Blondie is Chris Stein, Deborah Harry, Clem Burke and Jimmy Destri – a nu-wave turned pop-rock band who maintained their unique appeal in the transition of disco taking over in the mid and late 70’s. “Atomic” is from their 1979 project titled “Eat To The Beat” – produced by Mike Chapman. The track is a powerful vocal approach in the focus of keeping a hardcore edge with an arrangement similar to “Heart Of Glass” – complete with percolating sequencers. The song climbs into several crescendos where the main guitar riff becomes a wonderful contender for a Bond film theme. It is a quite exciting moment for Blondie and makes the message known that someone is making the night explode.
I have taken the extended and instrumental of “Atomic” and rewired the song for this tribute and ReStructure Mix. I have added some additional percussion and beats to give the song an underground feel and also extended those beautiful Harry vocals again.
