My Heart” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Robin Wright

Robin Wright is one of the 80’s voices from the high energy genre which marked a nice growth in dance music history. Along with producers Ian Gant and Ian Anthony Stephens they created a blend of deep house music and high energy which brought some of the transition into the light. Under the title Midnight Shift several singles in the high energy vein were released and began their legacy on dance floors. “Give Me Back My Heart” is their single from 1988 and is a song following heartbreak and realization. It is an emotional piece that plays out with a production featuring all of the elements of the high energy genre. The beauty of this song is the production and the resonating keyboard riffs.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Give Me Back My Heart” and played out a new ReStructure Mix to pay homage to the 80’s high energy era. A few new elements added using the original production are outlined and placed to give the song a new feel.

REISSUE: "Hot Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - U.N.

REISSUE: "Hot Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - U.N. U.N. is a disco project from Tony Green who also gave us France Joli, Freddie James, Colorblind, Caroline Bernier, Thunder & Lightning, Black Star, Sharon and Norma Lewis. His productions during the late seventies were a big part of the disco explosion and the roaring wall of beats and beautiful horns and strings. As in several other studio projects, included here are Denis LePage and The Sweethearts of Sigma. I have taken the track from the 4-track album titled “Hot Lover” and have given it the ReStructure Mix treatment. It is one of those earthy and sensual disco tracks and thanks to the lead vocals from Goldie Alexander (“Show You My Love”) this one sounds like a lion roaring for more. Thanks to Joey L. of New York for requesting a ReStructure Mix of this underground classic and also giving me a chance to play with the fabulous percussion that both Prelude and Tony Green were made of!

REISSUE: "Let's Lovedance Tonight" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Gary's Gang

REISSUE: "Let's Lovedance Tonight" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Gary's Gang Eric Matthew (Sharon Redd, Tracy Weber, Status IV, Betty LaVette, John Travolta's "A Girl Like You) and Gary R. Turnier (Vicky "D", Komiko) were Gary's Gang along with several band members. Their initial hit, "Keep On Dancing" was produced with the formula that disco music matured into from the mid-70's to the late part of the "fever". The LP spawned another hit titled, "Let's Lovedance Tonight" - a sound alike of "Keep On Dancing" yet enough riffs and one of the most sampled rhythm tracks to make it stand out on it's own. I have taken "Let's Lovedance Tonight" and given it a open mix full of the rhythm and percussion that made it stand out. The vocals are as sweet as the "gang" was known for, so this one is a real treat.

REISSUE: “Mischief" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - French Kiss

REISSUE: “Mischief" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - French Kiss Simon Soussan produced artist such as Jessica Williams, Pattie Brooks, Romance, Arpeggio, Shalamar, Leroy Gomez, Charisma and French Kiss. From his 1979 project "Panic!" featuring, Jessica Williams, Lamar Stevens and Muffi Durham came an intriguing instrumental piece titled, "Mischief". This track was a hypnotic track with a pulsating synthesizer outline and some great strings accenting it. It was one of those tracks with much promise on the dance floor. This ReStructure Mix extends the hook of the song and gives it an extended arrangement. Dedicated to Cole for bringing the song back into my mind - it was always a favorite.

REISSUE: "Fly Too High" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Janis Ian

REISSUE: "Fly Too High" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Janis Ian Talented singer-songwriter, Janis Ian took a brief turn into disco along with the master himself - Giorgio Moroder in 1979 with "Fly Too High". The single is from her LP titled, "Night Rains" - the track was also featured on the soundtrack from the film, "Foxes" the same year. The song's original laid back sound is challenged in this ReStructure Mix with a touch of a few new elements and a re-looping of the tracks magic. It is one of the most intriguing not only for the recording history but also the wonder of how Moroder's magic synthesizers and keyboards worked in many ways.

