Westside Strutters is a disco project originally from producers Phil Hurtt and Ritchie Rome with the single “Dealin’ With The Boogie” released in 1978. The desire to make the disco format one which contained all of the riffs and elements of disco music to this period were alive. This production makes use of the rhythm guitars and funky-disco breakdowns along with the chorus girl ensemble serenading the dance floor to do what they came for. The track lead to an album release in 1979 and featured disco version of songs written by George and Ira Gershwin.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Dealin’ With The Boogie” and placed the dramatic arrangement in this ReStructure Mix in a new way. A new heavy drum beat pounds out with the melody and lead guitars riffs to plaint a new dance identity.
