ReStructure Mix Update (5/1/23): “Looking For A New Love” – Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Jody Watley

Jody Watley began a recording career in a group titled Shalamar in the late 70’s. Her talent, dedication and hard work gave her a solo career in the mid-80s. Her 1987 self-titled project gave her a new opportunity to take the music industry again with five releases from the album becoming club hits. “Looking For A New Love” is the first release and became a staple among many clubs and also pop-radio. Produced by André Cymone and David B. Rivkin this piece made electronic funk lives again on dance floors and airplay. A great down beat and several riffs bring this number home with Jody right alongside. One of that year’s big surprise hits and an opportunity to give Jody the spotlight she deserved.

I have taken the 12” vocal, instrumental, bonus beats and A cappella to rework “Looking For A New Love” in this ReStructure Mix. The new percussion outline brings a more underground feel to the new outline and several edits using vocals and bonus beats create new breaks.
