“Hot Jungle Drums and Voodoo Rhythm” by D.C. LaRue – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Hot Jungle Drums and Voodoo Rhythm” by D.C. LaRue – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

D.C. LaRue is a disco star – his music is an art form and in his own unique style. His first big disco hit, “Cathedrals” is now a classic and continues to lure new disco followers with his charming delivery. “Hot Jungle Drums and Voodoo Rhythm” comes from D.C.’s 1979 album, “Forces Of The Night” – which is produced, arranged and conducted by disco’s very talents, Bob Esty.

I have blended “Hot Jungle Drums and Voodoo Rhythm” in this Disco Video Mix with the 1957 sci-fi/horror flick, “Voodoo Woman” – a tale of a mad scientist using a native tribes voodoo to create an indestructible being to serve his orders. It is quite a camp piece and deserves to rock with this disco classic.

The film was directed by Edward L. Cahn

This Disco Video Mix is dedicated by Mr. Bob Esty and D.C. La Rue

“Boys Will Be Boys” by Duncan Sisters – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Boys Will Be Boys” by Duncan Sisters – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Phyllis and Helen Duncan are Duncan Sisters – they are known for their work with Canadian disco producers, Willi Morrison and Ian Guenther – on projects Sticky Fingers, THP Orchestra (#2) and their 1979 self-titled album.

“Sadness In My Eye” was the first big hit from the project with the second single “Boys Will Be Boys” following. Another great disco production with the full disco-orchestration and arrangement which THP (Two Hats Productions) were known for.

I have taken “Boys Will Be Boys” and mixed the visuals from the 1998 Farrelly Brothers film, “There’s Something About Mary” starring Cameron Diaz, Ben Stiller and Matt Dillon – playing with the competitive romance between the three suitors after Mary’s heart.

The film was directed by Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly

"Run To Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Kelly Marie

"Run To Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Kelly Marie
Kelly Marie - the disco diva from Scotland brings her unique voice into the disco arena in 1976 with her album "Who's That Lady With My Man" - produced by Roberto Danova. It was her second album, "If I Can't Have You" which brought us her 1977 disco hit, "Run To Me".

The track has a Miami feel to it - thanks to the rhythm guitars. It is one the definable tracks from Kelly where her sweet ands lush vocals paint it's own picture.

I have taken the 12" single and have applied a ReStructure Mix for an alternative mix and a feeling that passed my though my mind and mental disco. Its still holds the original a bit intact adding a few more elements and new breaks.

"Starstruck Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Boiling Point

"Starstruck Lover" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Boiling Point
Boiling Point is a Canadian disco project from Peter Frost - who also brought us Tapps ("Runaway With My Love"). The sound of mid-80s high energy driven my riveting synthesizers and Latin percussion. The simple elements which defined a new period of dance music.

Johanna Vanderkly who is also a part of the trio of Harlow - the big early high energy album "Taking Off" from 1981 returns as lead vocal of Boiling Point. Her direct and appealing vocals tease and accentuate this track nicely in her own style.

I have taken the main A-side version of the 12" and have given it an alternative ReStructure Mix pulling the percussion, drums and some of the synthesizer riffs out. It is a need to keep and define this great period of dance music. One of my favorite!

"The House of The Rising Sun" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Santa Esmeralda

"The House of The Rising Sun" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Santa Esmeralda
Santa Esmeralda is Jean-Manuel de Scarano, Jimmy Goings, Leroy Gomez and Nicolas Skorsky - a disco band created in 1977. Their first album, "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" (a cover of Nina Simone's 1964 classic) was an instant disco classic. The rich and full production from Jean-Manuel de Scarano and Nicolas Skorsky (The Monstars, Crystal Grass) are some of the most impressive form the late 70s disco era.

I have taken the full 15 minute album version and created and new ReStructure Mix using the parts which always brought the song to mind for me. It is a new episode for the disco version and in hopes to keep it's magic alive!

"Without Your Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Nina Schiller

"Without Your Love" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Nina Schiller
Nina Schiller is a disco artists from producer Bill Motley. She is better known as Crystal and The Team - with a single titled "Won't You Dance With Me" from 1981. It was not long after the underground club success of this single when Nina was introduced on her solo project.

"Stay The Night" is the album and the single "Without Your Love" is the second single from the project. A 12" single was released the same year - with a fabulous remix from Paul Sabu (Debbie Jacobs, Sister Power, Sabu, Gwen Jonae) and Rusty Garner.

I have taken the album version and have reworked the beauty love song - giving it a whole new meaning a feel. It is one of my favorite 80s disco revivals from the city of San Francisco and Mr. Bill Motley and still outlines a beautiful feel with Nina Schiller's vocals.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Steven Casey from Facebook - and thank you Steven for requesting a ReStructure of this wonderful song!

