Flesh is Coral Gordon, Janice Hoyte, Stephen Lironi and Douglas Macintyre – an ensemble produced by Steve Harvey from 1985. “You Can't Help (Sentimental Sunday)” is one of my favorite club records of that year. A big hit for my dance floor and one that was infectious drawing more and more to the floor as the track played on. There is so much in this track that it feels complete and secure within its own sound. I always pictured this as an underground hit for The Pointer Sisters at the time – however Flesh is one with two great female vocalists who make the songs lesson – where meeting a new love interest on Saturday makes Sunday feel “sentimental”. It has everything from great keyboard breaks to vocal riffs.
I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental versions of “You Can't Help (Sentimental Sunday)” and rewired the energy into this ReStructure Mix. I have extended the intro and placed more of those gospel-hard hitting organ breaks into play in this mix.
