Ohio Players are
one of soul/funk bands of the 70’s which built the groove from the foundation
of soul music in the early 70s. Their early presence in soul music helped to
bring an extended groove to dance track. “Skin Tight” is from their 1974 album
by the same title and relays their exploration of emotions and sexuality. This
number is a sexy take on an appealing wear and groove. This one in its original
state pulls a jazz take on the bass guitar groove. It is one of the soul
classics that bring to mind the evolution of soul and dance music all together.
I have taken the
album version of “Skin Tight” and reworked a ReStructure Mix with a layer of
new percussion and drops to pay tribute to The Ohio Players. The horns and bass
are left intact and extended so that the outline is not lost.
