ReStructure Mix Update (8/7/23): “Love Is The Message” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – MFSB featuring The Three Degrees
MFSB is the ensemble which created the evolution of soul to disco during the early 80’s. Their 1973 project “Love Is The Message” was a track written by Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff – who also produced this Philly dance anthem. The piece became the outline for the unity and purpose for the underground dance circuit where disc jockeys came into power by choosing their programs by dance floor approval. It is a powerhouse recording which blends the jazz edge of soul music into what would soon become the ‘The Salsoul Sound’ with Vincent Montana Jr. working on this magic also. The Three Degrees sprinkle their beautiful sound over this track as their affiliation with the Philly movement is proven with their hit “When Will I See You Again”. This recording brings the song a new feeling and is ear candy for those who appreciate these ladies as they are,
I have taken the Three Degrees version and also the album version “Love Is The Message” from its original release and relayed the song for this ReStructure Mix. My focus was to bring the energy of the song out into a heavy drop disco beat and make more of the vocals from these talented ladies apart of the new arrangement.
