ReStructure Mix Update (5/16/23): “Diana” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Julius Brown

Julius Brown is a vocalist who was produced by Jacques Morali (Village People, The Ritchie Family) in the early 80’s for two of the periods powerful high-energy tracks – his first single “Party” from 1983 was an immediate hit in clubs and “Diana” the second is an anthem dedicated to the Motown Diva herself, Ms. Diana Ross. The production is a full on electronic arrangement with pulsating bass sequencers generating the energy. Along with Julius’ soulful vocals and approach to each track there is a winning sound all together. “Diana” has a beautiful and powerful chorus in which Brown makes use with his ad-libs using titles from Motown classic from the lady. A nice piece of high energy dance and a plus again for Morali who made a successful transition into the 80’s as a high energy producer.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Diana” and recreated the anthem with a few additions for this ReStructure Mix. The samples of Ross’ classics are layered along with new layered patterns of the rolling bass and keyboards to present the tribute with a bit more power.
