ReStructure Mix Update (7/10/23): “Love’s Unkind” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Sophie Lawrence

Sophie Lawrence is an English singer and actress who released 2 singles in 1991 one which is a cover of Donna Summer’s 1977 track “Love’s Unkind”. This production from Pete Hammond captures the 50’s edge with an electronic edge with bass pulsating and key sequencers. It plays out with a distant feel of melodic parts echo through the rolling bass. A complete update of the saxophone driven original version. Sophie’s vocals are light and deliver the necessary love forlorn heroine who seems to be caught in a defiant situation in a much wanted relationship. The Summer version of course always rings the best with Donna giving tribute to the Motown era in her own way but this update plays a bit on the level of doing a masterful job at recreating the fun of heartbreak.

I have taken the 12” version of “Love’s Unkind” and re-edited a new ReStructure Mix to bring this disco classic back in the light again. New percussion and a rhythm track add to the layering of the new remix.
