Bananarama are Keren Woodward, Sarah Dalli and Siobhan Fahey – a trio formed in the early 80’s and became a favorite among dance floors. Their light hearted and sometime kooky mannerisms gave the girls a deserving titled as they were. “Venus” is their cover of Shocking Blue’s 1967 classic. The production by Stock/Aitken/Waterman is the classic thumping beats and hardcore percussion layers – a sound which was successful among many of their projects. This fast paced and energetic remake is a classic since its release thanks to the girls and their gorgeous images and also the arrangement which swallows the song whole in a wonderful way.
I have taken the 12” vocal and dub versions of Bananarama’s cover of “Venus” and reworked the percussion and bass segments into a new ReStructure Mix. The levels are new with some breaks and bass-y bridge here and there with enough editing to pull another rabbit out of this hat.
