Amii Stewart’s huge disco hit from 1978 is a cover of Eddie Floyd’s 1966 soul track “Knock On Wood” – produced by Barry Lang. In 1985 a supplemental remix was released titled “Ash 48” produced by Barry Lang and Dave Hewson. This piece is a tribute to the technology which initially created the disco masterpiece that took dance floors buy storm in its release. The term “Ash” meaning after the fire a flame still burns from the ashes. This is exactly what we are dealing with here. The focus of taking the original concept deeper into an underground feel. “Ash 48” was originally billed by Ash 48 – but without Amii this track could not be as hot as it still lies. There are additional vocals added by Sharon Benson to fill in the new gap of this disco classic.
I have taken the 12” version of “Ash 48” and several pieces from the original to complete this monumental ReStructure Mix. The new beat foundation is laid out to create a new playground for this extended trip.
