Jesse Johnson (Jesse Woods Johnson) is a guitarist who began with Morris Day’s The Time band. His solo project titled Jesse Johnson Revue was in the spotlight thanks to the success of Prince’s “Purple Rain” and the many projects he accompanied through their starting period. “Be Your Man” is the single from the project and has that 80’s Prince and The Revolution sound which guides it into a wonderful place. A love song with several wonderful moments with keyboards lightening up the space where the heartfelt direction is given. The track is from the 1985 album by the same name.
I have taken the 12” version of “Be Your Man” and realigned a new ReStructure Mix to give this 80’s edge a new place. I have rearranged the intro and original layout of the song and also added a few pieces from the Plez garage classic, “Can’t Stop”.