"Tahiti, Tahiti..." - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Voyage

"Tahiti, Tahiti..." - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Voyage
Voyage is a French disco group with Marc Chantereau, Pierre-Alain Dahan, Sauveur Mallia, Slim Pezin and Sylvia Mason-James

"Fly Away" is the second album/journey from 1978 - produced with Claudette Tokarz and Roger Tokarz - the second half of a disco odyssey using music from various regions of the world. Along with a few anthems which are uplifting and Euro-disco gems.

I have taken "Tahiti, Tahiti..." from the side one medley and extended it into a whole new realm - it does help that my brother was a Polynesian dancer and a few songs I was accustomed to - where I use "Vini Vini" the disco version from Two Man Sound in segments.

Aloha!

"Saturday Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Arpeggio

"Saturday Night" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Arpeggio
Arpeggio is a disco group created by Simon Soussan (Shalamar, Pattie Brooks, The Sharonettes, Charisma, Romance) during the height of disco music in 1978. "Love and Desire" is the first successful project - displaying Soussan's sound that he developed with earlier artists and his band members.

"Saturday Night" is a cover of Bay City Rollers 1973 pop-rock hit with a nice disco curve. It features a orchestrated arrangement with plenty of breaks and percussion pieces, which Simon was so well as creating.

I have taken the album version and created a whole new arrangement using the "stomping" effect as the emphasis on the tracks charm. It is one of those peak hour songs the requires only a free soul and willing feet!

Dedicated to Mr. Simon Soussan himself!

"Dance With Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Peter Brown

"Dance With Me" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Peter Brown
Peter Brown's classic disco album "A Fantasy Love Affair" continues to be one the most exciting recordings in disco history. The big disco wave could find this record on the crest!

I have taken the LP version of "Dance With Me" and created a ReStructure Mix for a whole new dance montage - dedicated to Mr. Peter Brown for his incredible talent.

"Casanova Action" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Latin Lover

"Casanova Action" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Latin Lover
Latin Lover is a high energy disco-studio band from German producers Mark Kramer and Theo Werdin (Scott Marlowe "Living In Chinatown"). The group had three dance floor hits: "Laser Light", "Dr. Love" and "Casanova Action" in the mid-80s.

"Casanova Action" is a fine example of how high energy music took 80s dance floors hostage with it's powerful fusion of heavy synthesizers, infectious keyboards and odd-themes.

I have taken the 12" original mix of "Casanova Action" and have given it the ReStructure Mix treatment - adding a few machine-gun loops and new drum breaks. It is truly one of the tracks that made my feet move during its time and is now a classic among club collectors.

This ReStructure Mix is dedicated to Vivian Marie C.. from Facebook - work it, Vivian!

"Good, Good Feelin'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - WAR

"Good, Good Feelin'" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - WAR
WAR is a soul/funk band which started in the early 70s out of Southern California. Their producer Jerry Goldstein brought them into the recording music scene and the rest has only benefited our ears and feet.

"Good, Good Feelin'" is from their "The Music Band" LP and the second big disco single from the band.

I have ReStructured the 12" single version by request of Mario (DJ Teacher) and dedicated this re-working of a great dance number to him!

"Wonderful Medley" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Wonder Band

"Wonderful Medley" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - The Wonder Band

The Wonder Band is a disco studio group produced by Armando Noriega, Isreal Sanchez, and Silvio Tancredi - all who worked on Simbora Orchestra ("Brazuca") and Lourett Russell Grant ("Hot To Trot").

"Wonderful Medley" is from their 1979 album "Stairway Of Love" which features disco covers of Led Zeppelin classic songs. This was a great production with lots of the sounds which made disco fun to move to at the end of the 70s.

I have ReStructured the side long medley using more of the funky pieces I loved very much. Another journey has begun!

“Streetcar Named Desire” by Ava Cherry – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Ava Cherry is a vocalist from the early 80s. Her first LP “Ripe!!!” from 1980 featured the disco hit, “Where There’s Smoke There’s Fire” (produced by Bobby Eli) and introduced dance floors to Ava’s fierce talent.

“Streetcar Named Desire” is Ava’s second solo project and is produced by the legendary, Bob Esty (Paul Jabara, Donna Summer, Cher, Brooklyn Dreams, D.C. LaRue, Pattie Brooks, Roberta Kelly, Jeanne Shy) – a unique brand of electronic, funk and nu wave which made the early 80s a moving era of music and dance innovation.

