ReStructure Mix Update (5/2/21) “You Killed The Magic” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Arpeggio

Arpeggio is Jessica Williams, Fred Sawyers, Jason Reed and Jerry Scott. A disco ensemble by producer Simon Sousson in the late 70’s and throughout the 80’s. Their first album titled “Let The Music Play” from 1978 contained their biggest hit, “Love and Desire”. It was a complete sound for disco music of the time as innovative for technical and orchestral sounds for the time – it was all new and very exciting. “Breakout” is the follow-up project released in 1980 and even though the disco backlash had affected the industry the excitement and disco craft was evident. “You Killed The Magic” is a bitter sweet love song on a romance gone wrong and just why. The signal in this number is the funky rhythm guitars which take the song into a hypnotic dance effect. This again was a display of Soussan’s touch with a “chic” edge to his disco music and the vocalists and studio musicians who gave off the attitude in a wonderful display.

I have taken the album version of “You Killed The Magic” and rewired the drama for a new ReStructure Mix. A new disturbed drum pattern is overlaid in some segments to represent the “magic” becoming less consistent. The vocal arrangement is also broken into a few more pieces and then rewound for a new experience with Arpeggio.
