ReStructure Mix Update (5/5/23): “If You Love Somebody” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Barbara Doust

Barbara Doust is a high-energy artist from Canada who is well-known as the voice behind the track “My Forbidden Lover” by Tapps. Her solo career from the late 80’s and into the late 90’s gave the dance floor several memorable moments in the high-energy genre – including “If You Love Somebody” from 1987 – produced by Vincent Degiorgio. This piece began as an anthem and finishes that way. It begins with a wall of heavy synths paving the way for a subtle and irresistible delivery from Barbara who shares with us the wonders of ‘loving somebody’. This one did quite well during a period of non-stop releases in this genre and stands out with her fabulous sound echoing throughout the mechanical rhythms.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “If You Love Somebody” and focused on the “anthem” edge to recreate this ReStructure Mix. More of the original sequencers are edited and placed in a new secession as well as a few more moments for the lovely vocals from Barbara to give us more insight.