REISSUE: "Climb/Rushin' To Meet You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Midnight Rhythm

REISSUE: "Climb/Rushin' To Meet You" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Midnight Rhythm Midnight Rhythm is a disco project from Joe Long and Robby Adcock - who always gave us Hallelujah 2000, C.M. Lord, Liquid Gold, Joe Long Sound. This production is a complete orchestrated and arranged dance sensation which took dance floors to a place called "disco heaven". A sound where a crescendo builds and builds to a satisfying climax. "Climb/Rushin' To Meet You" is from the self-titled album and is contained there as a 15 minute suite. It is one of the most extensive pieces of disco music and remains a classic. Vocals include both Joe and Robby as well as Hodges James and Smith. I have taken the full album version and ReStructured the pieces into a new version. Dedicated to Mr. Ramon A. Sandoval - for sharing in insight and talent with myself and the world - his note is to thank Marsha Stern as production assistant on this recording as well as Patricia Hodges for her vocals and DJ Bobby Viteritti for the support. Get to movin'!

REISSUE: “Love’s Comin’ At Ya”” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Melba Moore

REISSUE: “Love’s Comin’ At Ya”” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Melba Moore Melba Moore is one of the true disco artists who came at the inception of the disco era boom. Her big singles “You Stepped Into My Life” and “Pick Me I’ll Dance” are placemats for a dance floor and are now dance classics. Melba’s 1982 album “The Other Side Of The Rainbow” gave us another opportunity to hear her power in a new electronic-funk sound produced by Kashif. It was a new groove created with a morphed keyboard playing out like a Jimmy Hendrix guitar. The single “Love’s Comin’ At Ya” is one of the tracks that I would play out for packed dance floors using two copies to extend for a wanting crowd. It is also one of my favorite moments when Melba’s vocals take a song and make it more lyrical and sweet. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Love’s Comin’ At Ya” to recreate this ReStructure Mix and add a touch more of a dub and dreamy feel to the original soul. It has a longer take off and a smooth fade. It is a great feeling to hear that 80’s funk sound exploding all over again.

REISSUE: "Give It Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Claudja Barry

REISSUE: "Give It Up" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Claudja Barry
Disco chanteuse Claudja Barry made the 70s a wholesome disco experience. Many of her tracks produced by her husband Jurgen S. Jorduletsch and include many muscians and studio ensemble from The Disco Munich Period. "Give It Up" is a cut from her 1978 Lp "Boogie Woogie Dancin' Shoes" and received some airplay during the big peak of disco radio. It has some definite "funky" grooves and I have given it a new face lift.

REISSUE: "You Can Get Over" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Stephanie Mills

REISSUE: "You Can Get Over" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Stephanie Mills Stephanie Mills is a vocalist who began a recording career in 1975 with her LP “For The First Time” produced by Hal David and Burt Bacharach. She also starred in the Broadway sensation “The Wiz” which became her vehicle for the 70s and into the disco era with her album “Whatcha Gonna Do With My Lovin’” in 1979 - a powerhouse project with several hits including “Put Your Body In It”, “Feel The Fire”, Whatcha Gonna Do With My Lovin’” and the uplifting anthem, “You Can Get Over”. I have taken the 12” version of “You Can Get Over” and created a ReStructure Mix - focusing on the beautiful string sections and rolling synthesizer breaks. Formulating a new dub-like version with the verses intact with a bit more extending and play on words. It is one of my favorite disco songs of all time and an opportunity to enforce my beliefs on our existence where “we” are the center of the universe and a belief in that power is the future of our world! Dedicated to us all and the power we all possess.

REISSUE: "Wear It Out" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Stargard

REISSUE: "Wear It Out" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Stargard
1977 was the birth of Stargard. Their hit single "Which Way Is Up" from the Richard Pryor comedy film started a funky beginning with producer Mark Davis and soul connoisseur, Norman Whitfield as writer. A new sound was being introduced here with plenty of impact. In 1978 their second LP "What You Waitin' For" was another excursion into a funk encounter. But "The Changing of The Gard" introduced a new production team, Robert Wright and Verdine White taking control of these ladies - and "Wear It Out" was the single. This ReStructure uses the power of the 12" single which runs well over the mix - this one was referred by Daniel here in San Diego and should bring back some memories of the end of the most powerful dance era in music.

