ReStructure Mix Update (8/6/23): “Caribbean Queen” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Billy Ocean
Billy Ocean is a singer from Trinidad and began his recording career in 1976 and become one of the most recognized voices in dance music and contemporary pop music of the 80’s. “Caribbean Queen” is a pop-dance single released in 1984 and was produced by Keith Diamond. The track became an instant radio and club hit and still echoes the 80’s dance structure to this day. The production hits the target for club music with its heavy rolling bass and the segmentation of percussion effects throughout the dance remix. It is one of the infectious of male solo singles released in the 80’s and once again gives Billy an opportunity to show his soulful and powerful vocals.
I have taken the 12’ vocal and dub of “Caribbean Queen” to present a new ReStructure Mix for this club classic. I have used elements of the dub to accentuate the vocal version and give way to a whole new delivery of this song.
