ReStructure Mix Update (9/4/23): “Dream Street” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Janet Jackson

Janet Jackson grew up physically and musically right in front of our ears and eyes. Her second project titled “Dream Street” was produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte – an odd pairing however there was a connection since Moroder has worked with many 80’s artists creating club hits in his own style. With Jackson here there is very little connection however you do hear a touch of Moroder in some of the keyboard tracks. Later, Janet became a full-fledged artist with productions by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis where she was able to emerge like a butterfly out of the Jackson clan to be herself. “Dream Street” has the sound that Janet became in the early 80’s which personified her young and sweet personality with dreams and aspirations. It is a light production by Moroder and Bellotte but still contains that young Janet we were all waiting to see arrive.

I have taken the album version of “Dream Street” and reapplied several new drum tracks and some new percussion for this ReStructure Mix. There are some simple keyboard riffs which I have realigned and resurfaced for the authenticity of this remix.
