ESG is Marie Scroggins, Renee Scroggins and Valerie Scroggins – a trio from South Bronx whose first album “Come Away With ESG” released in 1983. More of an experimental recording with several dance genres taking over their raw instrumental which present the underground dance feel of its time. “Moody” is one of the more recognizable pieces and is simply a drum groove with an early bass line of the house sound. The faint and distant vocal has been used in several house mixes and became one of the moments where a hall full of dancers was place in a hypnotic trance on the floor. This one truly has its own power and makes the point which the band intended.
I have taken the album version of “Moody” and reworked the message to a new ReStructure Mix. Adding some classic percussion from the Chicago/New York underground house movement which would soon follow. A guest vocal from the “King Of Soul” is also hosted in this new mix.