REISSUE: “Love How You Feel" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sharon Redd

REISSUE: “Love How You Feel" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Sharon Redd The fabulous Sharon Redd graces the dance floor again with "Love How Your Feel" in 1983 - another New York disco classic.Produced by Eric Matthew (Gary's Gang) and once again in sensual energy that Redd delivers so well. Sharon's earlier hits "Can You Handle It", "Beat The Street" and "In The Name Of Love" are complete dance floor masterpieces and in this track you can hear a lose display of funk and disco unleashed for a sparing mix. I have taken the track and extended some elements and embellished a few segments of the naughty lyrics. A play land for disco moves and pleasure. This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Alan H. - thank you for asking :)

ReStructure Mix Update (4/27/20) “Hookey” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sylvi Foster

ReStructure Mix Update (4/27/20) “Hookey” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sylvi Foster

Sylvi Foster is Domenico Ricchini and is also known as Joe Yellow (“Lover To Lover”) during the early 80’s when Italo-disco began to take over dance floors. “Hookey” is his second single released in 1982 on Discomagic Records and one of the well-known progressive tracks of the time utilizing heavy synth keyboards and a unique vocal style. It was an expression of electronic bands like Yaz a few years earlier from Vince Clarke where his experimental work began a new era of dance music. The song as Sylvi plays out a strange love sonnet for a romance with a “cat call” for her affection. One of the big Italo-disco pieces that many progressive DJs were able to program and make use of it’s originally.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Hookey” and reworked the keyboards over and over to create this ReStructure Mix. There are a few samples from Yaz and a techno hit from the 90’s titled “Dildo” to savor the keyboards.

REISSUE: “Come Back” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Vivian Vee

REISSUE: “Come Back” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Vivian Vee Vivian Vee is an Italo-disco artist who worked with producers Claudio Simonetti and Giancarlo Meo. Their work in the late 70s and early 80s helped to bring Italo-disco to the forefront and lead the way for the high energy explosion. “Come Back” is the third single from her 1979 album “Give Me A Break” – where the title track dominated the clubs in early 80s. This single a love song begging an estranged lover to return for more love or closure. It is a similar sound as the electronic work which Simonetti and Meo helped to launch in the Italo-disco genre early on. Vivian has a melodic performance again here and although her words at times are not so clear it is still a pleasant experience in her delivery. I have taken the 12” version of “Come Back” and redesigned the flow of the song for this ReStructure Mix. Taking the percussion from breaks and segments of the track to enhance others. This is great piece not only for the breakdown of recreating disco music electronically but also for the thrill of its energy and direction.

REISSUE: "Blue Disease" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Vivien Vee

REISSUE: "Blue Disease" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Vivien Vee Vivien Vee is a disco star from Italy discovered by Claudio Simonetti and Giancarlo Meo. Her big hit "Give Me A Break" from 1979 helped to bridge the gap from disco music to high energy during the early 80s. "Blue Disease" is from her LP "With Vivien Vee" from 1983 - a project which features many tracks following the funk/Italo-disco style being modeled after New York disco - much like the sound created by Change. "Blue Disease" is the true essence of the robotic synthesizer sound created by songs like "I Feel Love" by Donna Summer - earlier Vivien followed with the production by Simonetti and Meo on the flip side of "Give Me A Break", a track called "Remember". I have ReStructured "Blue Disease" using the album version and adding a drop beat to give the song a funky edge and also extending and looping moving parts of the song.

REISSUE: “Heart Beat” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Vivian Vee

REISSUE: “Heart Beat” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Vivian Vee Vivian Vee made a wonderful transition into the late 80’s club music scene in 1987 with her high-energy hit “Heart Beat”. This time under the production of Alvaro Ugolini and Darlo Raimondi (of Fun Fun) and with more of the power that the dance floors required. The track begins with a strong percussion baseline and climbs level by level to a range where Vivian’s soft and childlike voice becomes a presence we have never heard before. It is one of the high-energy favs among those who followed the Italo-disco scene and knew what it was morphing into at the time. I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental version of “Heart Beat” and translated the long song into a new ReStructure Mix. Using more of the instrumental to create a new flowing edge for this powerhouse song.

