“General Hospi-Tale” by The Afternoon Delights – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
The Afternoon Delights is Janet Powell, Rebecca Hall, Robalee Barnes and Suzanne Boucher who took on a novelty dance track titled “General Hospi-Tale”. This spoof of the daytime soap era of the early 80’s was produced by Harry King. It is a simple rap-esque piece with a nice chorus riff that makes the number memorable and a bit cheesy but fun. It was a great radio escape to the fun side of dance music and even today turns heads.
I have taken the 1991 comedy “Soapdish” starring Sally Field, Kevin Kline and Cathy Moriarty as the outline for this comedic Disco Video Mix. The images make up for the rappin’ and indulging energy.
