ReStructure Mix Update (3/5/23): “When Will I See You Again” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Magda Layna

Madga Layna is an artist who was a part of the resurgence of disco music in the early 80’s via San Francisco producer, Bill Motley – who also produced Boys Town Gang, Lisa and Margaret Reynolds. His dedication to the sound of disco productions is a period where his music created the lush strings of soaring dance tracks along with the funky guitars and heavy percussion. Magda Layna’s cover of The Three Degrees hit, “When Will I See You Again” is another feat where Motley scored with a more downbeat version in 1983. The sweet essence of the song remains intact along with the added synthesizers and drum breaks to give it that dance floor feel. One of the San Francisco disco classics from the classic Megatone Record label.

I have taken the 12” vocal version of Magda Layna’s “When Will I See You Again” and re-defined the track in this ReStructure Mix. The pieces from the original chorus now become breaks and the percussion breaks bridges to the beautiful verses. It is a new dub-end feel for this 80’s dance classic.