I have taken the 12” version of the tile tracks and created a Disco Video Mix utilizing scenes from the 1951 film adaption of Tennessee Williams’ “Streetcar Named Desire” starring Marlon Brando, Vivian Leigh and Kim Hunter. The romantic drama feeds well into the dance track and using images and motion from the cinema classic there is a new feel to both film and song.

This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to Mr. Bob Esty and Ms. Ava Cherry!

“Memory” by Ménage – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Ménage is a studio session produced by disco producers Eric Matthew (Gary’s Gang, Fast Radio, Sharon Redd, and Tracy Weber) and Warren Schatz (The Brothers, Vicki Sue Robinson, New York Community Choir, and Forecast) featuring studio vocalist Ellen Bernfeld – who also appeared on disco projects “Wizard Of Oz” by Meco and Celi Bee’s “Fly Me On The Wings Of Love”.

“Memory” is a cover from the Broadway smash hit “Cats” – it is a wonderful and high-energy disco- orchestrated version which brought the early 80s some peace and happiness for true disco lovers.

I have taken the disco track and paired it with Walt Disney’s 1970 animated feature “The Aristocats” – the story of a group of aristocratic cats whom are kidnapped and paired with an alley cat. The scene shifts from Broadway cats to animated Disney cats – for a bit of fun and colorful disco painting.

"Substitute" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Gloria Gaynor

"Substitute" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Gloria Gaynor
Gloria Gaynor is the elegant soul diva of disco! Her vocals have brought many dancers and music lovers to the heavens with her lovely and smooth approach. Gloria began recording in 1975 with her album "Experience" - containing her big disco classic "Casanova Brown".

Her fifth album during the big disco boom in 1978, "Love Tracks" contained a single which was assumed as the big hit of the project - "Substitute". It is said that "I Will Survive" was placed as a B-side for the single but became the classic anthem standing on its own and even today being the most requested and played disco track ever.

I have taken the 12" version of "Substitute" and have given it a ReStructure Mix to bring that wonderful pop-disco sound with a 50s flavor. Produced by Dino Fekaris and Freddie Perren this classic album is a mature sound for a disco performer who worked so immensely at her growing style.

“Captain Boogie” by Wardell Piper – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Wardell Piper is a soul vocalist who recorded her self-titled album in 1979 with producers John H. Fitch and Rueben Cross (who wrote Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King’s “Shame”). The album had two killer-disco singles: “Super Sweet: and “Captain Boogie” – both which shared room on my packed dance floors.

“Captain Boogie” is a funky-disco track which has the power of Wardell’s pipes and a super-disco hero theme. It is one of the most invigorating disco songs of its time and a prelude to The Garage-Diva sound.

I have taken the 1975 Ralph Bakshi animated film “Coonskin” and connected the colorful characters and mod-70s scenes with the disco tracks. The film utilized live action and animation and stars Philip Thomas, Barry White and Scatman Crothers – it was a controversial release in its day and I look at it as a time piece and colorful animation more than any negative messages.

This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to the funk-tastic, Ms. Wardell Piper – thank you for your classic dance songs and for sharing your incredible talent

“Moonlight Serenade” by Tuxedo Junction – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Moonlight Serenade” by Tuxedo Junction – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Tuxedo Junction is a disco group created by W. Michael Lewis and Laurin Rinder – who are also known for work with their outstanding disco bands El Coco, In Search of Orchestra, Le Pamplemousse, Saint Tropez and Sweet Potato Pie.

Tuxedo Junction is a studio production from A.J. Cervantes of disco label Butterfly Records and a disco tribute to big-bands and the music of its conductors like Glenn Miller. “Moonlight Serenade” comes from Glenn Miller’s 1939 American big-band sound.

I have taken the disco cover from Tuxedo Junction and paired it with the 1974 romantic drama film, “The Great Gatsby” – based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel. The film stars Robert Redford, Mia Farrow, Bruce Dern and Sam Waterson. I have used much of the footage of the lovely Mia Farrow and the sequences of the affairs of the idle rich.

“Black Widow Woman” by Afro-Cuban Band – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Black Widow Woman” by Afro-Cuban Band – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Afro-Cuban Band is a band formed by Michael Zager – their first hit was a disco cover of Abaco Dream’s “Life and Death in G&A” from 1975. Following a successful follow up project titled “SpanDisco” in 1977 the group released a finale album in 1978 titled “Rhythm Of Life”.

“Black Widow Woman” is track from “Rhythm Of Life” and was also released as a 12” disco single. The mix of Latin and disco elements along with Zager's fantastic production give this slick and dark piece a nice funky and cha-cha feel.

