Kangaroo is a disco project from producer, Harry Thumann who also gave us the dance floor classic, “Underwater” and “American Express”. His work was always refining and innovating music production along with his creative process. The best example is “Underwater” from 1979 where an electronic symphony echoes throughout outer=space. Kangaroo is a studio project where he worked with the very talented Lucy Neale (Silver Convention, Giorgio, Marsha Hunt, Donna Summer, Munich Machine) as she wrote the lyrics to outline his showcase music. “Bahamas” is a Calypso celebration with a touch of that light hearted mood. It was a huge hit for me in my club for peaks and also T=dances where a party could occur at any given moment. The production here is a layering of drums and percussion along with some funky rhythm guitars and breaks to give it a place on the dance floor.
I have taken the album version of “Bahamas” and reinvented more of the energy and excitement in for this ReStructure Mix. More of the percussion is empathized throughout the new remix and some new pieces are inserted to give this celebration a few more surprises.