REISSUE: “Sex Appeal” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Vivian Vee

REISSUE: “Sex Appeal” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Vivian Vee
Vivian Vee is an Italo-disco artist who took the dance world over with her first album “Give Me A Break” produced by Claudio Simonetti and Giancarlo Meo in 1979. The project seemed to ignite the sweep of Italian disco productions in the coming years. “Sex Appeal” is a single from 1982 and uses a bass guitar lick to bring more of a sleaze feel to Vivian’s sexy performance. A great early morning track with the feel of the great sound of Simonetti and Meo leading the way into a use of synths, drums and keyboards in a whole new package. I have taken the 12” of “Sex Appeal” and created a laid back ReStructure Mix which takes edits and loops of the hypnotic bass to use. This reworking gives the original another opportunity to display the best of the early 80s in that underground feel.

REISSUE: "Give Me A Break" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Vivian Vee

REISSUE: "Give Me A Break" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Vivian Vee Vivian Vee (Viviana Andreattini) is a disco star discovered by disco producers Claudio Simonetti and Giancarlo Meo (Easy Going, Capricorn) in the late 70s. Her first single "Give Me A Break" was a huge disco hit internationally and in the states. It was the resurgence of uplifting and "feel-good" disco music and began a whole new period of disco music which would soon become high energy. I have taken the 12" version of this monster club hot and ReStructured it to pieces and glued it back in a re-edit that is sure to give a new feel for your ears, but maintain the power of the original. Dedicated to the masters Claudio Simonetti and Giancarlo Meo

ReStructure Mix Update (4/26/20) “I Can Hear Your Heartbeat” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Chris Rea

ReStructure Mix Update (4/26/20) “I Can Hear Your Heartbeat” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Chris Rea Chris Rea is a singer/guitarist from the UK who took a venture onto the dance floor sound in the early 80’s with his project titled “Water Sign” – produced by Dave Richards and himself. The track “I Can Hear Your Heartbeat” is one of the 1983 releases that enlightened my dance floor for months. It is a love song with a nice funky twist which plays out wonderfully;;y with its upbeat feel and celebratory sound. It is one of my favorites from the 80’s from the many nights watching crowds move to it were so positive and uplifting. I have taken the 12” version of “I Can Hear Your Heartbeat” and recreated a new ReStructure Mix using the rhythm guitars as more of an outline. There are also sdme new added breaks to give it more of a spotlight for the dance floors.

REISSUE: "Poinciana" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paradise Express

REISSUE: "Poinciana" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Paradise Express In 1978, Paradise Express released their first LP. Producers Henry Cosby and Phil Jones gave Herb Jimmerson and his wife and lead vocalist, Vi Ann their break on the disco scene. But it was not long after when they caught onto the formula that was necessary for dance floors and came forth with the second LP, “Let’s Fly”. Both LPs are winners. They contain Jimmerson’s magic keyboards and Vi Ann’s fabulous vocals. On this first LP “Poinciana” was my choice for one of the loveliest tracks recorded for a cover song – recorded by Bing Crosby in 1944 and charted at the time. The backing vocals on the first LP were performed magnificently by Two Tons O’ Fun (Izora Rhodes and Martha Wash) and Sharon Hymes giving the songs a touch of magic. I had the privilege of seeing Paradise Express here in San Diego back in 1979 at a local club when “You Set Me On Fire” and “Let’s Fly” were on top of the dance charts. It was an incredible experience – Vi Ann truly brought the house down and Herb was right by her side. Not much is known about them and where they are now, but these LPs and this song will live on forever in many disco enthusiasts minds and feet. My ReStructure gives “Poinciana” a chance to reach some new listeners and dancers.