I have taken the 1948 MGM musical, “The Kissing Bandit” starring Frank Sinatra, Kathryn Grayson, Ricardo Montalban and Cyd Charisse and used some of the wonderful dance sequences as a ploy for this tale of a dark and mysterious woman. It works as the Technicolor douses the screen over and over after each kick and spin.

“Pulstar” by Mc Lane Explosion – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Pulstar” by Mc Lane Explosion – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Mc Lane Explosion is a group created by Roland Romanelli (of Space) – electronic symphonies of disco orchestration with a space-age feel. The first project titled “Space Music” was released in France in 1977. It was re-released with remixes and a few additional tracks in the US in 1978.

“Pulstar” is a track written by Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou (also known as Vangelis) which is the title track to the American release. It is a piece similar to much of the sound and style of Space material.

I have taken the 1961 Italian science fiction film, “Battle Of The Worlds” starring Claude Rains and created a montage using the astronomical station, a military base on Mars and of course, “the big battle”. The film is an early special effects wonder with toy ships and real flames as the fuel. Quite campy!

“Go Go Gorilla” by Gazuzu – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Go Go Gorilla” by Gazuzu – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Gazuzu is a Dutch production team called "Cat Music" consisting out of G. Hessing, A. Mol, E. van Prehn, C. Bergman and E. Veerhoff. Their 80s disco project titled Gazuzu began in 1982 with the single “Drums On Fire” – it was then that a light hearted but heavy drum and synth-groove became their trademark sound.

“Go Go Gorilla” was their second single from1983 which is a chant-like track of a zookeeper who finds his animals quite groovy at night. This was the inspiration for the 2001 comedy/fantasy film “Zookeeper” starring Kevin James as the Disco Video Mix.

The film is similar as our zookeeper learns something from the zoo animals that hold more than his care in their hearts.

"Tango In Space" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Space

Space is Didier Marouani, Jannick Top, Janny Loseth, Joe Hammer, Madeline Bell, Patrice Tison, Roland Romanelli, Roy Robinson and Yann Benoist - a French group created by Didier Marouani (aka Ecama) and Roland Romanelli

Their 1977 LP titled "Magic Fly" contained not only the title disco classic - but also the instrumental "Tango In Space" which the band is very well known for - a space symphony of sound.

I have taken the track "Tango In Space" from the 12" release and played with it to create a ReStructure Mix which is an alternative mix including a vocal piece from Boris Midney's "Festival" project.

"Does It Feel Good" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Jump

"Does It Feel Good" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Jump

Jump is Canadian disco producer Peter Di Milo - better known for Erotic Drum Band, Ann Joy, Champagne Explosion and Nightlife Unlimited. His work in disco music bridged the gap from the late 70s to the early 80s continually bringing a contagious sound with his synthesizers and heavy conga and percussion rhythms.

"Does It Feel Good" is an electro-vibe "delight" from 1979 during the transition of American disco to the hardcore Canadian and European sound. It is what Cerrone would sound like minus the strings and horns - and keeping the lusty and sexy chorus girls intact.

I have taken the original 12" single version and ReStructured a whole new version to bring back that need to bump in the night to that sexy disco beat. "Does It Feel Good?" - it always has to me!

Dedicated to Mr. Peter Di Milo!

"Nightflight To Venus" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Boney M.

"Nightflight To Venus" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Boney M.

Boney M. is a disco group created by Frank Farian in 1975 - following the success of his initial song, "Baby, Do You Wanna Bump" the group was formed with Maizie Williams, Marcia Barrett, Bobby Farrell and Liz Mitchell.

"Nightflight To Venus" is the third album from the disco group from 1978 and gives a fantasy-dance trip on space travel to the planet of love, Venus. A distinctive sound on this project gives plenty of rolling drum beats and cosmic-filler. It has always been one of my favorite tracks from Boney M. even though there is little vocal and more fantasy.

This ReStructure Mix takes the album version and reshapes the journey with some new beat-loop edits and rearranging bits and pieces.

"Angel 43" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Marsha Raven

"Angel 43" - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix - Marsha Raven

Marsha Raven (Marsha White) is a disco vocalist from the early 80s and during electronic phase of dance music where high energy became the recipe for a excitable dance floor. Her first single from 1982 was "I Like Plastic" and the flip-side "Angel 43". The single was produced by Pierre Tubbs and Steve Rowland and headed an alternative and camp-like dance single with "I Like Plastic"

"Angel 43" is the flip-side was always interesting to me as an early evening or early morning song with it's galactic whirlpool of sound and Marsha's robotic and sensual vocal. It was one of those numbers very difficult to mix into from the original 12" mix. I have taken the big single mix and created an even more cosmic-rearing sound with the elements and the light and haunting phrases where Marsha convinces her lover to allow her passage to another galaxy called love.
