REISSUE: “Self Control" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Laura Branigan
Laura Branigan burst upon the dance scene of the 80's with her big hit, "Gloria" - many at first suspected that this might have been the new Donna Summer when hearing it echo through the clubs at first release. I can remember many coming up to the booth asking if it was the new Donna track.
Branigan's powerhouse vocals rocked her way onto the dance floor. Her follow up to "Gloria" was "Self Control". During a time where pop-dance was taking on more of a rock edge this track was perfect. It contained an early morning sleaze edge and an energy that made Branigan even more of a commodity in dance music history.
Sadly, Branigan passed in 2004 at the age of 47. She left behind some great pop-tracks and an unforgettable energy that was in my mind, the start of her career.
This ReStructure is dedicated to Laura and also Paul in NY for requesting an epic mix of the track.
Good energy to you all.