REISSUE: “Love Power" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Roberta Kelly

REISSUE: “Love Power" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Roberta Kelly Roberta Kelly was produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellote - the producers had a success with Donna Summer and were working with Kelly to create a similar image in disco music. The 1976 LP "Trouble Maker" was a success for Kelly in discotheques thanks to hip and upbeat number on the LP. "Love Power" is a track that was Moroder's sound with a funky appeal - his bass sequencers and keyboards adorn this track over and above. I am celebrating the inauguration of our new President Barack Obama with this message in "Love Power" with hope for a new world where anyone, no matter what or who they are can hold their head up high in anywhere and give and take "love". We have many more obstacles to overcome, but it is possible. This ReStructure is for all of you.

REISSUE: “The Glow Of Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Change

REISSUE: “The Glow Of Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Change Change is one of the landmark moments of the early 80s. This production by Jacques Fred Petrus and Goody Music Orchestra is a magnificent breath of New York disco and the innovative sound of Italo-disco/funk - most likely influence by Chic. "Glow Of Love" is the title track which features the late Luther Vandross on lead vocal - leading the way into a track that climbs and climbs with a nice roller-skate beat and feel. One of the treasures of the period. I have ReStructured the song and have given it a complete new arrangement to treat the ears to something different and new - for those who have danced to it over-and-over.

REISSUE: "Under The Influence of Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Love Unlimited

REISSUE: "Under The Influence of Love” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Love Unlimited Love Unlimited is the backing group for the disco magic created by Barry White in the early 70s. A smooth trio of voices which created a lush symphony of dance music shifting from soul to a new genre titled disco. The members are Glodean James, Linda James and Diane Taylor – three sisters. Their 1973 track “Under The Influence of Love” is from the album by the same title and creates the beauty of Barry White with a lush string section grooving to soulful bass and guitars. It is truly one of the landmark times for the pre-disco period and offers again the celebration of dance and love. I have taken the album version of “Under The Influence of Love” and recreated this ReStructure Mix giving the greatest of the original an alternative disco DJ hand. More of the strings and powerful intro are given a new placement and assistance with some her drum elements.

REISSUE: "Music" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - M.A. 3

REISSUE: "Music" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - M.A. 3 M.A.3 (also known as Menage A 3) is Shuki Levy and Deborah Shelton. This project from producer, songwriter and Haim Saban from 1978 featured a medley of Bee Gees songs titled “Bee Gees Mania” – and appropriate for Shuki and his vocal falsetto. The album was released on the Canadian label, Able Records and had a limited release. “Music” is a track which was recorded by French artist, France Gall in 1977 – recorded in French. This cover version carries a funky and sweet feel with sweeping strings and a abstract and powerful performance by Shuki Levy. It has the feel of a great early morning classic from dance palaces. I have taken the album version and created a ReStructure Mix to give some of the fanfare a new stage. Adding a few new pieces from familiar disco classics and also pound a bit more energy into this melodic anthem.

ReStructure Mix Update (4/25/20) “Gloria” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Santa Esmeralda

ReStructure Mix Update (4/25/20) “Gloria” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Santa Esmeralda

Santa Esmeralda is one of disco music’s most incredible ensembles during the late 70’s. This band formulated and produced by Jean-Manuel de Scarano and Nicolas Skorsky began its rein by covering the 1964 song “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” (a cover of Nina Simone’s original) where it became a notable hit. Santa Esmeralda’s version in 1977 is a finale mark for the song where the injection of disco music’s elements creates a smooth transition for the already very popular track. I can remember working in record shops during the late 70’s and having hardcore rock fans asking for the disco album recording and telling me that they favored it over the original. The studio recording of Santa Esmeralda’s also features disco produced/artist Don Ray (“Got To Have Loving”) on string and horn arrangements. The production here is the outstanding and throughout a 16 minute sonata only peaks which is the ultimate disco formula. “Gloria” is another cover for Santa Esmeralda on the same album and takes from the Van Morrison composition and originally recorded by his band titled Them. Again, Santa Esmeralda plays out this cover with the same flair and disco personality with damaging the song.

I have taken the album version of “Gloria” and excitably recreated a ReStructure Mix to take this piece apart and reassemble it into a new feat. I have added a drum track to settle the flamenco guitars onto and also added a breakdown from another wonderful recoding by Santa Esmeralda in their style and themed recordings.
